Lisa and Jeri just called from Kansas City to say that Lisa had been interviewed by one Lisa Carter from KMBZ radio in KC. Because nothing says you've hit it big like a phone interview while in a Walmart parking lot wink.gif

Keep on the lookout for any links to any shoutouts the event is getting on the radio and share them here smile.gif

When Lisa and Jeri called they were laughing at the absolute ridiculousness of the situation when the interview happened. As Jess mentioned, they were in a Wal Mart parking lot, in their car in the 100 degree heat. Not their finest moment, but the interview went well they think. Gotta love the dedication of those too...lol. laugh.gif

And now, for the rest of the story. (Paul Harvey, anyone?)

I had run into Walmart to get one of the last prizes for the event on Saturday. I came out, opened the door to the car to get back into the car, and CookedinFlorida says, "How would you like to be on the radio to promote the event?" I settle into the drivers seat, baking in the KC sun, sweaty and gross from travel and summer heat and say "Earlier tomorrow is better." Suddenly, I hear, "I"m going to put you on with Lisa then" and hands me her phone!

The woman on the other end, also Lisa, says she is going to run to another phone. Ahhh...OK. She picks up the phone and says, "OK, we're recording. Tell me your name and your role in the organization for an audio level check." WHA?! Well, I guess, here we go.

So, the interview covered the event, why we're doing this (she kept after this two different times, expecting me to give a certain answer, but you all know we have a commitment to respect the family's privacy) -- told her that we all came together because we enjoyed David's music and we soon found out that we all also shared a deep connection to the cause, same as David -- and what better way to honor him, his music, and his success than to join the fight against cancer. She asked about how we're raising money -- I tried to get in there how creative you all were, but she was only interested in KC fundraisers and the event itself.

And then . . . came the kicker question, "So, you're following David Cook all around the country this summer?!" Somehow I overcame my shock (and for those of you who know how many shows I'm taking in this summer, it is NOT FOLLOWING HIM! It's my summer of celebration for clean pathology results & charity - you know that). Anyhoo . . . "Not me personally but his fans sure are!" OMG! (When you guys read the prank we played on our KC man on the ground last night at PBR, you'll get why I was . . .stunned.)

Asked if David was gonna be there. NO! He has lots to do!

And then, she asked what we want people to know, and we teased her that it could be a very, very special weekend for David while in his home market -- and we'd just like to add to that moment, if we have the chance. wink.gif (I'm teasin' you all there, too.)
