Full Version: Nick Gibson's Performance At Pbr Big Sky
David Cook > American Idol Archive > 2008 American Idols Live Tour > Kansas City Homecoming Events August 29-30th

Just got back from Nick Gibson'sshow tonight at the PBR. (For those who haven't heard, Nick is David's friend from his MWK days, and Nick played guitar on one of Axium's songs off their last disc.) Going to make this update very quick but will be back tomorrow with LOTS of deets (including the prank we played on our man on the ground in KC who has been helping us with this whole benefit, a charity challenge he has taken on, and what we witnessed among these tight-knit friedns - and oh yeah, an abolustely rockin' show!)

A few teasers/highlights:

  • The Prank: more to come, but let's just say it involved "groupies."
  • Nick's performance: WOW! I can't believe how Nick manages to incorporate so much rock into his songs/set. It was abolustely unbelievable! Having had his album on replay since I got it about two weeks ago, I was just so pleased to be able to sing along for Nick. The crowd seemed to like him; there was almost always a full dance floor. More details to come, including Pat Green taking the stage with Nick.
  • The Friends: more to come, but suffice it to say, they are all SO happy for Nick.
  • The Pix: Cooked got TONS of pix, and we'll upload in the morning.
  • The Meeting: about 6 D-C.orgers were present, and it was nice to finally meet everyone in person. Thanks for coming out to show Nick some love!

Hope you all enjoyed the show as much as I did. I loved every second of it! And I am officially hoarse from screaming my head off at Nick's show.

Sorry this is so short; I will come back and add more. I'm typing this with one eye open and one eye closed, because my body is shutting down, asking for sleep.

Be back soon.

Just to tease you more . . .

The charity challenge "dare" is *ON* triple-dog-dared-us TONIGHT!

More deets to come. Sorry, guys. Command Central is manic right now, and I didn't have time to update about Nick's performance last night. (When I put my head down on my laptop at 3:45 am, Deana said, "Go to bed.")

We WILL have AMAZING pix of Nick from the performance. And this charity challenge . . . whoa, you don't wanna miss it!

They are such teases, aren't they?

I know the guy is Tommy, a friend of David's, who helped organize all of this.
The redhead on the right is Jeri (aka CookedinFL), who I had the pleasure of meeting in Tampa, and one of the ladies in charge of having the amazing quilt made for David.
Don't know who mystery "Not A Groupie" #3 is....

All will be revealed shortly, I'm sure.
I hope.

The story is comin' . . .

In fact, I'll start a new topic about the triple-dog-dare-ya charity challenge and how a few peeps stepped up to the plate BIG TIME.

But you're gonna have to work for this amazing story and picture . . . (of course) wink.gif

I have so much more to tell you about Nick's show Thursday night - great moments (covering LOAP and Hard to Handle), funny moments (we *might* tell you about the guy at the railing - lol), and just all-around-awesome moments with this great group of Oklahoma boys. More to come soon.

Yay!

The sick chik. sad.gif

Charity Chix FTB. And Charity Chik for the urgent care tomorrow . . .

"All we did was watch a TV show! DAMN YOU, David Cook!" biggrin.gif

Edit: Lest anyone think that I am actually cursing David . . . ^^that quote^^ was our mantra for the weekend. It was kinda weird to be in his hometown driving all over streets that made no sense at all! (MO/KS highways/streets FTL!) Setting up for this event and wondering how you got here. All any of us did was watch a TV show, and here he has mobilized hundreds and thousands of fans who have so admirably committed themselves to this cause. It's a very surreal yet rewarding experience.
