Well, I've been on here way too much today so logging off ... everyone have a great evening and keep those donations coming!

As David said (wrote) in DC "Make that $$$!"

smile.gif
Scott
Will someone be able to tell David before the concert? Can we get a message to him?
laeddie
OMG - I am so excited and in awe of the power of the D-C.orgers!

I hope someone can get the news to David that the $26K goal has been reached - He might be so touched that he'd even mention it from the stage!
#1FaninAZ
I don't know how the thermometer works (well, atleast not the one on here - I am a nursing student, I'd better know how a real one works).

It would be so nice if David was informed of this goal tonight - what a way to finish his time in KC.
BLake
Wow. We get lost in these freakin' KC roads and take a shower -- and look what you're up to!

Congratulations, DC.org-ers! $26,000 goal = MET!

A message will be delivered to David this evening. His friends have already text messaged me back.

(Stacey & alhillia - sorry I didn't mention the win from the bird's nest! I actually was coming back to hotel to do that and hoping I make MJ set - not gonna happen.)

Pushing press releases now. . . .

New thermometer to come tonight. Travis has it. And it ROCKS! (thank you, krittr)

Sorry so short - more soon. Just rushing to get news out. So proud of you all. Congratulations. You all are just . . . phenomenal!
laeddie
Will Steph's vid be posted to YouTube? I have my "Puffs Plus" ready and waiting...

Quick update: the charity chix are sleeping tonight, so more in depth posts tomorrow.

David was told about the goal being reached at his after party. He was touched that we made it happen in his home town, and sends his sincere thanks.

And the triple dog dare happened...so be on the lookout for deets on that.

I am sure that the wonderful news was "icing on the cake" for David - that is very special that this happened during his homecoming.

I spoke with the lady who won the guitar shortly after and here is her story:

She starts by saying her son is a musician, just turned 19 and had his first girlfriend, who had been getting serious with him, talking marriage and what not and he was ok with that and looking forward to it. She ended up breaking up with him on Fri and he was really upset about it. When momma found out the guitar was being raffled off...she went and bought 10 tickets, because that is THE guitar he wanted, but she couldn't afford. She walks back to her friend who is holding 3 tickets. When she asks the friend about them, she says the people next to her left and asked if she wanted the tickets. It was 1 of the given 3 that won the guitar. She was soo excited and happy, the tears were flowing, from more than one person I might add. And she said, even though the guitar is signed, it will not go unused. smile.gif

Thanks for sharing this story. I know that Kathy in AZ really wanted the guitar, but I'm sure she is just as happy for the young man who received it.

This is the first I'm logging on today, late night or should I say morning for me (haha!) tyring to catch up on just the FIRST night of KC events. Last I heard we were CLOSE to the total, then I log on NOW and what do I see at the top of the board? GOAL MET!!

That is so unbelievable.. seriously you guys are BEYOND awesome. David must be over the moon over this plus all of what happened in his hometown. Too much to process once again. tongue.gif

Congrats to one and all. Thank you Kathy for donating so much and thank you d.c.ftw for that story of the lady who won the guitar for her son. Incredible stories all around. I am so proud of everyone here at David DASH Cook.org!

Sounds like it was a great day. I'm a huge Bon Jovi fan and I'm not keen on people covering them but Nick sounded awesome on that video.

Congrats to all on reaching the goal!! what's next?

Yes, it's always more meaningful when something like that happens to someone who really needs it or has a great story and so I am very happy for her.

I might buy a guitar and bring it to Tulsa with me to have him sign it. The one I am using now is borrowed. We will see.

Thank you for sharing the story about the guitar.

Everyone should be SOOOOOOOOOOOOO proud of what was accomplished this weekend! It's very touching to see people come together for this and big, huge kudos to Kathy for putting us over the top...and over the moon!!

I only have a few pics from the event but here they are.

Oh, and the triple-dog-dare...you guys won't wanna miss it!

Oh, hey guys! Quick update from yesterday that I forgot . . .

Nick was SUPER happy to see you all on the thread and hear about your enthusiasm. He asked if he could post, and I said, "Sure. You can use my log-in." And before he could do it, he got pulled away by the group.

He was so appreciative of all of your support and was more than a little tripped out by the fact that his performance was already on YouTube. He said, "Who did that?!" I smiled. He watched his performance and got more than a little distracted by it, professing, "This is trippin' me out. I never get to watch myself play. This is SO WEIRD!" lol.

I'm sure we'll hear from him soon. He's probably on the road back to Oklahoma as I type.

Just know that he is so very grateful for all of your support. So, thank you.

OH! And Nick dedicated Wanted Dead or Alive to David, something like, "That was for David Cook, who is a Bon Jovi Boy, too." biggrin.gif

After one the greatest, craziest, most exhausting, overwhelming, amazing weekends of my life, I am FINALLY getting to read all of the wonderful updates from Jess and Lisa, the cheers of motivation from everyone on the board and the amazing last minute donations that were posted during the event. WOW! I was running around the event like a chicken with my head cut off and am finally back home in VA with a few minutes to relax. I will post more in the coming days when I have had some sleep and time to decompress. But WOW. What a weekend.

I'll do a bigger post about this soon....but.

OUR VOLUNTEERS ROCKED!! You have no idea how hard they all worked. The event would not have been a success without all of them. Thank you from the bottom of all of the "Charity Chix" hearts. We LUFF YOU!

We will all try and write more updates as soon as we can. Most of us are just getting ack from travel and operation on minimal sleep. Once we are all back on our feet we will be sure to fill everyone in. smile.gif

On that note...must get sleep.

Nope, need s'more enthusiasm . . . .

Saucy's video played TWICE. The second time to a nice crowd, peeps had tears! GO, STEPH! Congratulations! So proud of you!

And Alhillia's daughter won the iPod!!! (Ummm . . . so NOT PG. Gotta get with alhillia on that!)

An update!!! Since it was really OUR raffle ticket that won, I was able to bribe the autographed iPod from Lauren with a Ty stuffed animal from the Hallmark at the Crown Center! Sensitive ears have been saved. AND the iPod remains in pristine condition 4-eva!!!

Lisa, thank you so, so much for updating on this. I've been thinking about it ALL DAY as I'm sure you figured. I can't believe it played TWICE, wow. And people cried?? Omg LoL I will not cry, I will not cry, I will not cry laugh.gif Thank you again SO much for getting me involved in this and for thinking of me, it means so much, as you know. By doing this video I felt like I had a small part in something really important to me, and it also made me feel like I got to be in KC this weekend, in a way, since I couldn't physically be there. Thank you so, so much.

Also, thanks for the Nick video!! It was great see him perform! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

AND THAT NUMBER!! OMG, so close!! I got so excited when I saw it!! biggrin.gif

~Steph

Is the video posted anywhere online for viewing? I was making cards at the kids' table and missed it BOTH times!

I'm leaving that up to Saucy. She has a few tweaks that we've asked her to make -- and we've certainly already put her through the ringer on the video edits! (SORRY, Steph, but it came out so beautifully!) If she wishes to post the version that played at the event, that's all cool. But I know that our Steph is a true artist, and I wouldn't want to push that out if she didn't want us to. Plus, I know she was hoping to get the vid to someone perhaps first (?).

Steph? What'd ya say?
PennyKeating
what was the video about - can you at least tell us that?

and what about the dare?

TEASERS! This is killing me... your all having a conversation we have NO CLUE about. LOL

Saucy produced an awareness video for the American Cancer Society and our efforts. There is a big thread about it here. It was unbelievable.

The only thing I can reveal about the triple-dog-dare-ya charity challenge is located in this thread.

Hope that helps.
