Okay people, what is going on here????

David got 56 million votes on Idols. Yet TOML has not yet gone platinum!! That it less than 1 copy sold per 56 votes !!!! So where are all you people now? I challenge you to buy one copy of TOML for every vote you gave to David (okay, I know it will work out to a lot for some people, but don't you think it's worth it??)

Uh, sorry... but I am NOT buying 1500 copies of TOML! One is just fine with me!

It would be more like 4000 copies for me. I've already bought two copies -- one off of iTunes on one computer and one off of Amazon on another computer. That's the best I can do.

The fact that he had 56 millian votes does not mean that 56 millian people voted for him. If I purchased as many copies of TOML as I voted....well, let's just say I would suddenly be divorced and homeless.

same here!!!! Would luv to see it go platinum but way to many copies for one person to buy. I have one off iTunes already. May buy 2 more.

I want to see what happens after Oprah - I'm thinking Magic Rainbow might just pll this off without any extra help from me. (Of course, if its close, I'll consider gifting a few.)

if you buy more than one from itunes, it doesnt count right? what if i buy one from itunes (done) and another from amazon?
thats why i have not done it. i though scott said it would not count.

I would agree that buying more than one from iTunes with the same account on the same computer would not count more than once, but buying from both iTunes and Amazon (and I'm guessing even Wal-Mart) should each count because they are different companies. iTunes isn't giving it's customer's names out to Amazon and vice versa.

Let's see what happens after next week's Oprah episode. I think that will give Magic Rainbow a big boost, especially from people who know nothing about David Cook.

I want to see what Oprah does, too. I think the show may push it. I think the little rainbow that could will get there just fine without me buying another 7,499 copies! LOL.

And I've already said that when it goes platinum, I am in for $100 to Cook Fans Conquering Cancer in celebration.

iTunes counts them all, but more than 8-10 (not sure exactly, but no less than 8) is detected as trying to inflate the numbers so it doesn't count towards chart success.

I personally cannot buy TOML, not through Amazon and not through iTunes (international fan *sigh*) but I was gifted TOML when it was first released and I think that's a great thing to do.
No one needs 10 copies of the same song, but gifting it to people who really can't get it is both a nice thing to do, and helps sales. I really hope there's a gifting campaign for the album when it comes, too.
