I tried to change my avatar this morning ... I've done this successfully many times before.

I received the following error message: "The upload failed. Please contact a member of staff to help rectify the problem"

So, it won't let me upload a new avatar and ERASED the one I did have, so now I have NO avatar.

Help ... please!

And I thought I was the only one who had that problem. Arrrrrgggghhhhhh!!!

I've one other problem - I can't hotlink avatars from image-hosting sites either.

I am having the same problem as well. I just changed my avi last night. Now the new one is gone and I cannot upload anything!

Yeah recent avatars won't show up because I made the site back up about three days ago so anything uploaded in the last three days or so wasn't on my computer.

The avatars won't upload yet because I still need to install another script onto the server that allows image manipulation and thumbnailing. Another way I guess is "I'll have it fixed soon."

I thought I was going nuts because my newer avatar (guess I've had it for about 2 weeks) disappeared this evening and my older avatar (from a month ago) was in its place and when I tried to change it back to the newer one, it wouldn't let me.

In the meantime, though, it would be great to have as an option (like on other messageboards I go to) to be able to hotlink the avatar from a hosting service like photobucket or image shack like we do our signatures. Should save you storage space from having to always host all the avatars.

ETA: Ugh, great, now I've lost my avatar completely.

Don't worry, ISTM everyone is avatar-less. I'm thinking Travis is fiddling. Hope Rome isn't burning!

For now just use the offsite avatar option. Upload your avatar to sites like www.imageshack.us and then place the image link into the avatar field on this site and it'll work for the time being.

THANK YOU Travis! For a while there, the link to the offsite avatar option was gone ... so there was no option for that nor to be able to upload directly from the computer. Your hard work is greatly appreciated!

Hmmm ... when I paste the direct photobucket link, the entire link apparently does not fit in the space provided for the URL and I get an error message saying it's an incorrect extension ...????

Make sure that you aren't using [IMG] tags or make sure the http:// isn't in there twice. The http:// is already provided for you.

Could someone please help me?! I feel so incredibly computer illiterate but I have no idea how to upload my picture to another site like imageshack.us to use as my avatar. Can anybody walk me through the steps? I would really appreciate it!

I have only ever used the one photo for my avatar and now I can't firgure out how to change it. I went to settings and tried to upload my photo using browse but it says upload failed. If anyone has some advice that would be great. Thanks
