I was just thinking that I cannot remember any other Idol being put into the media spotlight so soon, like they are doing to David.. I mean, he has been in the tabloids, linked to another reality TV "star"- (let's just forget that one ever happened) and then the media is all over the story of his brother.. but at least they are being respectful on that angle.

I just want to say that we could all learn a lot from David on how to handle the pressures he is under.. He doesn't comment on what is going on or being said about him in the media and he does not use his brother's illness to gain sympathy.... and I have great respect for him for doing that.

I am not even going to hate on all the David haters out there, because honestly I feel sorry for them.. they spend time hating on him and spreading negativity when they could just be like us, and appreciate David for being the talented man that he is.. David is going to be successful no matter what happens, as he has many, many fans who will always love, support and understand him and I am thankful to be one of them.

I guess David lives by one of my favorite mottos:

"Didn't your mama ever tell you , if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all!"

So, this thread is just to say THANK YOU DAVID COOK for holding your head up high, performing with class and confidence, and giving us all something to look forward to watch each week. You are a very special man and I wish you all the success you deserve!

He is a classy guy, period. He has been taught very well. He has had to deal with more issues than others, rumors about his personal life, an ailing brother, and he has handled himself with grace.

That is so true (I believe - only been watching AI since season 5). Which only proves the point that's been running around in my mind - that David doesn't need to win AI...but AI needs David Cook to win.

I love how David is being so level headed about everything. In all honesty, when people think back to him years later they'll remember him as the guy we all know and love, not someone begging for attention.

If he wins, he wins. If he doesn't.....he doesn't. That's all there is to it, and I think he knows that. Sure this has changed his life, but it's just a game and when it's over I think he wants to be the same person he was when is started (except with a few more adoring fans )
