I love this CD. The songs that stand out to me are
-Straight Ahead
-Don't Say a Word
-The Truth
-Makeover
-Silver

Here are my questions. Did David write the music and lyrics for all 10 tracks? Any co-writers?

Who are the supporting musicians? Where did he record this CD?

And, are there lyrics online for the tracks?

Thanks David for this incredible music! biggrin.gif

I love it too.

The lyrics in The Truth, "If you want to know the truth, you make or break my day, If you want to know the truth, I wouldn't have it any other way " make me melt.

I am still completely amazed by how out and out great this cd is. No fillers, no skipped tracks.

Favorites would have to be:
Silver
Searchlights
The Truth
Porcelain
Makeover

I would also love to know if he wrote all the songs etc. smile.gif

SERIOUSLY! I was saying the same thing-- there is not one track on here that I say, "eh, that's just ok"...every song is amazing in it's own right... and the whole album flows from the opening track to the closing track.

I can't even pick one song as my favorite because not only are they all great musically, the lyrics are just as special on each one.

Right now I am listening to Searchlights-- "you make me falllllllllll forever, with no end in sight..." I love that line...

Off to take another listen to Searchlights......I can't get enough of this CD.

I agree with all of you, the cd is absolutely amazing!! There isnt one song i skip... sure ill wanna listen to some more than others, but all have such a great sound and his voice, makes you melt.

the truth and silver are probably my highest rated ones haha

I feel like everytime I listen to it, I notice something new. o.O Is that strange?
I remember the first song I listened to was Fall Back Into Me. But then I just fell in love with The Truth. Can never go an hour(possibly seconds) without listening to it once! biggrin.gif I love just sitting there and listening to every single word and really understand it. I can really feel his heart in this album. David is amazing!

Don't Say A Word and The Truth are my favorites.

I also notice something new almost everytime I listen to it. : D Really the cd is just so awesome. I love all the songs, but if i had to pick one favourite song, i'd maybe say ''Silver''. smile.gif Haha today at school we had to start writing some essay and I was kind of lost and didn't know how to get started, then I again listened to David's music and listened to the lyrics and I got some kind of inspiration from David's songs and then it was easier to get started with writing. biggrin.gif Thanks David for pimpin' my essay!. biggrin.gif lol
mypurplesocks
i love the whole CD
it's kinda hard for me to like an album just like that but DC somehow made every song worthy to my ears
the song "Makeover" is owning my life right now
and i do think he writes all of the lyrics himself, you can just tell the honesty when he sings them and also you could see that the lyrics are him (you know, how everyone have their own way with their written arts?)
as for lyrics, i found this site -click me i'm a link-

My fave songs are 'Don't Say A Word' and 'Searchlights' biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Love them all, but I really love this line from Porcelain:

"The cracks in your smile, make it impossible to decipher something legible... your porcelain face and a heart of glass.. "

Um, how did he just make the words decipher and legible sound so SEXY? -- I sure would like to help him write a new song.. David makes words sexy..
SaucyAussieCookFan
I loooove this album. I don't understand how we've never heard of him before with this amazing material. I love the whole album like all of you do. I've been listening to it a lot since I bought it so that I can get to know the songs. I want to sing along! laugh.gif

It's hard to choose favorites, but I really like "Makeover" and "The Truth." They're all great tracks though, not one is skipped.

I could go on and on about how much I love this album, but I won't because I know that you all already know how great it is. I just wish my new mp3 player would get here so I could start taking it with me to college everyday. I seriously went through withdrawal today without it. I was itching to get home to start listening again laugh.gif

There's something about those lyrics, I discovered that last night actually.

Everytime I hear words like that in a song-words that you don't usually hear in lyrics-I am immediately drawn to that song....which happens in most of David's songs, actually laugh.gif

I have a very short list of albums of ALL time that I can listen from start to finish without skipping a single track. "Analog Heart" has been added!!!

My roomie has an actual copy of the cd still wrapped in plastic that she is wanting to put up on ebay WHEN David wins, lolol.

and he WILL win... he already has if you ask me smile.gif

This whole CD has been on NON stop in my car and my ipod and my computer..

It is amazing

Analog Heart has been pulled from amazon. The ranking are gone.

Damn Fox! Jerks!
NorCalKayla
You know, I was thinking about this today...some of the tracks on 'Analog Heart' remind me of Edwin McCain's 'Messenger' album. It's both the way David sings and the music - but that's fine with me because I think EMC was brilliant on it! smile.gif
kiwi
and yet Carly and Michael Johns still have pre-idol music available. weird.
getshorty
The execs at AI knew of Analog Heart and its success. These are very cunning people. I agree with someone who posted downthread, that maybe some of these songs may be re-released, under the 19E banner.

This CD is just to good, they want to profit from it as well.

I see this move as very good news for David. Can he get any hotter, his marketability is amazing!
shannabelle
there has to be something to this. maybe since Carly and Mj's stuff was on a major label Fox can somehow make money from it but since DC's is independent they get nada... just saying..
DaniTheGirl
Gosh, I could talk about Analog Heart all day long.

I'm in love with it... I love Searchlights, The Truth, Makeover and Silver, they're definetely my favorites right now.
And since I'm a sucker for lyrics, here are my favorite verses:

The Truth

"just removed from everything i thought i knew
there's no remedy
i see your face in every single thing i do
you've changed me"

"take me and i'm yours"

"if you want to know the truth
you make or break my day
if you want to know the truth
i wouldn't have it any other way"

Serchlights

"but for me, could you ready yourself
and hold on for a moment
just for me, could you bury it all
and hold on to this moment"

"i can ready myself to hold on for a moment
lock and key, try to bury it all
and begin in this moment"

"you make me fall forever
with no end in sight
when everything around is broken
could you say that this felt right"

Makeover

"she fell out
her broken legs won't let her walk away
from this town that couldn't give a single shit either way
and her fears
they bled before she's convinced that they're real"

"what are you looking for
are you looking for something more
it's not me, it's not me"

"in her mind
she is blinded by all she sees"

"but in her eyes you will find the very best in me"

Silver

"when writing your history
i will always be a footnote
a distant memory
a warning sign of mistakes made
the kind that you learn from"

"so take this small confession as my price to pay
i've never been the kind to let go
but before you up and walk away
i'm miserable without you, you know
this silver leaves me longing for gold
second places never carry me home
second places never carry me home"

Don't say a word

"so step down, look around
you can leave it all behind
and never hear another sound

say you're holding onto someone
that will never show you the same"

"so you're holding onto nothing
and it's showing all over your face"

Straight Ahead

"could you play me something new

so take a minute just to breathe
and think of everything you wanted
and what you got instead"

Fall back into me

"it could have been different
it could have all been saved
and now i'm standing at your front door, singing

when everything's the same and nothing ever changes
will you fall back into me
you see, everything's estranged
a million empty faces
so will you fall back into me"

"i was a name across your lips
it's time to spit me out"

Let go

"'cause it will hit you when you're not watching
i don't know why you won't let go
so let go"

Porcelain

"now you're over, you're so over
all over my head"

"your eyes have started fading
were they ever even really there"

Stitches

"and i found what i always wanted
as she walked away"

I can't get enough of hearing everything he has ever done. I don't have any of his albums at the moment because my home computer crashed, but I have been listening to everything when I have the chance. I really hope he wins this competition so that he can show his brilliance to the world.
SaucyAussieCookFan
I can't believe they pulled the album!! ohmy.gif

Do they have a right to do that? It WAS a pre-Idol, solo album. It had nothing to do with American Idol, so what I wonder is, do they really have the right to pull that off of there?

EDIT: I e-mailed a really big radio station in Columbus, Ohio yesterday and told them about how well Analog Heart was selling and I was just listening this morning and they totally talked about it and they were like "David Cook is BEATING Mariah Carey!" hahaha...too bad that it's been pulled now. I had to e-mail them again a minute ago and tell them that it'd been pulled, so yeah. I look like an idiot for being so excited about it yesterday, only to have it pulled this morning.

don't worry about it, things happened for a reason
the reason is probably too vague right now but don't worry about it

I don't think they could have legally pulled it from Amazon if he owns the rights to it. They must have cut some kind of deal for it...but the timing of the FoxNews article seems coersive to me...like they were seeking the upper hand in the bargaining process.

I second that! I call blackmail! They forced him to hand over the rights to his Analog Heart and the follow-up that was due out at some point. I say we call these dirty biz guys out on this dealing... At least maybe DC would get a BETTER deal if this came out in the open making THEM look bad!
SaucyAussieCookFan
That's just what I don't understand. How could they pull an album he owns the rights to? Unless, like someone said, they cut a deal. I just hope it wasn't a bad deal dry.gif

I'm in love with this album. I listen it very often and alot of the times I put the cd and when it's finish,I listen it over again. smile.gif maybe it's only me but when I listen to the songs, I sometimes imagine David sing it on the show.

I hope this didn't push David to the corner like: 'if he want to stay in the AI, we have to removed the album!' cause then we (the fans) will be very mad angry.gif

I just downloaded it and I have to say the two songs that just jumped out at me are "Don't Say A Word" and "Makeover".

They're all good, but those two grabbed me.

I am sooo in love with "Analog Heart." However, I didn't get to download it from Amazon so now I don't know where to! I have been listening to some on youtube till I found all of them on another website but I need to have these songs on my computer forever and ever!

Any suggestions for where to get the songs for keeps?

Thanks!

Oh, and my favorites are "Silver" (see sig)... I've been singing, humming, whistling it all day... and "Don't Say a Word" but really, they are all perfection. I totally agree with this album being on a short list of albums that I can listen to without skipping a song.

I'm so disappointed!! I didn't get AH either before it was yanked.
