During AI, David would put his hand to his heart as a signal to his fans. As I watched SNL, I saw him do this during Declaration when he sang "you love." Maybe it was a signal, maybe not, but it made me think of something.
We are going to have opportunities to see David perform his new music live in November and hopefully he will sing Declaration.
For those who will be at the events, would it be a fitting tribute to David if we also put our hands on our hearts when he sings "you love?" Symbolism is important to him, and this was a way I thought we could let him know we are behind him.
Any thoughts?

R. I do not remember it during the tour, but during Declaration on SNL David did a Tapping of his heart.

The hand to heart was on the AI TV show. Some fans on the AI forums asked David to do it as a signal for them and he did. Here is the link if you would like to know more. It was a very sweet gesture, and so like David. But as for the "tap" on SNL, it was a little different, which is why no one is really sure. It just brought this back to mind.

I think this is a great idea. I noticed on SNL he did it with his left hand.
I do this everytime I hear the song and will be sure to do it at the Hardrock.
Hopefully we'll be close enough for him to see it! Let's go for it! share the love

Hi, I'm one of the co-authors of the Signal & Sentiments thread (and series of Sentiment books) which was linked to above and was there for the start of the Signal... so I know all about it if anyone wants to know more. Of course, we don't know if the gesture during "Declaration" was "The Signal" but it certainly hurts no one to believe so, you know?
The first time he gave us The Signal was the Top 11 week and it was not at the end of the song like most of his Signals after that one - it was during the little snippet before the commercials before his song and he did it more like the thumps he did during "Declaration" last Saturday. There was only one time we feel confident he gave us the Signal during a song and that was as he sang "the music that I write" in Music of the Night because that was the first performance after Analog Heart went to #1 on amazon and then was pulled.
During the tour, he often gave the Signal just before leaving the stage (pre-encore) and they were usually more like thumps too. I could go on forever about the Signal, and about the Sentiments that emerged from the Signal, but I don't want to ramble on forever, lol. The Sentiments are still going strong at the Home of the Word Nerds for anyone who wants to contribute though.

I was thinking about this today while listening to Light ON
I found myself raising my left arm while he was singing 'stand alone against the world'
And then doing the Heart Tap when he says 'the love'
someone mentioned earlier that they wanted him to notice we were doing this, if we raise our left hands up and then do the tap, it would probably be much more noticeable from the stage, especially at Hard Rock where there will be so many of us in one place and all wearing bracelets on our left hands or wrists.
What do you think?

realiTVlover:
Since you've seen this from the beginning on the show through the summer tour, have the Signal & Sentiments fans ever had a chance to give the signal back to David?
CDHero:
Someone thought the Hard Rock would be too dark for David to see us. Have you been there? I haven't, so I'm not sure if we're going to be able to have him see us.

Well, he did it for us! Here is a video that someone took showing part of Declaration.
David steps right up into the air and then gives us the signal. Gotta love that guy!
