This is who Dial Idol has as the three lowest scorers if you want to go with them (highlight to see bec even though it's just an educated guess, some people consider Dial Idol a spoiler since they are so accurate): Megan, Allison & Alexis.

But Dial Idol doesn't account for the text votes, does it?
davidcookiesgirl
how do you see the results on dialidol bcuz i went to the site last night and all i saw was DC and DA's results from last yr. lol
willow
True. Dial Idol is just a representative sampling of telephone calls. Text messages are always the wildcard, like in last year's finale where Dial Idol showed DC in a commanding lead, but it was widely accepted that DA fans texted more than DC fans, so the question was could DA fans possibly text in more votes than DC fans could phone in? Obviously not, but there was no way to know for sure until Ryan read the results. Plus there's also a huge portion of the AI audience (like 99%!) that doesn't use Dial Idol, so there's no way to know what they're doing either. However, DI has been incredibly accurate and they recently tweaked their formula to give more weight to phone calls placed earlier in the night when call volume is heaviest.

So, of course, DI is just an educated guess and has no bearing on the official AI results (DI counts busy signals and, of course, AI counts votes, ie, the calls that actually get through.)

As for why you have last year's results davidcookiesgirl, I have no idea! Did you go to http://www.dialidol.com/asp/predictions/predictions.asp ? Go to that page and if you don't see current results, make sure you have Season 8 selected from the pull down menu on the top left and not Season 7!
kaliah
Is it just me or the season is underwhelming? I don't know exactly what I was hoping for. But nobody ever made me feel how David did. He was by far the best on the Idol stage!

As for my thoughts on last night, Anoop was excellent! Definetely redeemed himself from last week. He's the coolest! Hahaha. Danny was awful, I can't connect with him at all. Alexis' arrangement didn't help her, but I really think this girl is talented. Adam is just pure entertainment. He always makes me smile or laugh when he's on stage. He's gotta stick around! Allison has power in those vocals but her personality kinda turns me off. Kris is such a sweet guy, I would love when he brings out the guitar! Lil did not have a good night. She has a superb set of pipes but I think she's slightly overrated. Loved Matt and the piano! Megan is an interesting one, unique. I wouldn't mind her staying around another week if she would just stop those strange dance moves! Michael, nothing too special last night, but I don't think he was as bad as the judges made it seem. Scott -- what an inspiration! But he has gotta change up the songs a bit.

It can be a real toss-up for who is going tonight... and then there were 10.
MomOfTwo
I agree with so much of what is being said. There are people I really want to like, but just can't connect with. I can't totally comment as I didn't watch entirely last night. But commenting on why the judges are so enthusiastic or over-praising, I think it is because they don't have what they had last year and they are trying to compansate for it. David and David were so far above this group that on that level they can't compete. So they have to fill it with drama. TPTB for whatever reason, were not pleased with the "nice guys finish first" or second for that matter. They want to mix it up at the expense of the contestants.

In regards to Adam, I thought from Hollywood week he would win. I saw further performances and now I still beleive that, but I personally am not so hot on him. I may have said this already, but I thought that Gina Glocksen's comment that she wonders if he can keep this type of performance up and how she would like to see him sing a song with just the mic and no theatrics (I'm paraphrasing) was right on. It would be like could he pull of a Music of the Night? And I agree that he has a passion for performing as opposed to the music itself.

Oh! Oh! Oh!

I have been itching to get in here and comment.

Adam blink.gif laugh.gif ??? That segment with Adam and Randy Travis goes down in AI history as one of the funniest moments ever. I think it's even better than Andrew Lloyd Weber coming on to DC last year!

I have not been able to stop laughing since Adam said, " I found this really cool version ... sort of Middle Eastern ... with sitars ..."

Pardon me, I had to leave for another giggle fit. Johnny Cash and sitars? *fit of giggles*

And Randy saying - in his Randy Travis awesomeness - "I just, I just don't know what to do with that boy."

Seriously, THAT'S entertainment! I really want Adam to stick around for more moments like that. I am waiting for the SNL skit. Honestly, how could any comedian pass that up?

-----

Ok, back from giggling. I will go on record and say that I really, really liked Megan's version of Walking After Midnight. It's a style she has that's not for everyone and - truth be told - it can and has been very annoying. However, I applaud Idol for putting on someone who isn't a belter ... I just wish that person had been Jesse Langseth, but I digress.

Anoop and Matt blew me away. Someone always comes out during country week and just totally shocks and surprises. Well, we got the shock with Adam *giggle snort* but Matt and Anoop really brought it this week and blew me away. I'm so happy for both of them.
Karen.
I did not like Adam last night at all...just the song choice. That boy can sing...but my fav this season is Matt. Based on what we've heard so far, I'd rather listen Matt for an hour (cd or concert) than Adam.Maybe it's his theater training, but I feel like he's always "on"...performing and not singing from the heart, if that makes sense. I was surprised to see Allison in the bottom 3 for sure, I really like her too.

Prince is a genius, Adam not so much . . .

I love Purple Rain, own the movie too! But as someone said above, he's performing more than singing. But then again, isn't that exactly what David and Simon discussed after ARN, that it wasn't just the singing but it was about performance and charisma?

I think that maybe Adam needs to do different types of performances, and he needs to really show us he feels the music. Technically he's good, but that emotion is not there yet, or at least it's not visible to us. That's what we need.

Well, I didn't see it coming for Alexis, I thought she did just fine and I actually liked her better than Brooke's version last year. I thought Michael should have gone.

Interesting that the judges seriously considered her for the save, do you think she really just didn't blow them away on her final performance, or is it just that it's too soon to use it? And I don't think I realized they were going to make them sing and base the save on the final performance, did they do that last week?

Was the group song any good, I missed it and I'm debating about whether it's worth going back for.
Grandmajoyce
I enjoyed the group song, I was surprised that Alexis left, I believe Michael should have. I was hoping the way Ryan was talking about being "shocked" that it was Adam.

I don't think the judges were going to use the save, way too early.
cass877
Well, I may be in the minority around here, but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Adam. I think he's a genius and has amazing talent. He's not a country singer. He did what he could with what he had. I think his other performances have been exceptional. He's just a very interesting person. I can't wait to see him on tour!
Pam08
I wasn't totally shocked about Alexis in the bottom 3 especially if you look back and listen to Brooke's performance of Jolene last year but I still think she did enough to make the tour and would have been fun to watch. What the show did to her tonight with the judges making her think they were going to save her and then taking it back was just cruel kind of along the lines of what happened with MJ during his elimination last year. I didn't think the save would be used quite this early though. I have to be honest and say I would have traded Alexis for Megan for that bottom 3 spot.
ItsMyTime
Adam is not my favorite and yet I find myself commenting here and talking to friends about him more than any other contestants, even my favorites. He definitely makes the show more interesting, which is why he is VoteForTheWorst's backup vote (after Megan). And yes, he is getting my attention, but in a Sanjaya sort of way. He did himself no favors with that abomination of a classic last night. And that's not just my opinion... last week he was #2 out of 13 at dialidol. Last night he was #6 out of 11 this week.

I don't think he can win, but he'll last longer if he just gets comfortable with simply singing from the heart and stops trying so hard to outshine and outperform everyone by being outrageous.
monetluvsdavidc
Count me in... I love Adam too... His performance was kinda weird to think that it was country music week.. but then again, his performance was so Adam and his voice dynamics was awesome.. For me, it was sexy and hot and yet it was cool...

^^ I do love Adam, don't get me wrong.
But you can't deny the funny with Randy Travis last night.

As for Ring of Fire, my friend kept saying, "That's just too much for Idol." That's too bad because I think he's got a lot of courage and he knows who he is.

I would be curious to see him perform straight ... pardon the pun. wink.gif

I so agree with you. First, it should have been Megan going rather than Alexis. But I guess every year has to have that one annoying contestant who overstays their welcome. Second, I hate this judges' save thing. It's just stupid -- if people go, they go. Yes I hated it when Chris Daughtry went (although w/ the new rule, he wouldn't have been saved anyway since it was down to 4 contestants) and, of course, when MJ left. But to have every show end in "will they be saved or not?" is just cruel because it's obvious they're saving the save for Danny, Adam or Lil. And then what happens when we get to the Top 5 and Danny, Adam and Lil are still there and the "save" never gets used? But every week we get the poor voted out contestant -- already crushed because of the public's vote -- being humiliated by Simon announcing that they're not worthy of saving.

I really liked her too, I think they should have used the save. I only like Allison, Matt, Danny, Kris, and Anoop out of the top 10, and Anoop is probably "iffy". I think this season is horrible. Last year, at this point of the show, there were only 2 people I didn't like (although my choice to win was always DC!).

I think he's great. Hopefully he will change up from week to week. The versatilty with every genre of music was what made DC so special and so memorable last season. Adam has potential, juust hoping we get to see it.

I agree with this. I'd take Alexis over Megan any day. She definitely did a better job than Megan. Megan's very pretty and Simon's in love with her lol but I just don't see anything great in her quirkiness. Alexis should've been kept around longer. I never realized how few girls there are until I saw the group number they did.

Adam's definitely interesting. Not the kind of voice or performance I like but he definitely catches my attention just because I'm interested to see what he'll do next. Voice-wise I'm digging Anoop and Danny.

Next week you guys.... the REIGNING American Idol will be on.. or rather he's already BEEN on, we'll only get to see it next week. laugh.gif I CANNOT WAIT!

Isn't he on April 1? That's two weeks. Am I right or is it next week?

I am kinda disappointed Alexis was gone last night. I would have much much much rather seen Megan leave.

I couldn't believe Randy forgot her name and how they led her on about saving her. I dont believe they are going to save anyone this early and what they did to Alexis was not fair.

For that one, that decision of theirs got me riled up. If they aren't gonna use it, it's a sheer waste anyway.

I just hope they do not use it on the wrong person.

Yes, DC's performance will air April 1st. Here is Alexis' interview with Ryan this morning HERE. Just click on the play button. Oh and here is the tool of all tools. This is the interview that Ryan did this morning with Mike Darnell who is the executive of the Fox Network talking about the judge's save HERE.

Next week's theme is Motown and the performance show will not air until Wednesday because of the President's speech on Tuesday.
maywee1956
I am not sure how I feel about Alexis leaving. I thought she was good although I preferred Brook's version of Jolene. Honestly, if I had to pick from the bottom 3 I think I would have picked Allison. I like Michael...he's not the greatest singer, but he does have the likeability factor and I think that is important as they go through the next weeks and really only have one another.

I'm in the "not liking" Adam group. I think he is an actor and acting is where he should stay. I don't think we will see a performance from him that will come from his heart, it may appear that way, but I think it will be an act.

The first night I heard Danny I thought and posted at Rickey's that I though we might be looking at our next american idol. I still like him and would be happy if he won...BUT...I am really liking Kris now. I think he is adorable and he can really sing. He is definitely one to watch. Not so sure about the Matt hype. I don't care for Scott or Lil so much.

And for the others, well I can't even remember who they are at this moment so I guess they don't impress me much!

One last though I have been having is that I really think this group needs to steer clear of anything that was done by any of last years contestants. There is a large group out there who thinks Season 7 was the best and it will result in nothing but comparisons.

Looking forward to April 1st!

I agree with you on the save... it is CRUEL to mention it every episode when you know that the judges already have decided which ones are WORTHY of their save. And then to have the contestant sing and then find out,,, that's just awful. Just let it be a surprise. Run the results show like every other year and then at the end if you decide to use the save, announce it. Knock off the drama. After all I think most of us AI fans from the very beginning watch it for the talent, not the drama.

Oh and about Adam performing "straight" that was funny...
kathg
I guess that WAS Adam playing straight, weird hair, played the part...I don't care for the falsetto throughout the whole song, it was just ok for me;)
JerseyGirl2
I actually really really liked Adam's performance last night. He's got a good falsetto, it fit the song, and for the first time I felt like he was really singing from his heart and not just performing.

Matt was amazing as well. Kris, Anoop, and Allison did really well.

Megan really was a train wreck, and surprisingly the judges called her on it. But I have a feeling that if she gets voted out, they'll use the save on her.

Michael was terrible, did you all think it sounded like he put a country twist at the end? Not feeling Scott anymore. It's almost time for him to go. Danny and Lil were good but not their very best, but good enough to keep them around.

My prediction -- Bottom three: Megan, Michael, Scott. Michael goes home. (and this is without dialidol smile.gif )

I agree. He was better than before but still not feeling him. Maybe it's because of the impression he has already formed in my head so I'm already tainted I think.
NARANJAS
It's a given that Adam has talent. However, he doesn't make me "feel" the way David does. What bothers me more though is the fact that he's been a professional theater and cabaret performer...how is it fair to have him compete against the 16 and 21 yr old amateurs? It's ironic that Syesha and Jennifer Hudson got some much flack from Simon for being too "Broadway" and Adam is praised for it.
willow
Matt and Kris really won me over, and it's possible for one of them to sneak up and be a dark horse in the competition (Allison, too.) I love Danny, but he didn't bowl me over last night, even though I liked his song choice. But I was so disappointed in Lil. This should have been her genre and she should have had a stellar performance, but Heatwave has been done to death! I think Love Child by Diana Ross and the Supremes would have been a better choice, or even Ain't No Mountain High Enough, even though that one's been done to death, too. Something a little more dramatic and soaring than Heatwave. Oh well, Lil isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

I so wish Scott was better than he is, so that he could prove that he was there on talent not because of the sympathy factor. Michael is a nice enough guy, but I think this is as far as his talent goes, I don't think he's going to get any better (unlike Matt and Kris who have been getting better and better each time.) Anoop did well, but still needs that really big "moment" kind of song. And Adam is Adam, that's for sure! I wasn't too crazy about the falsetto throughout the whole song, but it at least showed that Adam knows how to mix things up and keep the audience guessing about what he's going to do week after week.

And then there's Megan...'nough said.

I agree that the bottom three will be Scott, Michael and Megan with Michael going home.

OK now I can speak freely, no spoilers smile.gif

Well, I got Scott and Michael right, but I was absolutely shocked about Matt being in the bottom three over Megan.
Michael was the right one to go this week.

I'm sure they would have used the save on Matt. Did you see Paula arguing to try to use it to save Michael, what was she thinking?

I don't remember when Ryan originally stated the save rule that the contestant had to sing one more time and then they decide. I thought for Jasmine and Jorge they decided before they sang but I could be wrong. And last week they specifically said that they would consider the save for only one of them, so if it had been Michael last week they wouldn't have bothered. Now Simon is trying to make it sound like that's the way it will be for all of them. I suppose if everyone is expecting that may not be so bad, but if someone has no chance, they really should just let them down easy.
DC5990
It was they could use the save after the contestant sang. They made the decisions to eliminate Jasmine and Jorge after they sang. They were planning on using the save for Alexis if she sang up to her usual standard last week, but she really didn't (which I was upset about because she was one of my favorites).

The bottom three was only partially right - Megan should have been there over Matt. He's not my favorite, but he was one of the better singers the other night and shouldn't have ended up there. Luckily he was safe though. I heard Paula going 'no, no' when Simon said they weren't going to save Michael. Was she listening to him the night before? Even if he sang really well before he was eliminated (I couldn't tell because I had headphones in), he's already had two poor weeks.

If it wasn't him, it should have been Megan (even though, for some strange reason, she wasn't in the bottom). But America did get it right. He's a nice, classy guy with a fairly good voice, but he just wasn't going to win.

Maybe the reason Megan has not been in the bottom 3 yet is because she's this year's VoteForTheWorst poster child.

I was completely shocked about Matt! He did not deserve to be there at all. Megan definately should have been there. I just don't quite get all the hype about her blink.gif Had it been down to Michael and Megan, I would prefer to see Megan go first (JMO)

Michael's got his own thing going on, he reminds me a little of Josh Gracin. I can completely understand why Michael put a bit of a country twist in his song---that's his thing. Kudos to him for staying true to himself. I have a feeling he KNEW before he sang his "last chance", that Simon was not going to save him. I don't think he regrets a single moment though... he had a good time, and he gets to go on Tour.
As far as Adam, that was a great performance!! I was a little worried that he was going to try to SCREAM a Motown hit, but he surprised us all. Matt and Chris have snuck up on me, they're a lot better than I originally thought! Danny is still my favorite for this year, even though this week was not his best... But I have to say...every week just proves the same thing to me over and over and over again...there will NEVER be another David Cook

Speaking of DC, Fox should really consider posting some kind of a warning...before airing a David Cook commercial---I was on the phone during the commercial break, and nearly busted my friend's eardrum!!! laugh.gif

I don't think he regrets a single moment though... he had a good time, and he gets to go on Tour.

As much as I do think Michael should've gone home (except for Megan...I can't stand her...), I'm really gonna miss him. I just absolutely love his personality; he's so sweet and caring, and I just want to hug him. Who cares if he can't sing? Let's just have a Michael Sarver show where he can just talk and be himself, and I will squeal like a little girl cause I think he's adorable. *gigglesnort*

During Grand Ole Opry week, any respect I had for Adam was completely thrown out the window. He had just ruined my favorite Johnny Cash song of all time, no way was I going to forgive him for that! But this week, he had me eating my words with his rendition of Tracks of My Tears. That was simply....beautiful. Just wow.

And Allison blew me away!!!!!! SHE'S MY AGE!!!!!!!! She just leaves me speechless...wow.

And I definitely know what you mean; every week, I think, what was David singing at this point in time. And I point out to my family that he was so much better, even if the theme is different. And they roll their eyes at me and pretend they can't hear me...cause they know I'm right. tongue.gif

I thought his taped performance was going to be on next Wednesday. They're going to show his video too?

Yes, that as well. smile.gif

I actually really really liked Adam's performance last night. He's got a good falsetto, it fit the song, and for the first time I felt like he was really singing from his heart and not just performing.

Me too! His performance was indeed the best of the week, in my opinion. wub.gif

There I was, hoping he would sing a ballad and sing from his heart, he did both. smile.gif

Adam is always in a separate category. Someone above made the argument that is might not be fair for him to be allowed to compete against 16 and 21 year olds with less experience. I just thought that DC had TONS of experience going into AI. He was a professional musician working side jobs. So was Brooke, so was Michael, and Carly, and even David Archuleta was almost a full-time musician, without the working side jobs part. He was in school.

I've always thought they should have a Teen Idol separate from the regular Idol to rectify that unfairness.

Okay I'm late commenting on last week's show but I'm gonna comment anyway. laugh.gif On the whole, I was quite impressed with the Top 10. Matt's growing on me, I'm beginning to like this guy. Anoop was good but I still feel like we haven't seen the comfortable, fun, confident Anoop from his school days, singing acapella with his schoolmates. I prefer the youtube vids I've seen of him from when he was in school to what I've seen on AI so far. I really like Michael and I think he CAN sing, he doesn't have a powerful voice but he's decent enough, I think the judges were too hard on him last night. Danny was all over the place, good vocals but cheesy dancing and I didn't like him moving all over the stage, kind of unfocused and not comfortably performing. I don't like Scott's voice, never did from day one, I'm impressed that he can play the piano but not impressed by the voice. Kris is just meh to me.

Out of the girls, Allison of course hit it out of the park. I don't like Megan's style of singing. She's gorgeous tho. Lil failed to impress, Simon was right, she could've had a MOMENT with Motown night. Remember how MANY moments Dave had on the show? Hello made everyone sit up. Billie Jean will forever be an ICONIC performance on the AI stage for seasons past, present and future. Little Sparrow = the haircut/makeover that defined his hearthrob status. Always Be My Baby.... just CLASSIC. Music of the Night was not a Dave moment for me but it was for MANY so I'll include it here. Innocent was not a Dave moment for many BUT it was for me so yeah that stands out in my book and of course the defining moment of all.. THE WORLD I KNOW.. sigh.. just beautiful.

Okay I digress, I was critiquing AI8.. heh! Adam impressed me the most last night. Damn him laugh.gif he's making me like him despite my not wanting to. He definitely stands out week after week. I am still not a fan of his voice but I will admit when he does a great job. I normally do not like guys singing in a falsetto but he made it work with his rendition, excellent control and he reminded me of a long ago favourite song. Tracks of My Tears is such a classic. Sometimes you just gotta go back and listen to these songs from the past again, these types of songs are just timeless. Adam's a smart dude and its obvious he's a natural performer.

I wanted Megan gone. Matt definitely did NOT belong in the bottom 3. Maybe it was the curse of going first, I never bought into that but who knows.

I just read that Danny's grandfather passed away and he went back to Milwaukee this weekend. Poor guy!
He'll be back for tonight's show.
