^weird :| ... actually this season is pretty lackluster.

as for the save , i was a bit surprised they used it on matt. however, after reading everyone comments though i agree that it was just for the buzz and matt will probably go home next week anyway.

I have to say, I didn’t think they’d do it but I was pleasantly surprised that they used the save on Matt. And not just because I like him. I’m not a fan of having the save in the show in the first place. It overrides what the American public wants and what’s the point of having them vote for someone if you’re going to overrule them? So while I don’t feel that they had to use the save just for the sake of using it, I think after making a big deal when they reinstated it and all the drama each week of watching these poor kids desperately try for another chance, it would have been anticlimactic had they let it go to waste. So my thinking is that while, yes, America voted Matt off and should have been gone according to their wishes, next week I’m pretty sure would have been Lil’s week to go. I also think next week is the last week they would have been able to use the save and I did NOT want it used on Lil (although pissing Simon off was a sure sign that she will not be saved). The judges also have nothing much to lose using the save at this point because its clear who they want to be the top 4 – Adam, Danny, Kris and Allison – and I really don’t feel any of those four will be in danger of going before the remaining three. Next week’s two to go will probably be any combination of Matt, Lil and Anoop, I think for them its just a fight for fifth place.

The save made for great dramatic TV last night and I’m sure the producers are hoping that the generated buzz will result in increased ratings which have been lagging. But for me personally, this was the first time this season I felt connected with the contestants. Its sappy, but their reactions were so heartwarming to see. The Idols on the sidelines cheering Matt on and yelling out encouragement, then chanting “Save” along with the audience, Matt’s tears, the desperate swan song, Paula and Kara acting ridiculously fangirly, the kids rushing the stage to bear hug each other. It was intense.

I have to agree, Tee. Good drama. And I loved seeing the kids jumping all over Matt. This was exactly the right time to use it, not so early that it would be wasted, and not so late that it really impacts the outcome dramatically. If the fans really want Matt gone, there are a couple more weeks to do so.....If he redeems himself, well good for him!
Cookie's Girl
I REALLY wish Lil had been eliminated. I just can't stand her. At all. She has a really bad attitude problem.

While Matt is not my favorite, I do like him for his personality. Agreed with some others, I loved when the other contestants were jumping all over him. Did you see Kris? I think I nearly died....that was adorable.

As for next week's theme...I honestly think it's going to be a trainwreck. The only person I can see doing well is Adam, because he pretty much OWNS every week, no matter what (excluding Grand Ole Op'ry). I think that Kris, Matt and Allison are going to struggle. I HOPE Lil struggles, but idk with her...

So, my top 4:
Kris
Allison
Adam
Danny
Amigone412
I actually heart Matt Giraud... he's my fourth fave, followed by Allison Iraheta at three and Kris Allen at two. But my absolute favorite this season is Danny Gokey. I adore him, but not as much as David. smile.gif
Pam08
I have to honestly say I hope next week is Lil's swan song. Her attitude this week with the judges was just too OTT. The word is basically that Simon gave in last night in regards to the save so that they wouldn't have to use it on Anoop next week since it would have been the last possible week to use it. Personally, I like Anoop but I know there can only be one winner and someone has to go each week and looking at the way things stand right now, I think next week will be his last. I'm glad the save was finally used so that this drama could finally come to an end although realizing 2 will get the boot next week. I think it was used at the right time IMO. I'm really dreading this disco theme for next week. I think Adam will have no problems though.

I was thinking that instead of the judges' save, which has really been awkward this year and humiliating for those not deemed worthy of being saved, they should have done what "The Amazing Race" does and have a surprise non-elimination week. Before the season starts the producers could have picked a random week, like week 7, where no one would go home, but none of the contestants would know which week it would be, kind of like the year they didn't send anyone home during IGB week. You still get your surprise factor, you still get your feel good moment, and you still get your drama as two go home the following week, but you don't have the awkwardness of the fake deliberation. Again, I think they were going to use the save last week no matter who it was just for the buzz.

In the meantime, I'm looking forward to Disco week. I'm going into it expecting a train wreck, but hoping for a few good surprises.
IloveHockey
lmao train wreals i dont think i can watch

I miss David. sad.gif

I don't enjoy this season AT ALL, I don't care that it's even on. There is no one this year who even comes close to David. I've gone back and re-watched the entire season from last year instead of watching this season.

Did I mention I miss David? sad.gif
JerseyGirl2
well well, not a train wreck at all. I was pretty impressed with what some of them did with the disco theme night.

Adam was Adam, and it was impressive, I must say, I think he screeching really is part of who he is (to borrow a term from Kara) and for some reason it didn't bother me at all this week, it fit.

Kris was awesome, I loved that arrangement.

Allison can sing, she rocked out Donna Summer, loved it!

Danny sings well -- Mr. Consistency, but didn't blow me away.

Matt saved himself I think. Solid, but will be bottom three.

Anoop and Lil weren't horrible, but someone's got to be the bottom two that leave.

Archie's on tomorrow night -- my co-worker will be there, let's see if he has anything interesting to report!
kathg
Last night was much better than I expected.

Kris was incredible, Allison too. Danny sings great, but I'm still disappointed with him, I can't put my finger on it. I like Matt & thought he did ok, wish he did something with the piano. I tried to like Adam, but that screeching and whiney face got to me again, sorry:( I think Lil and Anoop should go this week.

This season is doing nothing for me!

Why do they keep saying that they are all the most talented they have had?? Did they forget last year?? I think even the worst of last year was better than the best of this year.

I know they all keep saying the best 7 of all time......What are they obligated to say that, because it is the furthest thing from the truth! ! ! !

IDK -- Danny and Allison are just OK for me - while Adam is for sure different - dont know if he will really make it????

Can't beat season 7 no matter what they say!

Yikes, I just saw that, Grandmajoyce. And I agree with Chuckecheese - I sooooo miss Season 7. I really liked the kids (of course, I loved and still do love David) and connected with them. I just don't feel any connection to these contestants. Adam is my favorite and Kris second. After that, I honestly don't care.................

Actually, I heard Randy say last night that they are "one of the most talented groups they have had" so maybe they aren't trying to dismiss last year at all. I also believe later that he said that they are the most talented "Top 7" they've had. I think that is slightly different than most talented group ever. If you think about who slid by week after week last year into that top 7 over say, Michael Johns, there might be the difference. This year's version was Megan and she's obviously gone. I don't want to offend any fans of the above person from Season 7, but I can actually see that comparison better than "best talent ever." I also think they are somewhat obligated to say that to keep the momentum going.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by last night . Kris was my favorite hands down. I really like Allison, but speaking as a mother of a daughter, I really don't want to hear a 16 year old sing week after week about her lovers. She can really deliver the song, but I'm really not in favor of the sexual inuendo (or blatant) songs she has been singing the last three weeks. David Archuletta sang one like that last year. I think it was Paula's pick (And So It Goes I think). He did it justice, but he looks like he's younger than he is and it definately lost something for me because of that.

I like Danny and Kris the best but not really feeling anything. With all the over the top praises for the Adam and Danny show, it seems like the judges have short term memories of last year. Paula saying Adam had the most emotional performance. ohmy.gif Not by David Cooks standards.
blue_sky78
Lil: Time for her to go. I haven't been blown away by her since the Top 12.

Kris: Impressing me more since the last couple of weeks. I liked the accoustic arrangement and he made it different. I'm not jumping out of my chair applauding him but he made it interesting.

Danny: Not very original but enthusiastic performance and GOOD vocals. He doesn't seem to do much with tweaking songs but relies more on delivering power vocals.

Allison: She made it rock. Overall it was an okay performance but kinda lost my attention towards the end of it.

Adam: I was actually surprised he toned it down but then again that's Adam for ya, a surprise every week. Great vocals and interesting to watch but I still would not buy his record. And oh.. Paula's literally in love with Adam. laugh.gif

Matt: This was my favourite performance of the night. Not the best of vocals but I liked how he did it and it was obvious he took a bit of a risk, he wasn't entirely in his comfort zone, and was laying it all out there on the line. I REALLY like him and I hope he stays.

Anoop: Dawwwwg... *sigh* I REALLY like Anoop but I don't think that was a good performance or song choice or delivery. He's done sooooo much better in the youtubes of his performances with his school. So much more current and much more impressive than he's been on Idol so far.

Bottom 3 prediction: Lil, Anoop and Matt (although I REALLY wish Anoop and Matt make it through)
Going home: Lil and Anoop
IloveHockey
i hope its the same bottom two as last time.
because i LOVE ANOOP.
i appected he wont make it to the TOP 2 but i really want to push top 5 or 4

the thing is did matt gain anymore votes than he did last time.
or is he still getting the same people.

post this on another site so i thought why not copy and passt it here

I'm gonna give my thoughts on the top seven performances last night

Lil- not that bad but not that great. All of her backtalking is annoying but if i was in her position i would probably be talking back as well. overall i think she did the worst.

Kris- he played the adam card last night and didn't get nearly as much recognition as he should. To me this is best performance of the week. Plus, hes very good looking

Danny- First time in a few weeks that I actually really enjoy his performance. He needs to do some work before becoming front-runner again.

Allison- sorry to say this but every time I see I scream FAYLEY. ahaha that being said I think she needs to be herself and not what the judges want her to be. She has a possibly of going home tonight as the arrangment wasn't that great (but it was still better than listening to it straight wink.gif

Matt- Finally some true DISCO! Main problem I have with him is that he trys to cover up his notes with runs. As a former band geek I know that covering it up is actually worse than making the mistake. Also hes another that is confuzzled by the judges. He needs to be himself and not give a crap what the judges think.

Adam- Sorry but I have not heard the original and to judge him I would really like to hear the original. That being said this was the first time I felt any kind of emotion from him but the arrangment was a bit slow and the placement of the notes were a bit off. He was second best last night.

Anoop- I cringed when he went up-tempo. Besides Lil he had the weakest performance. Theres not really much to say as I never liked him.

Overall: I was expecting a trainwreck so I was surprised that there were no absolute trainwrecks but I'm still on the computer while having it on the background (while in previous seasons I was always glued to the tv).

100% safe- Kris, Adam
Pretty Safe - Danny
In trouble- Matt, Allison, Lil and Anoop
Should go home : Lil and Anoop
If they say shocker then I'll assume Allison will go home as they have been pimping her quite a bit lately. The other person going home would still be either Matt, Lil or Anoop in my opinion.
willow
Aw, I love Anoop, but sometimes I feel like I'm the only one. I voted for him about 600 times last night via phone and text (I still have my Go Phone from voting for DC last year!) I hope it wasn't for naught.

That said, I thought Kris was the best of the night (and I noticed that some of the guys are rocking the scruff -- guess they figured if it worked for David...) I knew Adam was going to slow down a disco song, and it was good, not as good as his "Mad World" from a few weeks ago, but it was definitely an Adam performance. I still like Danny, but like I said last week, he's yet to really move me -- he may very well lose his perceived front runner status to Darkhorse Kris.

I know there's supposed to be all this hype about how wonderful Allison is, but I don't see it. I used to think she was good earlier in the season, but last week and this week didn't do anything for me. Lil definitely has run her course. She just hasn't lived up to the expectations from earlier in the season. And last night's performance didn't do Matt any favors.

I think the bottom three will be the same as last week, Anoop, Lil and Matt with Matt and Lil going home, so the save last week was pretty useless.

And again I agree with you. I can't believe when they say that this season's singers are the best. Except for Adam and Danny they cannot touch season 7. I also miss the connection with the group and the camaraderie that they had last season. Of course I miss seeing David every week. I really feel the judges hype this season because they know it just doesn't measure up and they want to keep the momentum. I hope we can look forward to seeing David perform at the finale next month!

Kris actually blew me away last night...for the very forst time. Adam was good--he has grown on me a bit, especially when he does the more toned down/less screechy stuff.

well, I got the two going home right, although I didn't expect Allison to be in the bottom 3 instead of Matt.

Anoop was good, but the top 5 who are left were better, so I think 6th is the right spot for him (think of it, Carly was 6th last year). So I guess America got the top 5 pretty much right.

I think at this point it's pretty safe to say that Adam, Danny and Kris will be top 3. Of course there's always the possibly of a trainwreck/upset!!!

I'm disappointed that Lil didn't pan out, she was one of my early favorites. But it was her time. Glad that they let her off easy right at the beginning, rather than trying to drag it on.

I'm glad that they saved Matt, it really was too soon for him last week. But 4th or 5th is the right spot I think.

Archie was pretty good. But what was up with the aging disco divas?!?!?!

My co-worked texted me that Archie was really good in person. Apparently he got on TV, I have to try to watch again tonight and find him.
Grandmajoyce
Not surprised at the results. I do believe that Allison will go next but you never know.

Archie seemed a bit nervous, but you gotta love that boy.
DC5990
It was Lil and Anoop's time to go. I really liked Anoop and Lil had a great voice, but neither of them could go any farther. And Lil's back talking was really getting on my nerves.

I also agree with everyone wondering why the judges keep saying that this year is the most talented. Put them against last year... David, Archie, Carly, Brooke, Michael Johns, Syesha could all sing circles around the contestants this year. I'm just not as invested in it this year as I was last year. My mom's friend asked me who my favorite was I was just like "eh..." I really want Kris to go far though.

Was it just me or did Archie sound a little off last night? When he got to the chorus of the song it sounded fine, but the verses sounded weird. Maybe it was just the TV... I wish he would've sung his other hit though ("A little too not over you"), but this song was okay. But, hey, he's still got an amazing voice.

I, too, predicted that Anoop and Lil would go home. I enjoyed Matt's performance and was glad he gets to stay around another week. When it was down to Anoop and Allison, I realized at that point it didn't matter to me which on left. Don't get me wrong, Allison has an amazing voice, especially for 16...just not my personal cup of tea.

Archie was adorable last night...does anyone else notice that he smiles when he sings??? So cute! I think the advice he gave Anoop and Allison was right on.

I was really expecting Anoop to go home, and Lil Rounds, well, there was just no possible way she was sticking around. I was just surprised she didn't go earlier.

My favorites for this season are Danny and Kris, especially Danny, I just love that guy, but Kris has really impressed me. When he got through to Top 36, I was like, whaat? Cause I honestly couldn't remember him very well, but now I am so excited that he's around. And Danny, well, Danny's just great.

I'm sick of all the Adam hype, how he's the greatest, most daring performer they've ever had, with the most emotional performances? It's seriously like they've forgotten last season. Adam doesn't bring even half the emotion that David put into his AI performances. He's got a great voice, though, I just... eh. Don't really care about him.

I reckon the top 3 will be Adam, Kris, and Danny/Allison. with Kris and Adam making the final 2. Kris should be in the grand finals, he's getting better and better and catching up with Danny. And he's pretty sweet and good-looking too. While he definitely won't be able to beat Adam i fancy him pipping Danny to the top 2.

Not feeling Adam though. Granted, he's super-talented, with a remarkable vocal range possibly even better than Cook's), and he's arguably the most versatile contestant Idol has vever seen. While i believe he'll win he just doesn't grab me. IMO he has this rather annoying vibe about him. He seems kinda cocky and pretentious to me. I wish him all the best in his career but i don't see myself becoming his fan or buying his music.

I agree about Kris, and I'm hoping Adam is not in the final, I would much rather see Allison, Matt, or Danny. Danny is a disappoint to me though, I liked him earlier in the competition, but he hasn't really done anything new or different to excite me.
I watched old videos of Adam, pre-Idol, and found it's all the same, he really isn't that original, this is how he sings everything...the screech, the falsetto, the theatrics...not interested in him at all as a recording artist.
willow
I think Kris is definitely this year's dark horse. He flew under the radar early on, but he has been consistent and improving each week, and he's changing up the arrangements to make things interesting, taking risks (taking a page out of the David Cook book, as it were). Matt is so inconsistent, but I can see Rat Pack Week being a good week for him and his fedora.

Adam has become pretty polarizing -- people pretty much love him or hate him, not much middle ground. Danny's still just "good" -- he needs to have a Billy Jean/Mad World "moment" if he's going to stay a contender in Paula's wishful finale scenario. Kris just may steal that Finale spot from Danny. Could he also steal the Idol title from Adam?

I think Rat Pack Week tonight will be interesting, but I think it's pretty much guaranteed that between Matt and Allison, one of them will go home this week and one will go home next week. That'll set up an exciting Top 3 show with Adam, Danny and Kris, with the results (a la David vs David) not being a sure thing going into the performance night.

And still hoping for David to perform a full-on swaggering rendition of Bar-ba-sol on the Finale results show, complete with a backbend! laugh.gif

This is my last post here I stopped watching the "Adam Lambert Show". I like nothing about him and am disappointed that he has already been crowned and is doing his own thing before the votes are in. I neither see, nor hear, the attraction. Simon called him original and he is yet to be original.

I know, it definitely doesn't feel that long ago... wow. I almost wish he could've been the last Idol. smile.gif But I do love that show...

I agree with you on the 'Adam Lambert Show' thing. I'm just sick of him. YES, he is an amazingly talented singer, but I've yet to hear any of the judges call him predictable and yet he IS. It's like they're seeing through a fog or something - nothing he does surprises me anymore. Every week you know he's gonna change the song drastically, you know he's gonna screech and scream (Where is Simon with his comments on shouting? Adam shouts at us every week!) Or it's gonna be a slow, mellow song, and it'll be good, yeah, but it's just like... whatever. I'm totally over Adam.

I agree with a lot of the Kris/Danny comments... I really love Danny but Kris is definitely creeping up on him to steal that second spot in the finale... man, would I love a Kris/Danny showdown instead of an Adam/some other person finale.
