So I WAS a bit surprised that Danny got voted off..just thought that as far as popularity, he might have had more votes than Kris..but then again, Kris has been coming on strong of late. I have to say that I think this final 4 was about the most evenly matched talent wise...but strange that I have never felt "connected" to any of them.
Anyways, I am GLAD that Kris went through....and I actually think it would be pretty cool if he pulled off the big upset and won.

What's up with Katy Perry and her Adam cape??!?!?

I don't get that...and someone posted here earlier that Adam and she have a mutual friend?????
Should be an interesting final!!!!!!!

Well, if y'all remember, Ryan said there were only 1 million votes separating the Top 2, and that's 1 mill out of 88 mill. A lot of Danny's fans could switch over to Kris's side. Kris might have a chance at winning this, if he does really well. Wouldn't it be such a wonderful underdog story if he won? I would love that.

I am so happy that Kris got through.
Adam is so talented vocally, in the weirdest way, Kris is the only one who can challenge him because of his musical ability.
Michael Slezak said it best, Kris may be the only guy whose album you would actually buy, but no one can match Adam as far as singing goes.
I think it's going to be an awesome finale. Both Kris and Adam have something really interesting and original. I don't think Danny could compete with that in the end.
.... or it could have just been me redialing like a maniac!

BTW, did Simon really refer to next week's finale as a real "ding dong"
WTF?

Not the finale I expected, should be interesting to see how it all pans out.

OK, that explanation makes sense. Although my thought that Simon was referring to himself also made sense. LOL!

PS--just for fun, I watched a few of Adam's performances again tonight that i had saved on my DVR. I have to say that Whole Lotta Love was somewhat better than I originally thought, because now I could watch it without my initial horrified reaction that they were doing Led Zeppelin on Idol!

I love Idol, but I also LOOOVE Led Zeppelin...and never thought the 2 of them should EVER meet. LOL!! Zep is just too sanctified in my mind to be on the Idol stage. But...now that I knew a sacreligious act was already done, i could listen to the performance a little bit more this time. Still with a bit of horror mixed in, though....

I don't think people should discount what Danny accomplished on the show... he was able to make songs seem new and updated without really doing anything with the arrangements. Danny never really completely switched up the arrangement like David did last year and Kris has been doing this season (which I've been loving, and he has not been given enough praise for it) but he was able, just with his vocals, to make songs seem new, and not all singers can do that. I still love Danny but I'm ecstatic that Kris is through to the finale, hoping he wins it all.

As a Danny fan, I'm a little disappointed that he's not in the final, but I've also enjoyed both Kris and Adam this season, so I think tonight's show is going to be exciting. It's actually pretty liberating not having a die-hard favorite in the competition this year -- I've been able to enjoy the performances of several different contestants rather than focusing whole-heartedly on just one.
That said, I'm going to be throwing my votes tonight toward Kris. I think he's shown the most growth and progression this season. Adam is still a great vocalist and a great performer, and he's been consistently good the entire season, but there's just something root-worthy about Kris being the underdog or the darkhorse or whatever label they want to give him. Kris flew just enough under the radar all season, staying out of all the "Danny/Adam Finale From The Start" hype, and I think that's worth rewarding.
So I've got my Dial Idol, my Go Phone, and two cellphones all ready for tonight! I may not be as frenzied voting as I was last year, but I actually do enjoy the voting process, seeing just how many texts I can get in, how many calls I can get in. It's more of a game for me this year rather than the "life or death" situation it seemed like it was with David.
Of course, the big moment comes tomorrow night when David performs!

You know, this the least annoying show to watch. It seems the judges might have realized the audience was getting a bit annoyed with them. Adam did well with his first song, but Simon was right that it was too theatrical. The song Kris sang was one of my favorites, so I'm glad he did it again.
Can I just say - what was Randy talking about for Kris's song? I forgot his exact comments, but it was something along the lines of that not being the right song. Kris has no say over that and I think he was wonderful with it. It wasn't his fault if it was laid back. I also really liked the beginning of Adam's second song, it was something different from what he usually does.
The final song... I felt it was kind of like the Blake/Jordin showdown. The song was written more towards Jordin's voice than it was to Blake. I found it weird Randy said he felt the song suited Kris's voice than it did Adam's, I thought it was the other way around. I think they both did amazingly with it, but I prefered Kris's version. I felt that he wanted it more, felt it more.
Now I'm trying to vote for Kris and haven't gotten through once. My mom's gotten through a few times though. Good luck to both of them!

I really liked Kris's version of No Boundaries better. It was much more heartfelt than Adam's, who seemed a: not to relate to the song and b: was so off-pitch it wasn't even funny.
Personally, I think Kris won the night. Wouldn't it be so amazing if he won the whole thing?! Not to shove it Adam's face (he deserves it too), but to shove it in the judges faces! Whoever wins, I'm happy, but I really would love to see the underdog win.

I actually liked Adam's version of the last song better.
SURE WILL BE INTERESTING!!...to see who ultimately wins! Although at this point, they both have won........

Wel DialIdol.com is down, the Dial Idol software is not working, calling on my cellphone and/or land line only yields busy signals. The only thing working is my David Cook-era GoPhone and I've been texting for Kris, but I'm not sure my heart is really in it.

The whole show tonight was a big let down. Last year we had the boxing theme, lots of graphics and video packages, things just seemed slicker. We heard why Clive picked the songs he picked, the songs overall were good, it was good that the Davids didn't sing dueling Magic Rainbows. There just seemed to be more excitement last year.
This year was so meh. Adam's Mad World was predictably theatrical, but good. The other songs were mostly a let down, though. I wish Simon Fuller had picked better songs for both of them, definitely should have been something more contemporary like last week's One or Apologize or Heartless. And as much as I wanted to root for Kris as the underdog tonight, he just seemed too "light" and, unfortunately, No Boundaries just seemed too big of a song for his quieter delivery. But I did like his Ain't No Sunshine and even What's Going On, a bit. No Boundaries certainly ain't no Time of My Life, but I think it would have suited Danny the best.
Kara, oddly enough, had a point when she said to judge the contestants for their season as a whole rather than just tonight's performances. I still have a hunch, though, that we'll see an "upset" tomorrow night.

I have to say one thing frist after this season if Kris does not win I'm done with Idol.
Even tho Idol is a part of my life and heart and I will forever be thankful to them for showing me who David Cook was and all the other awesome arists we got from there. I just can't take it anymore I was super happy when Kris got round one. I can't even tell you how happy I was. But, Simon did that just so it looked better that it wasn't all Adam ya right it made him look wrost in my eyes.If Kris' doesn't win like I said I'm done. For one they made season 7 a lot harder for the people on it then this year and I don't think that's fair.
Two Adam has been on a big time mag already and It went a little over borad when Katy Perry had his name on her.
My dad was watching Idol with me and he has called the show a fake every year besides last because the people that were winning were not that good he has only watched seasons 4-8. Now last year he said someone good won for once he said that's was because the people voted for the right person who was David. He watched Adam's second song and said I guess Idol's back to being fake if he wins. He said Adam's is one of the wrost singing he has ever seen. Now I don't agree he was that bad but, still. It's just a point. He said Kris was not anywhere as good as David but, he wasn't really bad and could sing. He said if Kris won he would be happy.
Plus I can't stand how there saying Adam's so good when he's not and that's he the best they ever had on the show. The judges are forgetting a few people. Examples-
David Cook
Carrie Underwood
Kelly Clarkson
Chris Daughtry
David Archuleta
and many others
This season sucks David will always be my number one. Kris has to win he's the only thing that I like about this year.

Tonight had none of the suspense or passion of last years final night. Though the boxing thing was a bit much, both David's sang their hearts out. Frankly Idol peaked for me last season because it gave us David and man is he a tough act to follow. I wound enjoy seeing Kris win tomorrow because Adam is already a star whether he wins or not. I like Kris' style better.

Tough call last night. I think the votes will be very close, not a 12 million vote knockout at all (probably more like the Clay-Rueben less than 1 million vote separation).
Kris was absolutely better in the first round, although I thought Adam's Mad World was impeccable as well.
Second round I agree with the judges, Adam did a phenominal job. Kris was great, not too laid back at all though, but Adam was better.
Third round is crucial I think. I actually thought the song suited Kris better than Adam, Adam just powered his way through it as usual (but he did well with it). I don't know why the judges thought it was too high pitch for Kris, sounded ok to me... Kris had a bit more inflection and feeling. I wished the judges had better things to say to Kris about the last song other than he deserved to be there. I appreciated Simon's comments on the first song, what's up with him apologizing to the contestants each year!.
I think the votes are not going to be based on last night, they will be based on the season. Maybe it's a matter of which way Danny's fanbase goes. Also, a thought on someone's comment about the finale being Kris' musicality against Adam's singing. Randy especially likes to say that this is a singing competition (and he used the phone book analogy of course, predicatable). But I disagree. Ever since they opened up the competition to allow instruments, it became more than a singing competition, it became a performance competition. Doesn't mean that you have to be able to play or write music to be in it, you can just be a phenominal singer, but it does mean that the performance counts. Adam's performance aspect comes from his theatrics, Kris' comes from his musicianship. It's a matter of which one America wants in their idol. I don't agree that if Adam wins it means idol is a fake, it just means that for this season, that performance aspect is what people want.
Agree that I don't like them doing the same song showdown bit, it would have been better to do another song, save the final song for tonight.
Finally, kudos to my friend maywee1956 for calling it for Kris way back in the top 36. Nice job.
That all being said - can't wait for Cookie!!!!
