First off,
Morning interview with David Cook (November 19, 2008) -
http://wjz.com/morningedition/David.cook.s...r.2.868271.html3 minutes in, they show David-Cook.org in reference to his "website."
My main issue though and request is asking how you guys see the website. When they showed the website in the video, it looked like this:

I've heard a couple of people say they need to scroll to the right to view the rest of the site...These are people using screen resolutions 800x600 and lower. In the above image, they can't even see the LIGHT that flashes or the rest of Cook's body.
I use 1280x1024 screen resolution and the site then looks like this:
I would like everyone to please post if they see the website similar to picture 1 or picture 2. Of course it looks better in picture 2.
----------------------------------------
Here's a tip:Most websites nowadays aren't made for a 800x600 screen resolution anymore (example in the first picture above shows that it doesn't show the whole site). Most sites are made in width of 1024 pixels (sorry for the new language).
Now it's time to change your display settings...view the example below:
- Right click on your DESKTOP
- Choose Properties
- Select Display Settings
- Drag the slider off of 800x600 and make it anything of 1024 or greater...

You can also access Appearances through the Control Panel. Start > Settings > Control Panel

Yeah I know people using older computers with the bulky monitor use the 800x600 settings which sucks lol. Even DCO uses a 1024+ resolution...but like I said, most sites are made for 1024 or greater now so I just want to make sure everyone is getting the full effect of the site and not just partial

That's the screen resolution I use as well. I noticed the light bulb before this, but I can only see half of it, and I didn't know that you could see the rest of Dave either.

Mine looks exactly like #2, except without the Amazon ad for some reason...I guess that's my ad-blocker. I use Firefox with 1440x900 resolution.

I have the whole enchillada and then some - the new site is modern, goes beautifully with the album and lettering. Only thing - David has green eyes, not blue............. you know, those little details and all.

But yes, Travis, I do see the whole thing, and DANG it's amazing!!!!!!!!!

Travis,
I get picture 1 because I choose low res mode, but I see picture 2 if I change to the recommended resolution. The problem for me is, that makes everything smaller -- I know there's seemingly more turf, but it's not nearly as enjoyable experience for me -- and this IS a leisure activity! :-) I have good computer glasses and spend a lot of time online -- I know you're right about current design standards, I'm just saying . . . esp on a laptop, low res (larger) is better for tons of text - -and scanning a gazillion forums is all about tons of text. Of course, I could try to increase the text size in the browser, but 1) you'd have to let me by not overriding user options and 2) it totally screws with the rest of the page layout, as you know.
I think it's really smart to take a show of hands re: screen resolution. I'm wondering how many people have also noticed a slow down in refresh rate, etc since the new design -- I have very high speed Internet service and I've noticed much slower load times lately.
My last comment is re: user login. Am I missing the convenient front page login because I'm using lower res or is it gone with the wind and all logins have to go to a second page to enter name & password? I miss that old shortcut.
Love the calendar and poll area.

That picture is exactly how I see the site as well, whether at work or at home (bigger monitor at work, but access to settings is restricted there). I love the wide view site, though. A lot of thought went into this redesign, and it shows. Looks great when you screencap it like it should be.

Hi Travis,
View #2 for me! But I've just got to say you are so the web nerd! I just watched the interview and I about died on the floor laughing because the guy says he just looked at David's website and then your site pops up on the screen!

Not DCO! Funny because when you watched it your first thought was that's what my site looks like...Oh that's the best I've seen all day!

I have a widescreen laptop set at 1280 x 800 and get #2. I love the light bulb!! My desktop has a regular 17" LCD monitor set at 1024 x 768 and that gets the picture CRNat has above with half a light bulb and David's neck.
BTW, I love the new look!

It's on the front page as well in the middle of all the mess right above the images. It'll say Log in or Register.

My original resolution was 1024x768, so I was getting the view that CRNat had. I didn't have to scroll over to see anything. I changed the resolution to 1280x1024 but agree that it makes everything seem really small, so I think I'll change it back.
I absolutely LOVE the new look of the site, Travis...well done!

I see #2 and everything's lovely! I love the new look. I laughed out loud yesterday when The Dash was shown on WJZ. So funny!

Hold the phone---I am crazy. I went back to the HOME page (I was looking at the forum page-duh) and I do see David but the light bulb is barely visible on the left. It's more like the #1 view.
ardie4dc
Okay, I"m back. Too many interruptions to really be paying attention. Durn Work Place!
My screen is the same as CRNAT & Squeezil, but you know I can navigate through with no problems.
I love the new web site. You are quite the guru. I like how the back ground stays put and the rest of the page moves.
Great Job!!

Hi Travis,
I see the second display you posted. My laptop & desktop both have widescreens, so it's nice to see something filling in the space!
I've been wanting to post something about the new look. You've done an awesome job on it. I really love the look. It's always feels like home here. I never noticed that the light bulb blinks when you first get here. LOL Guess I need to look around more.
Thanks for all you do here Travis. I know I'm guilty of taking things for granted sometimes ... but you're definitely appreciated!

That's what I have also. If I try and go higher it makes the entire screen smaller, and with these old eyes, I need it as big as I can get it. I don't know if having a 17" flat monitor has anything to do with it.
