I'm not sure if I even get that channel, but it would be fun to watch Hollywood week again... Do you have Comcast, Grace?

~laura

Laura - I have Comcast here in NJ - I think it is depended on what package you have - whether it is basic or deluxe. I did not think I had it either but when I went up on the Comcast website - I did some searching and I do have it - Channel 198 for me.

Why don't you call your Comcast Sales Office and ask - even if you do not have it - you can find out the monthly charge and if you decide to get it - I am sure that they can set you up in no time.

cookieisacutie
laura,

I have Comcast and it is Channel 159. I had to call and have Comcast add an upgrade package to what I already had. Took them about 5 minutes (an extra $16.95 month), and I will cancel it after the month is up.

Exactly what I did. Except because we had the Triple Play for $99 they couldn't add the $16.95 to the discounted package. We had to go up to a $129 plan and can't get the $99 back. But we were going to switch to Verizon Fios in February anyway. An extra $30 to get the season on tape is well worth it.

Be careful, I think the link is a little old. I have Verizon Fios also, and when I went to channel 177 to set up the DVR to series record, it wasn't there. Then I remembered that, at least in NJ, they redid all the numbering a couple of months ago and everything is skewed by 20 -- so Fox Reality channel is 197.

Now I'm all set (just have to remember to put them onto DVD pretty quickly because I don't know how much room we'll have with all the other series that we have recording! smile.gif

And I thought January would be down time LOL!!!

PS I want a longer "All I Really Need is You"

Thank you Jersey Girl! I just happened on it last night and dvr'd it while we were watching-saw Asia's(sp?) audition(great by the way). All of a sudden it went off and I could not find it again. My dvr said it was still recording but when I entered channel 177 it kept going to channel 170. I checked my NY channel lineup and it said I had no channel 177! Now I can see from your note that it must be 197. So I missed watching while it was on-but I can't wait to get home from work and see David on dvr. Thanks again.

I find with the DVR some shows you can record just parts of it and some shows no matter where in the show you start recording it records the whole show. I will try just recording a piece of the hollywood week shows. I had from the top 10 shows originally and then I had to delete them one by one. I keep running to close to filling up the dvr.

So far I haven't had that problem. I record the entire show on DVR, then play the whole thing back (FF and pause right before the good parts) and press record on the DVD controller for the parts I want. A little bit of timing involved (you have to press record on the dvd recorder and then start the dvr playback, then pause/stop the DVD recorder when you're done), but I think I've got it down now. Once it's transferred to DVD disk, I delete the DVR show. I don't have enough room on the DVR to store all the shows either, since everyone in my family is always recording some series or other, so we transfer to disk asap.

I didn't realize you could do that with the dvr to dvd. I will have to see if we have a book around the house and see if I can do it that way. I would imagine the dvr and dvd would have to be connected through each other. All this type of technology is new to me. I just usually record and delete. Thank You for the info.

Watching Hollywood week... boy, I didn't know that so many tried to do "Everything You Do". I'm probably biased, but nobody nailed it like David did.

I agree with you - David was certainly the best and I did not realize the Simon made that comment to him about being behind that guitar.

Also, I did not realize that Syesha did not make the first cut of Hollywood.

Yeah, I remember seeing that when I watched later on utube. They've hardly shown Archie, Sy and Jason, and I don't think I've seen KLC at all yet. Brooke, Carly, MJ, David Hernandez, Amanda, and David Cook all got a fair amount of airtime.

So one thing I noticed tonight... what's with the blue tongues on Carly and David?

I forgot that so many people tried to sing that song. Of course Cookie did an awesome job. I also forgot that a lot of the people (including Cookie) had blue tongues lol Wonder what they were eating before they auditioned lol

I love watching this! I didn't even know I had this channel until I found out they were re-airing season 7. Looked thru my guide and woohoo there it was. biggrin.gif

I was watching past AI7 videos on Youtube a while back and there were people discussing why DC had a blue tongue during his Hollywood performance on the comments of the video. We thought maybe they were eating blue candies backstage until someone commented that there is a throat spray that you can get that makes your tongue blue and keeps your throat moist, or something like that. So it was either candies or throat spray. lol tongue.gif

That makes sense. They showed some contestants spraying something into their mouths as they were getting ready for the competition.

Thanks, Annette... channel surfed a bit last night and found it on Channel 138 (I think) - of course, I missed David's Hollywood performance, except for the part where Simon commented about him hiding behind his guitar... but it was a nice walk down memory lane. There really were a lot of talented people that didn't get in and some I had forgotten about in the top 24. Made me really proud of David all over again. I'll definitely watch again tonight now that I found it... And I LOL'd at the comment about "now I don't have to get a job"... wonder who the lady and man he hugged were.... not his mom, step-dad or anybody else I remember seeing since...

Great Laura -- glad you found the channel. I loved the comment "now I don't have to get a job" too, I missed that the first time around. That couple were probably friends or family members.

I gatherered from some clips of group rehearsals that they may have been given a list of songs to do and practiced them together.

The only one I really didn't see much of so far was Jason. I did see KLC re-do Amazing Grace, I remember being annoyed at the time that she basically could do only one song and that's how she got in.

Blue tongues, probably the throat spray!

Other things I never noticed until now --

-David was wearing a tie under the audition sweater vest

-During Michael Johns bits on Hollywood week, they cut to the audience and you could see David cheeing in a big way for him.

-When Josiah went home, Carly and Michael consoled him, David in the background.

-Pink tie jumping like mad at the back of the top 24 dance scene. Also, I don't think I ever really noticed that he blew us a kiss -- he was a flirt even back then.

-Back up singer was crying when Archie did Heaven (and my daughter started "aaaaww'ing" and she wants to hug him "he's so cuuuuuuuute", and then I said, but you still don't want to buy his record, and she said "Nope" -- not her style, she's been cookified)

Happy Together tonight!!! Later...

Jerseygirl2,

Great observations. I also noticed many things for the first time. Laughed out loud seeing him jump up and down during the top 24 dance ending

Also, I was waiting for his "I'll Be" performance, but they did not show it. Remember, that was where he said, "I got you this time, Simon." Been dying to hear this, but not to be, dang!!

It is so much fun to re-live Idol7....without the angst and nerves from the first time. I thought a lot of the top 24's auditions were really good, i.e., Ramiele, who I did not particularly like during the season. Archie is adorable, as always.

I also really enjoyed seeing David so happy when his buddies made it through.

Cheryl,
I agree -- Ramiele really did well during her audition and Hollywood week. Same with MJ and David Hernandez, but I think they peaked too soon.

I was always impressed with Syesha, especially how she could sing with no voice. Brooke did not wow me, and they showed almost nothing of Luke Menard or Jason Yeager, no wonder no one voted for them. I'm sure this has been said many times over the past 7 years, but the editors know who make the top 24, in the spirit of fairness they should make sure that everyone in the top 24 gets at least one decent clip of them during auditions and Hollywood, otherwise people don't really have a chance to get to know them.
ODCD
It's funny how we are all picking up on little things we may have missed the first time around. When David came back downstairs after being told he made the top 24, Michael Johns, Jason Yeager, and Luke Menard (the other 3 of the 4 horsemen), all stood up and cheered. We didn't know then like we do now that the four of them had formed a tight bond.
walkngirl
I have really enjoyed re-watching the early weeks of the competition while thinking about how David ended up affecting all the people on this board and so many, many more - we had no idea at that point how he would change our lives forever. He said later that after he made Top 24, he thought of everything after that as "cake." Wow - he certainly was a master chef - I will never think of "cake" the same way again. LOL

I think we'll see that later in the competition - when they do mini-profiles of contestants right before their performances.

I just cheated and went on Youtube to watch the Week 24 Interview and David's performance of Happy Together - looking forward to watching this tonight.

ODCD
At this site the top 12 boys episode that will air in about an hour is described as:

Song choices: David Hernandez -- "In the Midnight Hour" Chikezie Eze -- "I Love You More Today Than Yesterday" David Cook -- "Happy Together" Jason Yeager -- "Moon River" Robbie Carrico -- "One" David Archuleta -- "Shop Around" Danny Noriega -- "Jailhouse Rock" Luke Menard -- "Everybody's Talkin'" Colton Berry -- "Suspicious Minds" Garrett Haley -- "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" Jason Castro -- "What a Day For a Daydream" Michael Johns -- "Light My Fire"

I think that is the order in which they perform, so David will be relatively early in the broadcast.
cookieisacutie
Annette,

What would we do without YouTube? And to think, I had never been on YouTube in my life until David Cook won American Idol!!!

Last night I went on YouTube and watched several different videos with David. I also went and looked at Bo Bice and Chris Daughtry again. Very fun to re-live all these wonderful moments.

You're too funny Annette! LOL I'm going there to watch it now! Too much David is never too much David..... blink.gif

Do you think we're addicted???
MomOfTwo
I really enjoyed last night! I never saw the city auditions except for the last two, which is all I caught this time as well. What I thought was most interesting was seeing how it was edited together with the knowledge of who the top 24 was and how it was slanted. I noted that except for Jason, all of the top 12 were featured. I think it was especially favorable to Michael and Carly who I think they thought had a great chance of winning. Some of the remaining top 24, as mentioned, were all but ignored. I think its amazing that Jason Castro got where he did. I also think they really didn't think David was going very far or he would have been featured more. And I felt like I did originally and throughout the season- I feel like David H and Amanda should have been in that top 10 over who I won't say.

The other thing I really liked was seeing all of those relationships form-The Four Horseman, David H and Chekezie, Brooke and Kristy Lee, Syesha and Ramiele (whose name was butchered several times!).

And all of the personalities we have come to love were there as well. DC's wit about Simon being jealous of his hair and his adorable dance at the end. Michael's dance as well (such were the beginings of MAVID), Brooke just being herself, David A. being shy and a little bit of unsure what to say, and Jason getting through and being beyond laid back about it with Ryan.

Well, the show starts again in about an hour and I'll probably just watch the guys. I remember that after that first night, I pretty much had pegged the Top 6 guys although I was on the fence about Chekezie vs Danny (really talented vs cute and personable, not that either are totally devoid of the other's strength). It was also the night that I first realized that "David C" was really good and different and was much better than I had originally thought. Not that I ever thought he was bad. Just didn't realize what he had from that little bit from Hollywood. I never saw the Omaha audition. It was sort of like a "Wow, I didn't think he was going to be like this. He's going to be the rock guy this year."
Happy watching!
Jessica

ETA: Okay... I take it back... Simon just declared Archie's performance as the best tonight by a mile.

I just saw that! I had no recollection of her singing "Happy Together" also, although for some reason I do remember the "washing up liquid" discussion. I also think the judges didn't remember that David had sung HT the day before. I ended up liking Brooke a lot by the end of the season, but her HT performance was a little boring.
Tee
So far two of the girls have sung songs that one of the boys covered. Brooke did Happy Together and another girl, already forgot her name, did the one that Chikezie did. Interesting.

Is it bad that much of my attention is on the sidelines looking at David's expression as he watches the girls' performances? LOL

Brooke was one of my early favorites along with Archie. I didn't plan on voting at all. I voted for MJ a few times one night but once I got hooked on DC, that was it! biggrin.gif

Sheesh, they really tear some of these kids apart. I didn't think Kady was quite as bad as they made her out to be, the song and performances were pretty slow and boring, but I think she has a really good voice.

Since I caught this season so late I'm enjoying seeing so many of the names I heard of but never heard sing. While I like some of the girls, I have to say I could tell from the start the boys were stronger.

Yeah, Alaina Whitaker also did "I Love You More Today Than Yesterday". They must have had a slim collection to select from on 60s week.

I've been looking for glimpses of David too during these performances.
cookieisacutie
Ha, Ha! I also found myself looking for anything David while watching the others perform. During one of the guys performances, all I paid attention to was David's leg keeping beat to the music. So funny to see this again in a different perspective. He sure had that special command of the stage from the start, didn't he?? Loved the way he spun the mic stand during HT. It's so weird...even though I know he wins, I still am nervous with the judges' comments and don't like that they gave Archie more praise. LOL Archie was very endearing, though!! Such a little cutie pie with no idea how talented he was.

I don't think I've ever seen this first group number that they did in the first results show. Loved it that David got to belt out a line at the end. I was thinking that he wasn't getting any air time up until then.
