Dial Idol did show David winning, but Dial Idol is only a sampling of the voters who wish to participate in Dial Idol and not necessarily a representative sample of all AI voters, some of whom are more motivated than others. The other thing DI doesn't take into consideration is the
Text Votes. There was no way to know how many text votes were coming in, and it was commonly understood that the Archies texted more than the Cook fans -- but could the Archies text in more votes than the Cook fans called in? That was the main question. I did in-depth Dial Idol analysis that whole night (we held an Election Night Returns kind of live post vigil here until dawn!!) and kept cautioning everyone that while the DI numbers looked good, we were just going to have to wait and see since text votes are the wildcard.
The only time last season that Dial Idol was ever wrong about anything was the night KLC was voted off. They had had her safe. DI also doesn't predict the
exact person going home every week, just the people who are
likely to be voted off, based on their margin of error (DI makes its predictions based on the percentage of busy signals a contestant gets on the premise that more busy signals means more people are calling.) Sometimes in the early rounds the margin of error is such that everyone is likely to get voted off. The night Michael got voted off, DI did in fact have him on the "likely" list -- but so was David! In fact, David had a lower DI score than Michael that night. Text votes are probably what saved David then. Or, for the conspiracy theorists, the producers sacrificed Michael in order to save David.
But keep in mind that Dial Idol's "Bottom 3" isn't necessarily the show's "Bottom 3" due to the unknown text vote factor (and, again for the conspiracy folk, what the producers want.)
David took the lead in DI, either alone or tied, the last 7 weeks in a row, so the inclination that he was going to win was there for a while. For Jordin, she was in first place alone or tied for the last 5 weeks of her season. For Taylor Hicks, he was in the lead every single week of the competition.
BTW, Dial Idol is a dialing program you download and then launch from your computer that automatically dials the number(s) of the contestant(s) you want. It's not the illegal power voting schemes which put in multiple votes at once. DI makes one call at a time just as you would if you kept hitting the speed dial button yourself. At the same time the DI program collects your information (anonymously) as to how many times you get through per particular contestant and how many busy signals you get. They then put it all into their formula to get a Dial Idol score and rank.
So, there, more than you ever wanted to know about Dial Idol!

THANKS Marie!!!

Lordy, tonight is the night that Kristy slaughters 8 Days a Week, isn't it?
Yes it is and yes she did -- again!

This is my very favorite performance by Brooke, it was so beautiful, her vocals were raw and emotional, love it.
Seriously, can these Extenze commercials stop?

I put it on mute now, or sometimes I watch the DVR instead of live and fast forward, and tonight I just left the room to come online during the commercials. If I ever hear another "this
could be fun" -- yikes! Even the smiling Bob commercials are better than this one!
David was fab of course! I also loved Chikezie, Brooke and Carly this week. David H was not that good, but still better than KLC!
