Out of all the 13, Adam was probably the best. He took one of the more popular Michael Jackson songs and made it his own. I am slowly but surely liking Adam even more. It was by far the best performance and there were other great performances as well (Matt, Allison and Alexis).

I agree with Grandma Joyce, there's just something about him that doesn't grab me too. I mean he can sing, but I think he does tend to really exaggerate at times. And he's missing that likable quality for me, I don't know what it is. But he is actually my least favorite of the bunch, just my opinion of course.

David Cook and Adam Lambert are like apples and oranges. They are both great singers but when David sang I fell in love with him, he shows you who he is; Adam is one I would just stand and applaud, he is purely all showmanship. I am humming Black and White but I will always go back to David's music.

I love Adam! I thought he might be gay or bisexual after I searched pictures of him. He's still awesome though! I love him sooo much! I don't care if he's gay I still hope to marry him as soon as I turn 18!

I've been a fan of his since his audition for Idol. I think he's been doing an amazing job on Idol but I can see why some of you think he kinda over does it.

Adam has not grabbed me as of yet. I will have to watch and see if he grows on me.
Well, I have to agree with you. Adam doesn't grab me at all. I'll give in that's he knows how to perform on stage and is "different" but he is OTT way OTT.
He needs to tone it down a notch. I don't see him as a "pop" star but a theatre guy and though I admire that he is true to himself and is not hiding his sexual preference, I just don't think middle america will take him to #1. At least he isn't trying to hide that fact, and I admire him and he is definitely talented. He kind of reminds me of Elvis but Elvis was hot in the 50s. I know he had pictures on his site kissing his boyfriend Cassidy and recently he removed them, so maybe TPTB asked him to tone it down a notch because VFTW were all abuzz about it and they supported him. Props to him for being what he is and giving the audience a great show, but A.I. is looking for a Pop star as Simon repeatedly spouts off. I'll add my little conspiracy theory in that I believe this show trives on contraversy and drama and that ticks me off. If people are talking, they are watching and therefore, the ratings go up. They use these kids sometimes. With Adam, you either love him or you hate him. David Cook gets slammed last year for "not" giving credit on whose cover he is doing when in fact that landed up on the cutting room floor and then he had to have a little talk on stage with Ryan (prior to singing Little Sparrow) confessing & giving credit to two songs and A.I. looked blameless. Heck, they are still posting on Billie Jean about Cornell & MJ and whatnot to this very day. Cook said screw it, and then made up his own arrangement, just to shut naysayers up and prove something. Nobody else had to do that.

I think that Simon has a tendency to be pecular and picky anyway. To me all of them are good singers. It depends on what the judges are looking for and if the artist have something different to offer. They really have to be creative and have ingenuity and market that to the judges. When I was growing up, most of the singers during my time had their own style and orgrinality. It's important to figure out how to be different and stand out even though the person maybe an excellent singer.

For the most part, I often agree with Simon, especially when it is bad but I really don't think he is as knowledgable about music and current artists like he would have you believe. There were performances that I thought we good and he hated it. Most surprisingly, I think Randy is a lot more critical this year and even Paula. All in all too many judges, too many opinions and how many times do you have to hear you stink?

I didn't like Adam that much at the beginning because he just looked like a poseur. And along with Danny, they had pimped him way too much. And I rebel against that.
But now, seriously, he is the main reason I turn AI on. I am mostly intrigued, I can't wait to see what he does next. He is the ultimate performer. He literally makes love to the camera with his eyes (albeit in a dirty way). (Psst...On some boards they call it the eyef**k.)
I love the fact that he shocks people. I had to laugh at Randy Travis, I mean come on that was funny stuff. And I love that he has stayed true to himself and has hidden nothing.
What's interesting is that Simon has said that Adam was his favorite along with Allison. And I can't find that clip now. His ex girlfriend was interviewing him. I think it was a local L.A. station. I think last week Simon was trying to help Adam, in that the over the top performances are not going to win over main stream America.
Yes, I think Adam needs to tone it down if he wants to win AI. But I am not sure if that's his goal. He's already received a lot of notice and I think he will do well regardless. I would love to hear him sing a ballad one week, because I know he could do a great job. And the screaming is a little annoying. :0
His songs are the only ones I have downloaded, the studio versions are less screamy than his performances. (I like Allison, Matt and Kris too, but their song choice haven't grabbed me yet )
There is no way to compare Adam to our beloved David. Last year was by FAR my favorite AI season. I usually skipped episodes after my favorite was eliminated (Daughtry, etc.) or I never had a favorite so I
only watched the last show. Last year, even my husband watched regualarly, which if you knew him, you would be impressed with that fact. lol.

Lambert is who he is and OTT is who he is. He sings well enough, as do all the top 10, but they just are boring. Even Adam's OTT is just boring almost cliche. Nothing new and exciting. No one is "WOW" attractive and no one has that true musical creative genius waiting to be let out. We have another Kristy Lee another Carly and Alexis was another Brooke. Danny sings great but he is not exciting, cute , sweet , but not exciting.. A whole lot of Archuletta's who have the instrument but nothing extraordinary. Archie had the Tween thing going for him. I don't see any Tween bait here. This is . another Taylor Hicks kinda year. Who ever wins is going to disappear and never be known outside the IDOL world.
Last year every week had the excitment of wondering how David Cook would pull a rabit out of his hat and make those stupid themes work for him and everyweek we were treated to something spectacular. So far this year there is no evidence of that thrill coming anythime soon
The new judge is annoying ( I really dislike her music) Simon has been tempered and Paula and Randy are Paula and Randy. Hard to watch this year. I will watch April 1 and then I don't know.

I just watched this on Youtube because I had missed it. I have to say I found it really interesting and creative in a good way. He certainly made it his own because he is never going to be a country person. I thought it was less over the top than usual. I think the issue is that Johnny Cash is just so prevelant in our minds with that song, that its hard to fully appreciate this version. I had to put that version aside and I really ended up liking this version! I have to say though, maybe he should have worn one of those swelll outfits the Top Four wore last year for the Ford commercial! They are colorful and you can almost sit or breathe in them. If you have breasts, they are even more special!

Adam's Tribe.net pictures & siteThat is pretty much how I see it too. No there is no tween bait this year in the girl tweens fawning over some young male kid under 18. I think if Chris wasn't married, he might be but they would think he's too old. Hence, Simon saying that he shouldn't have brought out "the wife" just yet. Allison is the tween vote (sounds like Carly), but she's a girl. There are a whole lot of Archuletas and yes like him he & they did the tried and true format that got people somewhere in the past on American Idol that clearly doesn't cut it anymore. After David Cook you have to throw away the playbook of past years and the "tried and true" format because he's raised the bar and standards. I am convinced that if Archie was older (around 23), he would have never made it as far as he did and only did because of the tweens and kid thing he had going. Scott has the "I'm blind thing" keeping him in, but I can see him leaving soon as his performances are getting boring.
Sure Adam is different but not in a good way. He's theatre and not a true pop star. I don't know where he fits, not country, not R&B, not rock like Cook, Bo, Daughtry. His stick will get old as the competiion progresses. As it is he was 1st the first time, and fell to middle of the pack the 2nd week.
Cook played acoustic guitar, electric guitar and also his vocals. He was grouned, sensitive, and clearly wasn't competing with anyone but himself. He was never OTT, always sang with passion and had the whole package. He never oversang or overdid his songs. He showed so much versatility and proved he could sing anything and any genre and never looked out of his element. He made songs work for him. His was a Cinderella story. He never ever did karaoke and always made each and every song his own and did his own arrangements so many times that no prior contestant has ever done to that extent.

by far my favorite this year. I disagree with the thought that he is too theatrical. I enjoy his over the top performances and honestly, I think he's really cute! He has much better range than any of the other contestants & isn't afraid to make a song his own. He may be a little different than the others but that's why I like him. I don't even try to compare him to David, because they are completely different personalities. I like that Adam isn't afraid to show who he is and he doesn't care about what other people think. Anyone who isn't afraid to be their own person, even when that is being criticized after their every move, is awesome in my book. I can't wait to see what he does in the rest of the competition. As for him ONLY being able to be over the top, that's not true. He does really well with ballads. I've posted a couple videos below. ["I Just Love You" & "I Can't Make You Love Me"] [He does curse before he sings "I Can't Make You Love Me"...just a warning]

He is certainly the most provocative of the gang this year and is the one that will be the most interesting to watch.

I'll give Adam that. He does know how to put on a show but then that's what he was prior to A.I. working a stage. The others are at a disadvantage in that regard. However, I cannot look at him when he performs. He really makes me cringe. He belongs on Broadway in my opinion and that's not what A.I. is looking for. Frankly, I liked Kris's performance and Allison and even Anoop's performances better than his. DialIdol had Danny as #1 which I found surprising. Danny's has a strong fanbase. I think Adam's prior week's performance was much better than this week's. He's just too over the top for me. I don't think Adam's vocal range is anywhere near Cook's but Adam's vocal range is better than any of the others.

Well, finally a voice of reason. He is getting to be predictable and he is overdoing the high notes and generally just overdoes the song. He's falshy and meant to be on Broadway. Yes, the slower songs stand out because he isn't screeching and his tongue isn't flailing. There is also no way on God's green earth that Adam is vocally better than Cook. Cook has control and when he hits those high notes, he then goes higher and Cook never screeched on those high notes. Cook is a dramatic tenor and I seriously believe Cook can in fact sing anything and sound great without all the stage antics, flashing lights, strobe lights and jumping around on the stage hopping everywhere like Adam does. Cook as we know had a two year Theatre Scholarship and that boy can sing Music of the Night like the real deal. That song is incredibly rangy and very difficult and I doubt Adam can do it. Sometimes I just want to hear a beautiful song sung to perfection without all the hoopla to distract me.
I am not too sure that Adam will in fact take the prize. Never underestimate what the average person out there wants as the next American Idol. Adam's a great performer but I hear more and more people saying that they prefer to close their eyes when they listen to him singing because they can't stand looking at him perform. Gokey has fans that are emotionally attached to him. He has a good voice, he has a good story, he is not a professional and we like to see the underdog take the prize. Adam is a professional. Though he wasn't a recording artist, he was a stage professional and puts the rest of them to shame and gives him a huge advantage. Now that the rest of them are getting used to performing and start putting out on stage, they just may give Adam a run for his money.
Though I love Allison, I thought Kris was the best. I really loved the song he did and his performance. It's too bad Simon didn't get to critique him that night but glad he actually said he thought Kris was terrific, which he was. Adam is the Rocky Horror Picture Show. There is only so much you can take of him.

Adam was flawless tonight. He finally sang the kind of song I have been waiting for. For the most part I liked his new look too. Though it's as if he's gone from Liza Minnelli to Kurt Russell playing Elvis. He has great vocal chops and I think he wants to be seen in the Freddie Mercury mold. He is certainly the most provocative of the gang this year and is the one that will be the most interesting to watch.
ROFL!!!!!!!!! Liza, to Kurt/Elvis.

I agree with people on here that talk about the screechy high notes. He is much better when toned down (slow songs). Although, I do have to admit he is one of the ones I watch for every week, just to see what he will do. Disco week should be interesting....hmmmmmmmmm.....................

I am really tired of him. He is being soo over the top pimped. He is even going off on his own and meeting with other stars. The idols have always had to stay together before. None of them were off doing their own thing during the competition. I have had it i with this pre-ordianed winner. My TV is off

Me too. While I felt he was good last night I still don't like him and how he is pimped. Paula crying, saying it was the most emotional performance. Please, I felt nothing. David would and still makes me cry like no one else. My how the judges have bad memories of last year.

'If i cant have you' was a really good performance! he was on top of the game that night...no over the top, hard on the ears notes...he was pitch perfect and delivered.
but not one of his best performances for me:( tracks of my tears is still my fave!
