lol so I just got done watching the show and they had the little behind-the-scenes clip when they are doing the commercial

Well DC was talking about how he reads magazines like cosmo

He said he reads them to kinda get the down low on how women think

but then he goes on to say that we all see how far thats gotten him because yes, he is single and he had a face that was kinda like *sigh, why am I single*

I swear, how can one guy be just your average normal guy but still so effing perfect!

It's strange, because he really seems to not "get" how attractive he is (obviously he is not reading david-cook.org) and retains that sweet, natural, humble quality that makes him even more attractive--- and yet, and yet,

when he sings certain songs, he really plays us with his eyes, mouth, hands, walk, all "those" expressions, the way his voice caresses our innermost "souls" (keeping it clean here.)

He is a conundrum, and he is a superlative performer, yet he is such a very real, true person, and that is a conundrum, too.

I love him, totally.

He reads Cosmo...interesting. I think it's a good idea, though. If he wants to know what's going on with women and how we think, Cosmo would be a place to start

I don't understand how he's single, myself. He really doesn't get how attractive he is, inside AND out.

haha I am not surprised, basically all my guy friends read it. It's like being inside a woman's head and getting to know the "tricks of the trade" so to speak.

Also he listed other ones such as O (lol), Vanity Fair, Readers Digest, etc etc. I swear he lsited about 7 magazines!

He's had girlfriends, and he certainly has no problem getting any girl now, he most likely just doesn't have time for one now or for a while anyway. Poor guy probably just wishes he had the time for one. And I wonder how that would be dating a rockstar or celebrity who's on the road all the time. Hmmmm....
Of course for DC, I think I'd manage.

I think that they should contact him for an interview. I'd buy it.

I agree with the fact that I don't think he knows how hot he is which is funny because he looks so cool, but like he doesn't try very hard, but maybe he does, hoping someone will think so. (was that confusing enough? )

Reminds me of that quote from Juno where she's tells the guy he's the coolest guy she knows and he doesn't even have to try and he says "Actually I try really hard."

I know on AI they have stylists but in DC's audition tape, he's got some crazy hair... that looks amazing on him bc he's so confident. It's a quiet confidence that doesn't come close to arrogance that makes him so attractive.

Personally, in all honesty, I hope that the lucky girl for DC is some hometown girl who truly knows and loves him for the person he's always been and probably always will be (if he doesn't let the fame get to him).

Obviously, if given the chance, I would ravage Mr. Cook regardless of who was single and whatnot. But I don't know if I've ever wanted more happiness for someone on the verge of super stardom.

David, you deserve everything that comes your way, including the perfect girl, whoever she may be.

Edit: after watching that video for a 3rd time, I realized I've been to where it was filmed. Can you see the buildings behind Jason when he's talking? They filmed the opening scene of Rent there (where Taye Diggs gets out of his car and thousands of people are all around him). It's in the Warner Brothers back lot. ER is filmed just around the corner. Gilmore Girls was filmed around there too. That's so cool!!
Anyways, out of star struck mode... back to normal

Hey Ladies:
Did you catch this week's Idol Extra show yet? (You can find it at M J ' s if not). David Cook mentioned that he sometimes peruses women's mags like O, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Cosmo to learn what women want.

Notch one more on the list of endearing qualities of the Cook man. My thoughts on this are kind of funny seeing David Cook reading girly magazines on how to pick up on women!!

I do not feel TOO sad/bad for David being single. Something tells me that it is by his own choice. I know a lot of HOT, SEXY, talented, intelligent musicians and most of them are all single for a reason.

To list a few...

1. #1 focus in their life is music
2. tend to be brooding or introverted
3. girls throwing themselves at them all the time and hard to define true intentions
4. creative minds usually need challenge and hard-to-get women rare bread in the music scene
5. they have lofty goals to achieve their dreams and settling down low on the priority list

By no means am I assuming this about David specifically. I do not know this amazing man, unfortunately, but my point is that sometimes it can say more about a man's character that he is still single and waiting to do it the right way for the right reasons at the right time. I would bet the house on the fact that Daivd is single because he has high-standards and that is not a bad thing.

These are all OUTSTANDING points. I particularly like the one about ladies having motives OTHER than wanting to be with a man for the person he is inside. Why should you commit to someone who really just wants to tell her friends, "I'm f***ing so-and-so" and get on the entertainment pages? That's no way to live. You might as well just have a casual thing here and there, but basically be single.

It makes me think of a conversation I had with my best girl friend a few weeks ago when we had a girls' weekend. She's single BY CHOICE, because right now for her she'd rather stay home and watch American Idol (LOL) than try to figure out what men want.

I am single at 39, (dating someone, not married, never married, never engaged) and I have to deal with the "Why hasn't anyone married you yet?" comment all the time and it is SOOOOO ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!! Like I have no say in the matter. I will admit my propension for musicians does pertain to my lack of permanent commitment.

That was a very cute video. I saw a little clip of that the other night on Extra. But the whole video was cute.

This is actually pretty close to where I am in my life right now. Just a couple of months ago I decided that men were just too much of a hassle and frankly seemed to bring more problems into my life than anything good. I made the conscious decision to be on my own for a while and not waste my energy on complicated and messy feelings.

Then Mr. Cook came along and of course the rest is history, lol. Let's just say I'd complicate my life for him in a heartbeat!
