I loved the remarks on MJ when they did not show DC´s figures and only Jennifer Hudson 16,700 and DA new single at 11,000 and then of course the slanging match on LO again about not even selling 11,000 and that it will never reach 800,000 and then I started laughing because it is so obvious that they had only shown certain numbers but then along comes Idol Chatter and all is well with the world again. 31,000 and 24,000.
Now don't get me started on MJ's. Too late---you did....rant......WTF is her problem? I swear if DATR sold 9,000 and DCTR sold 25,000 albums she should say great upward movement for DA from 7K to 9K and Cook, she would ignore or say disappointing sales of only 24K with only a +44% increase from last week.
Look Cook it outselling Archie from day 1 on the album, he's already reached platinum and on Mediabase (which only reflects 80% of all sales) he only has about 25K left to go and Archie will be a slow burn just like Jordin and he had his album released earlier than Cook so it's not even a one-to-one comparison on that. There was only 1 person competing with him that week he released and his sales were 470K less than #1 but they keep going on and on about him entering the Billboard at #2. His 2nd week (Cook's Debut) he immediately dropped out of top 10 so if he had released the same week as Cook, he may have not even charted in top 10 because people can only buy some many new albums in a week. Nothing against him mind you but there is no comparing the two, and I suspect that DA may be a one-hit artist (Crush). He may not get a 2nd chance to release a 2nd album, not as a runner up. Even with Daughtry's outstanding sales, he has only 1 album out in 3 years. He didn't win and therefore, he didn't get the same deal as the winner. It costs the label and the artist (in the case of a non-winner) a lot of money to release a new album so they may be very reluctant to spend that kind of money on another album.
Winning A.I. is very lucrative for the artist versus a contestant that gets a record deal. Everyone thinks they just get a label and a car but that's far from the truth. The winner gets a lot more.
The label and the artist has to share the expenses for putting out a record, promoting it, and producing a video. The label sets a budget for that and the artist has to pay 1/2 the cost. Clearly a new artist doesn't have that kind of money so they "loan" it. Say it's a $1M dollar deal. A music video costs around 400K to make so in a non-winner, the artist shells out $200K, which is taken out of the sales of the album before he/she ever sees a profit.
In the case of a winner, the label is given money from A.I. as part of the prize which is put into his/her account and they use that up (as the winner's share) & the label puts up their share also and the artist gets the profit immediately. It's part of the prize. Cook no doubt had about $1M dollars as his prize put into his account which he doesn't have to pay back. When that money dries up, then he's in the same boat as a non-winner--putting up the $$ prior to realizing a profit from the sales. That is when, if an artist isn't selling enough--they drop him/her.
NO, there is a big difference between winning and being a runner-up and if she loves that cheezy show, then she should give equal time to everyone and post news more about last year's actual winner. I sent her stuff and/or news and she never posted it and has even removed my links on news that I posted.
MJ rules that site and make no bones about it--it is not a free speech blog. If people outright attack Cook that's okay because they are entitled to their opinion as long as they aren't bashing another blogger. But if you try to defend Cook--DELETE, WARNING, BANNED and you better stay on topic which is hard because she hardly never has anything about Cook so you have to sneak it in.
I'm going to lie down now. LOL I LOVE THE DASH!!!
