Jamar?

Jamar?

Possibly. I just hope that some great contestants don't get passed over so that miss drama queen Tatiana is brought back on the show to inject more drama along with some of the other yahoos. Don't be surprised if this happens. I'm really beginning to dislike the way things are going this season with this new format.

Ugh, that would be horrific, but I wouldn't put it past them. The show this year has been absolutely awful. There is a strange awkwardness going on and all the trumped up drama is just stupid. Hopefully Anoop will get one of the wildcard spots and maybe Ricky Braddy, but I hope they don't put Tatiana back in there just for the shock value and the "buzz" that it would generate. Maybe they'll realize they made a mistake about Jamar and bring him back, but there still seems to be something lacking in the show this year. Sitting through 3 weeks of 36 different people singing is taking waaaay too long considering more than half of them are forgettable and unnecessary. I'm just glad David Cook wasn't on this year's show, he probably would have gotten lost in these early rounds.

Exactly! To put this kindly, this year so far has been an absolute snoozefest.

I hope that there is better to come. I agree that the show has been pretty lackluster thus far.

While those rumors have been creative, an “Idol” spokesperson said they are mostly off-base. Quite simply, each judge can pick two contestants from the top 36 — from which everyone is eligible — and those eight (or possibly nine) singers will perform a song on the one-hour March 5 show, with three advancing into the top 12.

The same rules apply as during the audition phases, with majority picks winning the day and judge Simon Cowell casting the tie-breaking vote should there be a 2-2 deadlock, the spokesperson explained.

By the way, the speculation about the highest vote getter automatically advancing into wild card didn’t come from fans, it came from this report of Ken Warwick’s December press conference. It’s quite possible the producers intended to do it that way, and then changed their minds.

Here are the scheduled airings through 3/31:

I agree with most of what everyone is saying, I'd love to see Jamar come back, he was interesting. Tatiana would be very bad for the show, she would turn it into a circus. I'd like to see some integrity in the judges wild card choices...maybe someone with some originality? I wish they had allowed the contestants to play instruments during the eliminations, it could have made a difference in their performances, shown their true talent as an artist.

One thing I absolutely believe is that David Cook would have still made the to the top 12 last year, I can't believe anyone here would think otherwise;)

I think he would have made to top 12, but I'm not sure he wouldn't have gotten lost in the first round. I think he would have made it in the wild card. He got good reviews from the judges, but so did others. I seem to remember Randy saying something about Robbie being a true rocker that first week. I think David got beter each of those first 3 weeks and unfortunately, we don't have that opportunity to see how people grow this year. The thing is, the point is moot and the structure is totally different so its tough to speculate. But with almost everyone doing pretty well in the first round last year (less crash and burn), I think it was just tougher last year.

And yes, bringing Tatiana would be about ratings, not finiding a gifted artist. But is seems like that's what the producers want or she and Nick/Norman would not have been though in the first place. For all the criticism that Sanjaya got, he was put through with the best of intentions. He shouldn't have made that Top 12, but he wasn't running around singing songs from Dreamgirls either. He truly wanted to do well. He laughed in a normal way and never once seemed like he was going to have a nervous breakdown. He wasn't trying to be a clown, hair styles not withstanding. America kept him going, not the judges. I really agree that the judges could go a long way by getting Jamar in and hopefully Anoop. Strangely, I think there lots of talented people that could make that Top 12, but at the same time, the remainder are just very average. It seems like two extremes.

You've got to look at it from the point of view of knowing nothing about David - stick him in a round with Archie, a sure fire bet and pimped to high heavens and, say, Jason and MJ, then it could have been very easy for David to get lost in the vote - they may well have brought him back as a wildcard, and perhaps 'Hello' would have happened then, but if this year's system was in place last year, I honestly feel there was a real possiblity we'd have missed out on David (and that would be a whole world of bad).

David himself has said he spent the first few weeks just finding his feet - this year they've no oportunity to do that, it's why, I think there's been so many crash and burn performances - too much pressure and no time to settle - you win or come second or you're gone.

I think they've moved the goalposts to allow them to bring back Jamar - they axed him for the drama, probably didn't realise how much people would take to him, and now with a wildcard they can bring him back for added drama, ignoring the fact he should never have been cut in the first place.

I also wonder if David who have made it to top 36. He was kind of in the background early on. However, I want to believe that he would have gotten through or made it with the Wild Card selection. Can you imagine not having David Cook in our lives? What a huge loss for everyone not to experience his magic.
