Lots and lots of rumors about American Idol Season 8’s farewell song…songs by David Cook and Daughtry were rumored to be in the running.
As it turns out, it’ll be a song recorded by Season 4 winner, Carrie Underwood, that’ll send ousted Season 8 contestants on their way out the door. She’s recorded a remake of Motley Crue’s “Home Sweet Home”

NASHVILLE Season 4 American Idol winner, four-time GRAMMY winner, and 2009 ACM Entertainer of the Year nominee Carrie Underwood has recorded a song for the new season of American Idol. The song, a remake of Mötley Crües Home Sweet Home, will air each week as the farewell theme for contestants leaving the show. The song will make its debut on American Idol on March 11, as the next contestant becomes eliminated from the show. Home Sweet Home will release as a digital single, found exclusively at iTunes through March 16, and will subsequently be available at online music retailers everywhere.
