I will post a recap tomorrow, however, I will say that barricade was a first....they never had this before.

Many fans were very disappointed in Cook for not coming out to a hugh crowd after the show. We were told he sat in his bus. Sorry, but everyone came out except Cook and three of the others. Michael Johns was great, as well as Jason who said he is gettiing a lot of Jason Miraz comparisons, Kristy was a doll, and Brooke as well as Archie.

No excuse for Cook...sorry....but he is the star and I can't tell you how many fans were upset. Wasn't Cook the one that said this concert is a hugh thank you to the fans? Well, I didn't see that from him tonight.

I will post my videso to you tube tomorrow.

Sorry for you that you didn't know... it's common knowledge and this info has been out there (of course word can't make it to everyone)... but Cook will ONLY be doing afternoon meet and greets from here on in. Other fans going to future concerts, please be advised so you're not disappointed and can make afternoon plans!

AND FANFORLIFE, sounds like you are NOT (a fan for life). He has been the most gracious AI winner ever. Got an attitude, take it to another board. IMO, fans like you, with your unreasonable expectations and demands are a big problem.

fanforlife - sorry you did not get to meet David, but as past reports of Fans at the previous venues have reported - David spends anywhere from 20min. to 1-1/2hr (depending on other obligations (i.e media) in the afternoon. After the show/after party - David has not been coming out to meet the fans due to other obligations and whatever. So please understand that Meeting David is a bonus - and anyone who is going to the concerts from now on - if there schedule permits during the day, they should be plan on meeting and/or seeing David in the afternoon.

fanforlife, I have heard that TPTB will not let Cook greet fans after the show anymore. I guess it became to crazy. He only will meet fans before the show. It is disappointing though. However, it is a way to gain some control. I don't think Cook is the type of guy to willingly sit in a bus and pass up an opportunity to meet his fans.

i don't see the need to critisize david for not coming out after the show. he's been more than gracious with the fans.
notice that the CONCERT is a huge thank you to the fans...he can't possibly meet all of us.

if he can't come out, he can't come out. period.

Well said, Scott! I am so tired of fans on this site or any other thinking that DC is somehow personally dissing them because he doesn't do one thing or another. As you said, it's been made very clear why he isn't coming out after the show. If fans wants to see/meet him, then show up before the show. It's not that hard. It's been said a million times before, but all he "owes" us is a great show and a great record. We know how great all of the shows have been, and I am extremely confident that the record will live up to our expectations. The rest is pure gravy.

....and while I'm griping, I'm also tired of fans who claim they have some great inside info that the rest of us peons are not privy to. But then when pressed on how and why they know something, the response is "oh gee, I can't tell". Oh please, give me a break. dry.gif

Agree that the security wasn't tight at all! I had a big quilted shoulder bag and not a single guard checked it. I didn't see to many other bags checked either.

But again, what was important about the night was that David -- and everyone, for that matter -- gave it his or her all on stage, which is all we are "owed" as attendees and fans, whether we're fans for life (me, for sure) or fans for the moment.

slw321 - with in the Philly thread - David told a fan yesterday that hopefully on Friday (tomorrow) their day off - he will be in the studio setting tracks for his next single. If management was not interested - RCA/19E would not be buying ads like crazy to promote DC, RCA would not have made formal press release announcement a couple of weeks ago, management would not be scheduling recording sessions, Sketchers would not be wasting their time on the photo shoot that just took place for the 1-1/2 Year Global Marketing Campaign that will launch after the IDOL tour completes in conjunction with the release of the album.

My thoughts exactly. This is a person who has supposedly been in contact with David via email, and according to them, talking a lot about the upcoming Philly show. So, you would think they would know the whole security problem that has been keeping David from coming out after the shows.

Also, the comment about David just 'sitting on the bus' instead of coming out and talking to the fans was totally not true. David was seen by myself and numerous others playing around on the grass by the fence with a football after the show. He waved to the fans several times.

I'm just glad that those of us who were lucky enough to meet David & the other idols yesterday were not discouraged from trying after ALL the nagative comments that depressed so many of us. smile.gif

Spot on Scott, the fact that, with his unbelievable schedule, he actually takes the time to come out before virtually very concert is amazing enough - when he's not travelling he's writing and recording, when he's not recording he's given concerts, when he's not any of those he's fulfilling media commitments/photoshoots, I haven't quite figured out when he gets the chance to sleep or eat, and yet he still makes time at virtually ever stop on the tour for the fans.

Scott
You know, I'm not an overly emotional person - although David does seem to bring it out in me - but it really hurts me when someone who is such a magnificent human being is attacked. I know, many people will say we don't really KNOW him... but that doesn't change what we DO know about him, how he's conducted himself for months, and what his persona is (whether it's one he's just "projecting" or it's the "real" him. Doesn't matter). And even if he has a bad day and snaps at a fan, has this man not earned like a thousand free passes from us? I'm just really roiled about this. Much more than David probably ever would be if he was reading this thread.

Perhaps some fans need to be reminded that during the Idol tour the ONLY thing David owes us fans is a great concert. The meet & greets, bus meetings, after-show signing insanity...that is all a perk that has been provided by the Idols when they have time. It was not included in the price of your ticket. Let's cut all of the Idols some slack here. They have been more than gracious and will be there to meet fans whenever they can, I am sure. Let's keep it positive! smile.gif

You know what, take it up with the American Idol tour producers. It's THEIR job to keep fans better informed and have people ON SITE to let them know what's happening. IT IS NOT DAVID'S JOB. AND I WILL KEEP MAKING EXCUSES FOR HIM. I will defend him to the end. If you are emailing personal complaints to him, then you are, in my opinion, a moron.

That is exactly why i have let this get to me so much. David has been nothing if not kind, generous and sweet to his fans throughout the tour. The fact that he doesn't come out after the show...regardless of the reason...when he normally does before the show, is absolutely not a reason to attack him. Anyone who has waited to meet the idols during this tour know that the crowds are much larger and out of control after the concert. The fact that he *has* come out at almost all of the shows, proves that he cares about us. The fact that this person gets immediately defensive and starts backtracking on things they have posted here in the past, says a lot.
We can't help but be protective of David. If someone comes here and starts throwing around accusations, they can't expect us not to react to that.

Even before day one... when they arrived in Glendale. David got the other Idols out and made sure these meet and greets were long and thorough. He pulled the others off the buses that first day in Arizona. How quickly some people forget.

And fanforlife, what did you expect from us here in d-c.org? Are you not even remotely aware of what insane meg-fans we are of David's, and how many hours of threads we've written that are devoted to his strength of character every bit as much as to his brilliant music and sexy looks? Of course we will defend him in this area.
Cooked by Cook
I know that we are probably speculating waaay too much as far as why David doesn't come out after the show. I personally didn't get to meet him. I was at the first show at Glendale. He was the first one off the bus after the show...got everyone out of the buses...and goofed around for at least a half hour with all the other idols.( I never saw Archie come out and Jason was out briefly) He was so happy trying to talk to fans and picking up notes etc...
However, I think that because of the dumb sign that" supposedly" was a joke, but did THREATEN his life, he and probably his management team don't want him out after the show. I also read that he got cuzzed out at couple of shows. This is just my take on the whole thing, since he is the winner some disgruntled fans took it too far, saying and doing things to him that pushed him into making the decision of staying in after the show. I don't think it is just his fans acting crazy, I think others that are not fans may have overstepped some bounderies. I personally wish he or someone would clear the air because I don't want him to loose any fan support over this. I personally don't care if he comes out or not, I think he has shown what a good person he is, and how grateful he is to his fans, and goes out of his way to show us his gratitude. wink.gif

Stand up and take a bow Scott! That was a lovely post. It's true that I don't really know David. But I can say that he is polite, funny, well spoken and obviously thankful for his fans. He said that he didn't have much time yesterday before the show but he stayed outside until he had spoken to everyone and signed everything. It wasn't a rushed Hello, thank you either. He answered questions and truly seemed interested in what the fans had to say. He hugged fans, let one girl sign his hat when she asked(he got a chuckle out of that one. He took the time explain that he would sign one fan's Axium cd "But I have to tell you that the guy selling these is gouging the fans. He is charging way too much for something you should be getting free". When someone thanked him for bringing the Mavid dance back he said that he fights for what is important.

I saw no arrogance or attitude in him at all. He was open, silly, warm and gracious. I got the feeling that he truly enjoys his time spent with the fans. From what I saw he treated every fan with respect. It didn't matter if they were young, old, fat, thin, pretty, ugly, female or male. It's just a guess on my part but I think that if he could come out after the shows he would. He does not hug like a man that is greeting fans because he HAS TO. He gave me a big two armed tight squeeze hug(yes I asked if he was ok with a hug first). He seemed to like my tat of a line of his lyrics because he bowed to me and called me darlin. I wrote him a short note explaining how music helped me through a very difficult time in my personal life and some serious medical problems my son has had.

I left Philadelphia last night feeling like I had met a man who not only is extremely talented but a man who truly cares about people.

omg the concert was amazing
and my seats we unbelieveable
i loved the whole entire show, sadly my dad couldn't bring me down earlier to try to meet the idols
but thats okay
david cook was simply amazing and he is soooo good live

i can't wait until he starts performaning on his known

but yeah if the whole not meeting the idols thing is starting to get ridicolous
it like look how many bands and artist are out there in this world that does show every night
sure they would love to meet their fans, but after putting on a long show sometimes they just want to relax
and i think that fans should get out of control and angry with them, they should respect that are not only famous, but that they are human too just like everyone else in this world.

COOKED BY COOK - THANK YOU - Boy, Glendale seems like such a long time ago. You have brought up really good points. Over the weeks as you know so much happened at various venues majority wonderful experiences, but there have been a few hic ups along the way.

Especially here on the East Coast David has had oppty to fly back to LA on days off to continue recording, tracking the CD, photo shoots, ect. You really hit the nail on the head by saying he has shown what a good person he is as a human being, musician, artist, what he is doing regarding Cancer Awareness, and how grateful he is to his fans, and goes out of his way to show us his gratitude.

I have not had the oppty to meet him yet, (I have said that I am stil "In Waiting" to meet David), but if it is mean't to be sometime when he is here back in NY - great - that will be a bonus - if not - I will certainly support him in all his efforts for a very long time.

Well said Scott!!! I don't normally post over here, but I just had to respond to all of this. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I don't think that it is necessary to be so negative all the time, fanforlife. I know it has been said before, but by all accounts, David has been more than generous and inclusive with his fans and I think he should be shown appreciation for that, not criticized.

I'm just glad that David has plenty of fans who are appreciative of all that he gives us. He certainly does not HAVE to do all that he does. He does not owe us anything! And I feel sorry for those who seem to be constantly disappointed by what he does not do. It's kind of sad that you can't just appreciate what he has given to his fans.

I don't think it is just his fans acting crazy, I think others that are not fans may have overstepped some bounderies. I personally wish he or someone would clear the air because I don't want him to loose any fan support over this. I personally don't care if he comes out or not, I think he has shown what a good person he is, and how grateful he is to his fans, and goes out of his way to show us his gratitude. wink.gif

I won't be able to make it to a show on the tour but I do follow these threads because the excitement is contagious, even from afar ha ha!

You raise a lot of good points regarding some previously speculative behavior on behalf of some, but it may be as simple as he has studio time at night after the show (in some cases), or at other times has to catch a red eye flight back to west coast.

It is probably a variety of all these reasons combined but since he does make an effort to come before the show, the best fans can do is make sure other fans know so they're prepared (or not disappointed).

I'm curious, however, ---- how did it work with previous tours? I don't know AI before David (grin). Going back through all the previous 6 tours, did it reach a point where some Idols only came out before or after or stopped coming out at all?

I seem to consistently read that Chikezie never comes out after the show, either. I like the guy in general but his popularity is lower overall so there doesn't seem to be the same outcry for his absence as David.

Anyone know about how this tour compares to others?

Chikezie came out (along with all the other idols except for DC, think he flew back to LA) after the Detroit show... he gave me a second hug (got a hug before the show too because I gave him a gift bag, he was very thankful)

They were all great... as to the idols in other seasons I don't know sorry. sad.gif

Chikeze is my second favorite idol. I had a card and small gift for him that I've been dragging around to all of the shows I've been to. It was posted on his folder at Idol Forums that Jeff Archuleta told fans that Chikeze had some complications after a surgery and hasn't been feeling well. I asked David yesterday if he would be coming out or not. His response was that Chikeze still wasn't feeling well so he didn't think he would be out. David was nice enough to bring my card/gift to him for me.

ok here goes..

i took a lot more too.of everybody, but they're not really clear. sorry...i tried

gosh they all kinda look connected. i'm new at this posting thing so my bad :-)

Oh ok. So maybe it's been since Detroit that I was reading he didn't come out at night but I could just have bad memory, lol!

That's a shame about his surgery. I wonder when he managed to fit in surgery with the tour and all. I do recall one show where he didn't come out for PDSTM because Ramiele starts the song and does both his and her parts. But I don't remember which city. I want to say east coast for sure, not that long ago.

Yesterday was absolutely amazing!!
I got to meet David and got my hug from him. I wish he would've been able to take pictures with people but it's all good. Wow, he's so much hotter in person, i think a lot of people here can agree to that. I gave him a gift and he called me darrrling. pahaha!!
I'm so glad they did the baracade thing so the idols wouldnt be behind a fence!
I also got to meet Archuleta, Jason, Kristy, Brooke, Syesha, and Michael. They're all such nice people!
Michael was such a sweetie, and he's really good looking in person too!! Ahaha, anyone catch Brooke explaining the prank he did on her? I got a video of it! :] He was hilarious. & he ASKED to hug ME!!
Yeee!!
& the concert was fantastic. I snuck up to the front with the other two people I went to, and found seats that no one claimed so we sat there for the entire concert. I was so close to cookie, i could touch him! Aha!

I would like to repeat what has been said here time and time again -- that David Cook does not owe anyone anything. I would hate to think that a lot of fans are jumping ship based on something as silly as him not being able to do M & G afterwards for a variety of reasons. It is my hope that this kind of petty, classless behavior is not more widespread than the one person on this board who keeps harping on it.

He is a human being and he does not owe us anything.

I am very wary of someone claiming to have inside info who insists on coming and bashing Cook for not coming out after the show and claims that she and she alone knows the "real reason" he's not coming out. I'm going to blatantly honest and state that not everyone is who they say they are and just because someone claims to have inside info doesn't mean that they do. I'm pretty wary of believing every fan encounter unless there is video or photographic evidence of what went on.

This is a fan board. I'm not afraid to call out the haters.

Like I said, I hope this is not widespread and that Cook's fanbase is by and large the appreciative lot I know them to be.

Ok so I must be totally out of it... what is going on? What did he have surgery on? That makes me so sad...

Here is the pic of him giving me the hug, look at his sweet face.

Here here, li'lsparrow! Well said. And you know what, I dont' think a lot of fans are jumping ship... I think it's pretty much 'fanforlife' and a few others (very few) who seem to be bothered.

And fanforlife, I don't even think you are jumping ship. I cannot make that kind of a statement, and you've said repeatedly that you are a fan and I believe you. And yes, you are free to express your feelings... but when you evoke feelings in all of us, we will do the same. Personally, I cannot imagine going to a fan forum such as this and attacking the person whom the website honors.

First of all.....some of you need to get your facts straight.

"...I will be at the after party so I'm not that worried, unless Cook decides to take off in his limo again, then I may have to have a word with him.....via email of course. Keep fingers crossed. I've been doing a lot of talking with him about Philly.....I certaintly hope he challenges himself on 8/13. hint, hint,.....backbend... "

Ok this says you've been doing a lot of talking WITH him. Emailing him is not talking WITH him. Funny I saw no backbend in philly.....

Also, if I had afterparty passes, I wouldn't have been outside waiting. I'm sure that holds true for any normal person.

MCCOOK
Here is just one from the meet and greet, i have tons more on my friends camera.
Look for them later.
I got to the center around 3:30 and headed backstage with my Father in Law. It was pretty cool to see how intense the set up and all is for the shows(especially for one night). Tons of cases, their wardrobe, etc. They had their food all wrapped up, mostly salads. MJ, Carly and Chickeze were just hanging out in the hallway talking to production. I was a little disappointed with the meet and greet b/c I expected something different (but I am not complaining)! HA.
This was crazy, you had to keep walking by them. You couldn't take pics with them. I said to David "Hey, you guys coming out after the show?" He replied "some of us will, it depends on our schedule" . Duh wish I would have said something else. But there was really no time to converse and I was happy to just see him. The other idols were smiling and seemed friendly. Carly seems like such a doll. David A seemed really shy. Chickeze was like "Helllo ladies". So that was the extent of it. I do have some great shots though so look for them later. Don't know what it is about this Cook guy that got me hooked! I love the good guy, nerd, turned rock star image! It's all in good fun, my husband don't mind! HA

Fanforlife is full of s**t. I'm not sure why I'm even engaging at this point. I'm done. On to bigger and better... and more positive. Like we're approaching $18,000 in our cancer fundraiser!!!! Now THAT'S worth talking about! So is the fact that TOML is at #3 (#1 is in sight!) on Billboard's Hot AC today, and at #17 on itunes! WooHoo!

MCCOOK - thanks for sharing - I think this is the first time I am seeing the set up for the M&G. The after party is less formal from what I hear - more standing around like a cocktail party would be.

Glad that you got to meet David and the other Idols - Regarding Cook - probably everything good that you got hooked on is the same as why the rest of us love him. Glad that your husband doesn't mind .

Wow, Wow, Wow. I had the best time. My daughter (16) and I snuck over to seats that were RIGHT next to the right side of the stage. (their right, my left). Best seat in the house by far. We made friends with a security guard and begged him to let us back stage, he said he couldn't but he'de do what he could do. 5 minutes later, (Carly was on), David peeked out behind the black curtain on the side of the stage and waved real quick and went back in. Right after the show, he came back out, and shook all our hands and talked for a few seconds....Told us over and over how much he appreciates us coming out to see him and how he loves all his fans, and thanked us several times for coming. I was SPEECHLESS!!! He loves his fans...security must not let him out after the shows, because the crowd goes wild for him. I have some great pics, one being right under him, when he stood up on the metal bars during Hero. And another shaking my daughters hand, and some good close up singing. I'll try to get them for you all later.

Allison, if you are here, I'm the crazy one you met last night & sat with next to the stage. We were going to smoke a cigarette, even though we don't smoke, after our *moment* laugh.gif

OH MY GOD-I just got home and saw this post! I am wanting MORE MORE MORE! Those 4 seats just under the catwalk were by FAR the best I've had in 5 shows! My daughter has yet to put the My Hero video on the computer, but I CANNOT WAIT to see it! I had an unbelievable time with you and your daughter, she was a sweetheart and please tell her I wish I could share the pink tie with her! And David coming out and squeezing my hand and thanking us over and over was something I will never forget-AND NO GUYLINER!! I hope he heard me say how much I loved him without it! I tried to find that security guy afterwards to thank him, but will probably write a note to the head of security about him, since he make an unbelievable night just insane for us!
Just goes to show what 2 crazy moms will do for Mr. Cook!! You have to just do it!!! cool.gif biggrin.gif tongue.gif smile.gif wink.gif
