Just wondering if anybody's gonna be there! I'm going and I'm super excited. smile.gif It's gonna be amazing.
xxilydcxx
what state is this in ?
Teralynne93
Oops, sorry, it's in Bonner Springs, KS.
StephinMO
I've had my tickets for about a month and I can hardly wait!! Yet, I'm a bit sad....I think this may be the last stop close enough to hit this year, so it may be the last time I see him for a while. I hate it when I run out of things to look forward to! blink.gif
glena56
I'll be there!!!!!!!! Do you have any idea how long it will last? And if David will be performing last?
glena56
Not that anyone cares about the other bands performing for RW&B, but I went to the Sandstone site and We the Kings have pulled out and Love Sick Radio has taken their place.
Teralynne93
Yep I heard that too.

Concert officially starts at 3, David is on at 8, and yes, he will be closing the show.

Do you guys all have general admission tickets?
Karen.

I have seats...in a day long concert like this if I need to leave my spot for some reason, I prefer not to fight the crowd in and out of my spot smile.gif

I do have an extra if anyone needs one smile.gif
StephinMO
I've got GA seats for sure! Gotta be as close as possible. tongue.gif
Teralynne93
Yeah I'm gonna be attempting to get near the front as well, though I have 3 other people with me so this will prove very challenging. But I'm also trying to figure out some way to get to Wichita the next day for his concert at the Cotillion, so if I don't get close at RW&B, at least I might get to see him again... it makes me feel a little bit like a groupie, wanting to see him two days in a row, but who knows how long it's gonna be before he tours again. He's gonna be wiped out by the end of the year.

I know how you feel about the groupie bit! lol My friends started calling me "stalker" after I saw him in KC on April 22nd then again in Rolla on the 27th.....oh well, I loved it and that's what matters! tongue.gif If I could get away with going to Wichita, I'd do it in a heartbeat, but that might be pushing it....it IS Father's Day you know......

I'll only have one other person with me and she went to the other KC show with me - she knows the drill! laugh.gif

Yeah, that's why I want my dad to come with me. I was actually planning on trying to get him to come with me to that show before I even knew it was Father's Day, but now it can be like my gift to him (while still being a gift to myself haha) But he really loves DC. I got him hooked. tongue.gif He liked him during Idol and stuff, but then I took him to his KC show in April and he LOVED IT!! It was so cool to see him go on and on (and sound JUST like me) about how great DC is and what an amazing performer he is, and what an incredible show it was.

So, finger's crossed I get to go to Wichita... I'm asking him if he wants to go as soon as he gets home from work. So I should know by tonight. smile.gif

Well unfortunately I'm the only one in my group of people who is crazy over DC. My sister really loves him too, but it's not the same, she doesn't get obsessive about things, she just loves his music and thinks he's a cool guy. And then my two friends, one of them is selective about his music (I don't understand how you can like only SELECT DC... it's incomprehensible to me... lol) and the other one has really never heard any of him. She didn't watch Idol, but she knows that I love him. So... we'll see.

Of the other groups coming to Red White and Boom, who are you guys excited for? I'm psyched for Blue October, and SafetySuit. And I'm gonna enjoy some others. Though I've heard Ashley Tisdale is hosting... can we say random?

I'm actually looking forward to the Veronicas, more out of curiousity than anything! And yeah, RANDOM is right......why Ashley Tisdale???

Thanks for that info, I'm supposed to cellcast David's performance. but was having trouble with the time.

And yes, I have GA tickets.
Teralynne93
You're welcome. That's the last line-up I heard. If his time changes I'll let you know.
StephinMO
4 more days!! I can't stand it!!! And seeing the Larry King interview just makes it that much harder to wait! ACK!

ME NEITHER! I'm seriously ready to pee my pants from excitement! My best friend & I are going together, and I think I'm already making her crazy with my constant chatter. We were watching TV the other day, and at every commercial I would be like "AHH DAVID ON SATURDAY!". She's going to kill me. And to make it worse, she has been excited for We the Kings [who was also supposed to be there] literally since THE DAY they released the line up & now they aren't going. She's insanely disappointed & I'm insanely excited...not a good combo.
Teralynne93
That's a bummer for her... It will still be an amazing concert!! Even if every single act sucks, DAVID WILL BE THERE!! And everyone won't suck... it's gonna be great... SO EXCITED!!!

I want to take my camera but I'm not sure if I will... worried about dropping/losing it... and the thing is already a piece of crap, but I need it... anyone bringing cameras?

I just hope it stops raining. Thunderstorms like CRAAAAAZY. Even if it rains every single day this week, I just want Saturday to be sunny... please God? Haha. Then we'll only have the mud to contend with.
cookieismybaby
I'm definitely bringing my camera. I'm just going to have to try really hard to keep track of it. You're right, everyone is going to be good! I hope the temperature comes down just a bit though. Last year it was really hot, and the way this week is looking, Saturday will be warm. As of now, the forecast is 83 & sunny. Not too bad! It could be worse.
StephinMO
I can handle 83 degrees and sunny after all this stinking rain we've been getting.....Will it be muddy? I've been to Sandstone, but I had a seat and it was concrete under me (if I remember correctly). I'll need to wear appropriate shoes if so....wouldn't want to lose a flip flop in the mud! lol

And I'm definitely bringing my camera....gotta capture it all.....
Teralynne93
Well most of the seating is the lawn.. so mud is probably extremely likely... I hate mud, but hey, it's worth it. Just hoping I can crowd up in front of the stage... where everyone will attempt to be...

Well, 83, that's not too bad! Could be worse... we've had a pretty mild summer as far as heat goes.
StephinMO
Is the area by the stage concrete?
glena56
Well, I just checked weather.com and now it's up to 89 degrees for Saturday for Bonner Springs. Holy crap.

I don't think there will be any lining up at 5AM for this. According to the website the parking lot opens 2 hours before the show and the gates open 1 hour before the show. But it also says to check the web site a day or 2 before the event for exact times. It also has some rules about what you can and cannot take in and such.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like it's going to be a hot one...don't forget your sunscreen - we don't want to be lobsters by the time David comes out! lol
Teralynne93
So parking lot opens at 1 PM?
Teralynne93
I just found out that the first band playing (Kick Kick) that won the Best Local Band contest to open at RW&B, my mom knows their drummer. His name is Joe. LOL.
cookieismybaby
I think 83 sounds good. That storm last night was intense. It's a definite possibility for mud if you sit in GA up on the lawn. In front of the lawn are the "reserved seats" which I believe have concrete, then in front of the reserved section is another GA, which I think also has concrete.

Thanks, that makes one more reason (as if I needed one) to try to get as close up front as possible. I haven't been to a show there since they took the seats out of the front....any idea how much room we'll have? I'm wondering if I'll have to stand up there all day long to be close when DC comes out......
Teralynne93
I'm guessing we'll probably all want to crowd up there all day... not only because of the mud back on the lawn, but because once DC is on it's probably going to be verrrry hard to get up there. Of course, it's probably going to be hard anyway... there's going to be like 20,000 people there. But I am determined to be in the front.

Haha and just a few thousand others... but we will succeed! Even if I have to abandon my group. Aw, that would be sad though... But it is David... lol...
glena56
I'm thinkin that possibly except for the hardcore DC fans, that people will be milling around all day. There will, I assume be breaks between each group while equipment is taken down and reset. And people will be going to the bathroom, getting things to eat etc. And since you supposedly cannot take a blanket to the front GA section, it's gonna be hard to save....space....ya know? Depending on how well I handle the heat, I'd like to eventually get down to the front GA area. Maybe about...5 or 6 PM... I don't know, I'll just play it by ear I guess. PLUS, we have to remember that (believe it or not) there will be people there to see these other bands, so they will be moving around during the day. I don't really see myself getting down there right away. I don't want my friend and my Brother to suffer any longer than they have to, so we probably won't even get to parking until around 1. I'm thinkin as of now the parking lot opens at noon?
cookieismybaby
I'll probably get down to the front for the band before david. There will be lots of people there to see other bands, so it probably won't be as bad as you think. It will be crowded though. I don't want to make my friend go down there until the last minute possible. The time on the ticket says 2 PM, so that either means a. the gates open at 2, or b. the show starts at 2, so the gates open at 1. Not sure about the parking lot though. I would guess that the parking lot opens 1 hour before the gates do. That makes the most sense.
Teralynne93
Gates open at 2 PM, show starts at 3 PM, and the parking lot opens at 1 AM. On the website it says that the lot opens an hour before the gates do, so 1 PM.

Thank you! I'm terrible with math in the summer. Once school's out, my brain totally shuts off.

Haha I hear you. It's the same with me, at least with math. And I didn't take a math class last year so pretty much my math brain has been off for... a long time...
cookieismybaby
Haha yeah, it's semi-embarassing. I was shopping with my mom and the shoes I wanted were 30% off....had to have her do the math. 2 MORE DAYS TILL DAVID! 3 if you count Saturday. biggrin.gif
greeneyeskc
Just an FYI--If you have VIP seats you can enter the venue/VIP Club at 1:00 which is also when the parking lots open. Otherwise the gates open at 2:00 and bands start performing at 2:15. You also get to park in the VIP parking right by the club so you won't have to hike so far. I think with the forecast of 90 degrees people wont be camping out on the lawn all day. I'm praying that the VIP club is airconditioned!!! Can't stand the fact that they reconfigured that venue so that the lawn seats are in front now. I've never been farther away than 3rd row at Red White and Boom and now I'm going to have to fight my way to the front. Thank goodness for Wichita, Tulsa and OKC.
StephinMO
I did get the VIP pass, so that'll help. Thanks for the details...at this point, I'm just flying by the seat of my pants. rolleyes.gif

Say hello if y'all see me.....I'm 5'11" and blonde - kinda hard to miss! lol

Thanks for the link. David not performing till 9:45?? Wha? I'll be dead by then!!! Completely vaporized by the sun!!
Oh, hell, I'm totally re-doing my plans now. What to do, what to do..................
greeneyeskc
Lets hope that VIP club is air conditioned! Say hi if you see me too. I'm 5'3 with tons of red hair. Polar opposite of you STEPHINMO but equally hard to miss. Ha Ha!
glena56
Holy crap, now Bonner Springs weather is predicting afternoon thunderstorms for Saturday.

I'll say hello if I see you.....sounds like we may be a bit soggy too......I sure hope not!!!!!
Teralynne93
We're all gonna have to fight to get to the front... hope I don't elbow any of you DC fans... but if I do... you understand... haha.

I'm 5'4" with long curly blonde hair... that will most likely be in a ponytail cause I'll be so hot... and I think I'll be wearing my green KC Royals hat, so, say 'Hi Teresa' if you see me!

Hoping for no thunderstorms...

Anyone find it weird that in the FAQ at the bottom of that schedule, it's like, you can drop your kids off at 9 AM, but the parking lot doesn't open till 1 PM.... where are the kids supposed to be in that time frame?

Anyway, what time are you guys planning on getting there?
StephinMO
I did find that comment about dropping kids off odd too. I guess for parents dropping pre-teens off to spend all day not at the mall? lol

My hair will be up as well. My goal is to get up frontish....I don't want to fight and argue with folks to make it happen though. Maybe we'll get lucky and we'll catch him and the guys wandering around checking out the other acts.

I think we're planning on getting there around 1 when the parking lot opens. That is, if all goes well in the morning and with the trip to KC from Columbia.

Maybe we'll see you there!
glena56
Well, with the venue holding what...18,000 don't know how easy it will be to find fellow Dasher's but I am a skinny old broad, and I will be wearing a t shirt the says, "Rockin Grandma" with a big 13 on the front of it. Yep. That's me.
dc-vision
Have a GREAT time Glena and all!!! biggrin.gif
dabri99
they probably tell you can drop off them at 9 am to elivate traffic problems of them getting entangled with all the cars waiting to get in the parking lots. The thing I don't like and I had to this last year was go out there to the drop off and wait there with a radio that died before all the kiddies parents picked them up. Last group of girls didn't get picked up till about 11:15pm. I do not understand how parents can drop off their young kids for a whole day their without any supervision, things can happen regardless of how secure it can seem.

Anyway I hope you all have a good time. I hope I have good time doing whatever job they are going to be having me do whether it be ticket taking bag checking or checking tickets for the reserve seating area. Most likely if the supervisor I think is going to be supervising the VIP entrance on the backside of the venue I'll probably end up their taking tickets or bag checking. Bad thing about that is can't hear the concert because that VIP area is constantly blasting music from a DJ.

It would be so bad *** if he did a cover of Paradise City by Guns N Roses, but I doubt he will but it'd be awesome. I just caught that video of him doing Shattered Dreams which I use to love when I was kid. Gotta love the 80's songs.
glena56
Why in the world do they have a DJ back there? I hope you get to work somewhere that you can hear!
