I'm in. I have never been to an Ai concert before. By the way I'm 38, married with a 12 year old daughter who is also a DC fan. She had asked me if I would take her to the concert and I'll admit I was embarrased to go since I'm "older". But after starting my "older DC fans" thread I now know I'm not the only one and I can't wait for the concert.

So I've got to ask how you managed to meet them last year?
Aurigae
I'll be there (assuming I can take off work (or call in "sick"!)/get tickets/find the Rose Arena--never been there)!! With the exception of DC, I'm not a fan of most of the idols (MJ and Carly were OK), but I wish I could go to an Axium concert, or better yet, "DC Solo Tour". The Ultimate dream: an 'Analog Heart' tour.--I'd trade a pinky finger, left toe and wisdom tooth to get to go to that! I was one of the lucky ones who downloaded it from Amazon *just* before (within hours )of them pulling it!

HELP! I'm trying to figure out this whole "presale" thing, but it looks like the tix are only available from brokers in the $100-$200 range. What is up with that? Ticketmaster says they don't have anything. Can anyone help in the Portland area? I would also like to meet up with other DC fans to go--I am 37, and if I actually get to go (no way on $200 tix) i will be bringing my 11 year old niece. Would love to figure out how to meet them! I thought they were staying at my bfs hotel, but he hasn't seen them booked. Anyone?

ps--also, word on this being my first Idol tour (and probably last). I'm only going for Cookie. I like MJ and Carly as well, but not enough to pay a bunch of money to see them sing two songs each or whatever.

Yeah, same here! My first (and last) Idol Tour (but I WOULD see any DC tours anywhere anyplace and anytime!).

*****UPDATED INFO IS YOU READ THIS BEFORE 9pm on 5/14 (Thank you luckybabe43!)******

Luckybabe42 messaged to me:
The Poptarts presale is actually working for us... you just go to rosequarter.com and when you get to the presale page, enter "POPTARTS" for the code and you can buy tickets. Last year I bought tickets during the presale (fyi--search a few times before you buy because you sometimes can get better seats that way...

I wrote BEFORE 9pm 5/14:
I had the same problem with the Poptarts pre-order, so I did a little research and found out ticketmaster does not handle Rose Quarter tickets. So here's your options: for the best choice of seats, get them starting at 10am on 5/17 when they go on sale at the ROSE QUARTER BOX OFFICE.

Specific sections, rows and seats can be purchased ONLY in person at the Rose Quarter Box Office or by phone at 877-789-ROSE (7673).

You CAN also get them from one of the Ticket Outlet Locations (list is on rosequarter.com, a couple inside Safeways), but you won't be able to choose your seat. "Tickets purchased online and at TicketsWest outlets are sold as best available seating in the selected price range."

OR:

The "older DC thread" was hilarious! I had tears streaming down my face!

Hi guys! I've been super busy lately, so I haven't been around much, but if anyone has any questions about how the Rose Quarter tickets work, I can try my best to help. smile.gif

Also, hookedoncook, to answer your question... I met the Idols last season by waiting by the tour busses for about 5 hours prior to the show. (Crazy, right? laugh.gif) I met a friend down there at about 10 am and waited until the Idols came out (we were there mainly for Blake and C-Rich) and then we went and got some lunch and hung out until the actual show started. We're planning to do it again this year, so if anyone wants to meet up just let me know and maybe we can arrange something... biggrin.gif

I GOT MY TICKETS! Section 112 Row O seats 12 & 13. Notmylover, I didn't see any tickets today for $100 or more. They were from 39-68 depending on where you want to sit. They will be on pre-sale today until 10pm. Also I'm 38 and going with my 12 year old daughter.

If anyone knows what hotel they are staying at please let me know. We live in Redmond so we will need a hotel room for friday night. I would love to be able to book a room at the same hotel as the idols. It might increase the odds of getting to meet them.

Thanks for the info luckybabe54. We might give that a try.
hookedoncook
I got better seats today. I got floor seats row 25. I wish we were closer because in row 25 we won't be able to see their faces but I'm hoping we might be able to walk up closer to the stage. Does anyone know from past years if you can get closer to the stage during the concert? Anyway if anyone needs tickets I've got 2 seats in section 112 row O that I'm selling for what I paid for them $68.50 each.
notmylover
I still haven't got tix--waiting for some money to arrive. I will try to get the best available--section 2 is about the best there is at this point, but I might check around craigslist. If I can't see Cookie, what's the point of even going? smile.gif. As far as hotels, they have stayed at the Heathman in the past, but my BF still has not seen a booking there. My guess is that either a) they are driving straight to Tacoma after the show and staying there or cool.gif they are staying at the Hilton. If he finds out they are indeed staying at the Heathman, I will for sure let you guys know. I might be able to get him to do some sniffing around since he knows all the other hotel people in town as well. Hooked on Cook, we should totally hook up! We can take turns watching the girls while one of us stalks Cookie! smile.gif
notmylover
So--I finally got my tix--they are not great, but not terrible--first level at least. I'm in section 116 N seats 4 and 5. Come find me fellow cookies!
luckybabe54
Finally--some time to stop in here and update! smile.gif

I got some seats in the presale--Section 102, row A, seats 3-4--but I'm holding out for the auction, assuming they have one again this year. If not, I'm hoping that some better seats will be released closer to the show like last year. But, if not, these seats will do. smile.gif

I'm totally up for coordinating some sort of meet-up with everyone! I'm not totally sure what my plans are yet, but I know that my friend and I will definitely be there early to wait by the busses in hopes of meeting them like last year. If anyone else would like to join, let me know and we can set something up!

I'm so excited!! biggrin.gif

I'll be there! I managed to get floor seats at the presale, and I'm so excited! Hubby's coming along, so I hope he doesn't feel slighted when I'm screaming like a little girl at David. =)
strwbrywn20
My best friend and I just purchased tickets to go!!! We are sooo excited! This is our first concert we have ever gone to! Our seats are section 110 row L seats 3 & 4...Don't' know how good of seats they are, but we will be happy just to be in the same room as David!!

We are in. I talked with my daughter and she is totally up for waiting by the buses for them. She's 12 so I wasn't sure if she would be in to standing there for hours. I was afraid I would here "mom I'm bored, let's go" a million times. But when I asked her she siad "what are you crazy I'd stand there all day to meet DC" I have never been to the Rose Garden, I think I mentioned we are driving up from Bend but I would imagine you just park and walk around til you see buses? Any idea where to find them at the arena?

Also one of the threads talks about meeting them before the show and asking them for backstage passes. Did you try that last year? I would love to get a couple back stage passes.

Thanks for the hotel info. I think we will try booking at the Hilton. But if you find anything out please let me know and I'll change our reservation. I would bet your friend is right though. Since Tacoma is less than 3 hours away I bet they sleep on the bus friday night and travel to Tacoma. But maybe they will arrive in Portland early since they have the 10th off. They play the 9th in Sacramento I think then have the 10th off and then the 11 in Portland. I don't know what happens when they have a day off, does anyone else? I never cared about AI until DC. I know I will never care again either. But I'll always be a DC fan for life now!

Hey everyone,

I was thinking that since there is just a few of us from this site going to the concert that we need to come up with some sort of a group plan for meeting DC. I'm thinking maybe since there is a group of us it will increase our odds of meeting him. What do you all think? I have Friday off and even though we have to drive up there we should still be there by 10am or so. I won't even be able to sleep the night before. Heck we just might drive up thursday night after work and spend thursday and friday night up there. All I know is I wish it was July already!

First off welcome strwbrywn20, I noticed that this was your first post! Second I'm so glad you get to go to the concert. You picked a great first concert. My first concert was in 1982, yeap the year David was born! I saw Journey in Seattle. I was 12! Boy do I feel old now!

We're on the floor too! Row 25, what about you?
john_socal
I've never gone to AI Tour but noticed they were playing in Portland while I'm on vacation in the Gorge. Wanted to see David live so bad. By some act of God, I got online the minute they went on sale and got 19th row on the floor! So excited!

How many songs does the winner sing if anyone knows? David mentioned on Larry King he's singing the coronation song but I hope he does more than just that!

How early do you have to get there to meet them?

See ya there.

Looks like our "little group" is expanding! Maybe we can all get the same T-shirts? I have floor row 17, but I'm trying to get closer....
notmylover
Let's keep each other updated on tour stuff, meet-up plans, etc. I am bringing my neice, but I could meet up with those of you waiting for the buses and have her parents drop her off just before the show. Or something! I just know I must see this man up close and personal--and I am stoked to meet other (esp. older) Cook fans. No one in my life understands my obsession. Like at all.
I'm sad I couldn't get tickets sooner and I'm not on the floor sad.gif I'm totally into hotel stalking him after the show as well! I used to be a master at that and I have met many rockstars that way in my youth (Michael Hutchence, Sting, loads of others) and there is usually hardly anyone else there. I was the world's worst groupie--cause I would stalk, sometimes even get in rooms, (Depeche Mode took me to a bar) and then not put out! They were like, uh...well...what did you want then? hahahah.
If they have the day off before the show, I wonder if they will be hanging out in PDX that day???? We have to be stealth and relentless in our pursuit!
Jeannie
First time poster here who is also going to the Portland show... even though I live in Ohio! I wonder if anyone else there will have traveled that far?

My best friend lives on the Oregon Coast. She got two 19th row floor tickets, then emailed me to come join her. So thanks to Cookie, I'm getting to go on a 12 day vacation that ends with seeing the show. I haven't seen her in two years, so I'm doubly excited!

LOL @ you 30 somethings saying you are old... I've got three sons and the oldest is the same age as DC. So the two "geriatrics" you see in row 19 screaming like 15 year olds will be my friend and I. laugh.gif

ha!. I'll be the geriatric GUY screaming in the 19th row!

PS. David said on Larry King he'd be singing 5 songs on the tour!

I might be going this year, but it's all up in the air currently, since I will be moving this summer. :0

The last AI Tour I went to was the Season Two Tour roughly five years ago, in Portland. My vocal cords were dead for a day or two afterwards. xD

Oh my gosh! I'm so excited I found this thread!

So, for all of you ladies worrying that you are too old, don't worry! My mom (56 years old) got me hooked on DC. She loves him. She is freaked out about going, but loves him so much, she doesn't care! I'm obsessed too. We talk about him daily! My brother, dad, and husband call our behavior disturbing and unnatural. Ha! what do they know?

Well, we ordered the presale tickets and the best available was section 121, and another word nerd gave me the excellent idea of trying to buy closer ones during the general sale. We did, and we now have row 19 on the floor. I have no idea what that means. Can anyone tell me? Is it worth sitting on the floor, or should we use the other tickets? Thank you so much!

We are also trying to figure out how to meet them, or should I say, him. We are totally willing to wait by the buses. My mom insists she wouldn't survive a DC encounter and would truly faint from heart palpations. I have to agree with her.

Thank you guys so much for the information. I am so excited about this concert!!!! If you know anything about the floor ticket issues, I would really appreciate your help!

Thanks!
