im going on different poll sites for ur favorite AI, and sadly, im seeing more of Jason than DC or DA, and really, im starting to get legitimately scared.....
i know for a fact that DC deserves to be in the finale, no doubt. but if ppl are actually following these polls, then DC might not even make it pass the top 3 :[
PLZ dont be offended Jason fans, but honestly, it might even come down to Jason/DC in the finale (which i highly doubt, considering DA MASSIVE teeny-bopper crowd....)
i guess were down to the same answer...vote! b/c honestly, if DC doesnt even make it to the finale, then i dont know what AI is based on anymore...

I bet you some of those fans are power voting on that poll even though we know he does have a fanbase.
Someone on the AI boards has suggested a voting strategy for Tuesday that we might could use.

ok we have to make every single vote count,so if you are not texting here is the best formula to get the most votes in. Ok vote on 2 phones whatever phones you got because on cells you kick to free minutes at 9. If you are voting on landline, use that line to dial line #1, because it is busy a lot and landlines are slower in redial. Vote line 2 on your cell because you can log a vote every 4 seconds on a cell and it redials much quicker and line 2 is generally open. DO NOT PUT BOTH PHONES TOWARDS ONE LINE we want to even out both of his lines. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE WHOLE MESSSAGE hang up after "thanks" Please pledge to do this,or make any alterations that you see fit and PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO TEXT IF YOU CAN BECAUSE WE ARE GETTING KILLED IN TEXTS !! Also if oyu have 2 cells and can hook up to the site that dials for you, do that and then vote with the 2 cell phones!!!
Please see the number of the damage we can do below.
ok this is all based on the timer on my cell phone, now if we all double this by voting on 2 phones we can do some real damage and THIS DOES NOT COUNT TEXTING WHICH IS CRUCIAL AS WELL
OK it takes 4 SECONDS TO LOG A VOTE, IF YOU JUST WAIT TO HEAR "THANK"
SO 60 SECONDS IN A MINUTE 4 DIVIDED BY 60 = 15 VOTES PER MINUTE
NOW THERE ARE 60 MINUTES IN AN HOUR 15 TIMES 60=900 VOTES PER HOUR
NOW MULTIPLY THIS BY 2 900 TIMES 2=1800 VOTES IN 2 HOURS
NOW USE 2 PHONES 1800 TIMES 2=3600 VOTES FOR ONE PERSON
OK NOW THERE ARE AROUND 1300 WORD NERDS ON THIS BOARD ALONE 1300 TIME 3600=THAT TOTALS
4,680,000 VOTES
http://www.americanidol.com/myidol/forums/topic/?tid=937848Of course, those #'s were based on members of the AI forums, but if the math is indeed correct, we really could do some voting damage on Tuesday.

People have been saying that about Jason for a while now. i try not to worry about it. I mean, honestly the Word Nerds are doing a great job with voting, and we just need to keep at it. When it comes down to it...all we can do is vote as much as we possibly can. I've been using
Gizmo (i just dl-ed a newer version which is supposed to log in 20 votes per call...not sure how it works, but a few of my friends have been using it with no problem), as well as calling from my home phone. think positive people.

Our boy

for my home phone, im registered with AT & t as my phone company, so everytime i call through to DC, i get through no prob, no busy signal, thus giving me over 300+ votes in 40 min... im not sure if this works with other AT & T phones, but it worked for mine

What is so funny about i-tunes is that Idol is trying to keep that a closely guarded secret but if you have the link to the i-Tunes feed (which I do), you can look and see where all of them rank if their songs are high enough to show up there. Jason is talented, but unless he were to get into the top 2, I can almost guarantee you that he will not be signed by them. There was no way in the world they were planning to issue him an apology for what happened in regards to Paula's blunder. The statement on the results show made that abundantly clear. They want him gone!

I don't think VFTW has enough voters to make an impact. Especially when there are a fewer number of contestants. And I don't think the online polls are representative of the voters -- people could have posted the polls on Castro sites and so they all spammed it. I am a little worried though. I used to split votes between Castro and David, but from now on, I am going to increase my voting and just focus on David and hopefully fans who remember what happened to Chris Daughty do the same.

Since having seen American Idol during an easter holiday in Florida I've become a David Cook fan. Could you tell me the number and the time I should vote? I just would love to help everyone getting David to the nex round...

First off, welcome to David Cook land... enjoy yourself..
Secondly, we won't know the numbers until the night of the show but we can definitely post it here for you so you can vote.. David Cook should be the winner and if American Idol is truly about talent then he will.
Okay, before you all get hell-bent on berating VFTW...
How many people watch American Idol? 30, maybe 40 million?
How many people are avid supporters of VFTW? 2, maybe 3 thousand at the most?
Now, I know not every AI watcher votes, but many vote multiple times. You know how Ryan's always saying that 32 million votes came in, etc.
Now, how many of those votes are from Worsters? Maybe about 5 thousand, tops. Not enough to lethally sway the voting system.
Besides, there are people out there that actually do prop up whoever VFTW is supporting, too, but for a different reason: they LIKE the contestant. I think that's the case with Jason, I think that was mainly the case with KLC and even Blake and Sanjaya from last season.
There. VFTW has been deemed practically useless.
Oh, by the way, I made those statistics up. I have no idea how many people truly support VFTW, but that's just my (somewhat) erudite guess. It only makes sense.
As for worrying about DC... er, try not to? Whatever is meant to happen will happen.
And that means that, even if DC gets ousted this week like Daughtry, we shouldn't sweat. We'll see more of him sooner rather than later.
And come on, let's admit it: We're only
really worried about David this week because of Chris. I'm going to add Tamyra Grey and LaToya London from seasons one and three, because they link the odd-numbered seasons and the fourth-place "curse," but still. If Chris had been voted off, say, third, we wouldn't be worrying this week, but rather
next week. Right?
That's not to say that DC's getting the boot this week. He probably won't - my money's on Jason.
I'm sure the producers see major moolah in a David vs. David finale. The ratings would go down if one of them went home, and the show would lose a fair amount of whatever veracity it still has left.
How silly would it be to have a Syesha vs. Archie finale? Or a Jason vs. Archie finale? Uhm... very. No offense to any Syesha or Jason fans.
This whole thing is really a pain in the patookus, is it not? Darn AI history.

Very good post, Rye. Your points about VFTW were spot-on.
I read the blogs and forums there quite a bit. And, honestly, I don't think the people there even vote that much. I was reading a thread there earlier where they were talking about calling in and voting, and even some of the "veteran" members of the site were saying that they usually just get in 50-100 votes a night. Some members were saying they don't vote at all. They're not as adament about voting as the actual fanbases are. I really don't think VFTW has that big of an impact on the results, and I think blaming them for the elimination of Michael, Carly, etc. is just silly. Let's not forget that they've also supported Danny, Amanda, Kristy, and Brooke so far this season.

I'm going to put my 2 cents in about those polls. A lot of people (some who are desperate and scared) hijack some of those polls with tons of votes to try to prove a point (especially the AI polls where you can vote an unlimited amount of times. I've seen polls on Rickey's site that got hijacked by fans of certain fanbases because #'s were ridiculously higher than they should have been. lol For all we know, some of the people voting on those polls may not even been voting on the phones. That might not be the case, but it's just a thought. I think I've sort of learned in the last few days to not take polls too seriously. It's not the polls that save a person from elimination, it's the votes that count. With that being said does it mean that I'm denying that the others don't have fanbases? No, I am not. I'm just not going to let that affect me one way or the other. All anyone can do is to do their best to vote on Tuesday.

[size="3"]May I add something here? I don't know if this will comfort you all or not, but I have quietly been considering the things the past winners have all had in common, and then mentioning them. Once I popped up with "They've all been single." Which is very true! That was to explain why Chris Daughtry may not have made it, and Michael Johns, for example. But it's not much help now with all the remaining ones being single.
So I had to get a little more analytical, and even go back and rewatch some of the past seasons before I felt brave enough to come forward with my next analysis:
The winner each year has been the one who wanted it the most.
You may disagree with me, but I swear, this is how it seems to me looking back. Week after week, month after month, the person who ultimately took the prize displayed clearly to me as I looked back with my 20/20 hindsight, a type of desire for the prize which that person maintained steadfastly through critiques good, bad, horrible or wonderful that was unique to each season's FINAL IDOL. Where that person may not have been the best in my opinion, I could not fault ever his or her enthusiasm, response to the judges, to the fans, to the band, to the other contestants, and to the whole experience. Each of these people went through a type of catharsis. To the point where I believe some were completely "done in" by it all and had to just collapse and go hide afterward. I think that was especially true for Taylor Hicks who was a smoky bar type of musician but put everything he had out there week after week, just because he really wasn't going to lose that opportunity. Then he just couldn't keep up the pace.
Now, please just humor me for the moment in my theory--if I am correct, then who out of these 4 WANTS it the most? That is no contest. It can only be DAVID COOK.
Little Archie-- motivated mostly by fear of his father
Jason-- has made it plain he doesn't really give a crap if he is there or not, "it's just alright with him", he's a mellow dude, not a hungry
one
Syesha-- she is the one most like the average Idol contestant which is "wooo, look at me, I'm an Idol finalist, I am going to be a success
now no matter what!" She is not "hot" for it.
Nope, only DAVID COOK has shown consistently how much he wants this, has heeded what the judges have said, has been a professional when it comes to his preparation for and presentation of his music, he wants his family and his fans and his hometown to be proud of him. He really can taste this victory.
Therefore, we must honor him and the great joy he has brought us, and will continue to bring us by doing everything in our power to bring him what he and we want-----

Hey, has anyone mentioned seeing the quotes from Jason to ET about not practicing last week b/c his bro. was there visiting. And if he wins he wins & if he loses he loses. He said the whole AI experience was over-whelming & the fans were a little weird. This was in response to the $450.00 dollars they spent on 150 baloons they had delivered to him when they heard he was down & didn't feel good. Sounds pretty COLD to me!( if it's true)

Well... I don't want to be negative and say that he won't win.
But
EVEN IF David Cook doesn't win... He's so incredibly talented that he will no doubt have a career after AI.
I am also highly confident that it will at least be him and somone else (Prolly David A.) as the top two. David C. is such an amazing musician.. There's no way anyone can deny it.
I'll vote no matter what the odds seem.

May 3 2008, 04:47 PM
)The polls vary so much it's best not to take them too literally. I panicked last week but despite dialidol showing Syesha as top, David C's telephone line was ridiculously busier than all of the others (2/3 times) which should mean he's getting a lot more votes by phone. For various reasons I suspect that is more reliable than is being made out. (Just my opinion). Line 2 was less busy than line 1.
Text votes are a bit of a worry as David A and Jason are rumoured to be getting more and everyone should try if they can / can afford it I guess, but those of us that can't must do what we can and what will be will be.
The voting system seems very flawed and a little unfair to me, and I would hate to think of David C's fans feeling it was their fault if he doesn't win. You can see people are trying hard and I'm sure he knows that.
He is going to get signed by someone, and probably by AI anyway, I would bet my house on it, so he will be fine after idol. Analog Heart was selling well and he produced that himself!
All that said,
VOTE VOTE VOTE !
He deserves to win (none of this "better off not winning" rubbish thankyou

As long as we keep voting long and hard I think David will be fine. Just remember this: Don't ever assume David is safe...that's how people get sent home, because their fans assume they're safe. Jason needs to go--he wants to, he has shown repeatedly he does not have any class (yawning on national tv, looking bored, and supposedly dissing the balloons his fans sent to him). Honestly, his voice isn't even that good. Future wedding singer, perhaps?? Buh-bye...
David A is a cutie, and he will have a good career ahead of him, but the kid is only 17 and doesn't have our David's experience in song-writing, recording, and arranging songs. C-ya in 2nd place, Archie....
Syesha--she will be great in Broadway musicals, but she simply will not win the competition. Have fun on the Broadway stage, girl....
SO-that leaves David as the COMPLETE PACKAGE for the competition!
I just honestly keep those positive thoughts in my head, and I refuse to allow any negative thoughts in....We all love David--his music/looks/personality/family situation/courage, and we will work TOGETHER to keep him going all the way to the end!! Yahoo!!!

On the issue of polls, I can't figure out why no one ever references the TV Guide poll. Last time I looked, for this week Cookie had 63% of the vote. SIXTY THREE PER CENT!!! That's the same as Kristi Yamaguchi has in the DWTS poll and she's like a professional compared to the rest of the crowd.
It's probably like any other poll and different fanbases vote different places but I honestly didn't know of even one poll that the Archie and Jason girls didn't know about.
My heart tells me that nobody can beat Cookie, but my head tells me anything is possible. I only vote one landline all night and I never, ever get busies (it's freaky how I never get busy signals. And scary!) and I hope that's enough. I would do more if I could but that's all I've got.

The producers will not let Jason win American Idol. I promise, lol. No matter how many votes he gets, he's out before David Squared.
Personally, I also think that we're going to get a Dx2 finale. No matter what.

Don't worry about that too much, they've put lots of extra lines on this year, and David C's was busier last week than most if not all of the others according to (admittedly unreliable) dial idol. They will probably be busy at the end though, which is why texting becomes all important.

I've RARELY gotten busy signals while voting for DC, even when there was only one number to call. And to tell you the truth, it made me extremely nervous at first, but now, I don't think it means anything since David's been on top of DialIdol for a couple of weeks now.
I'm not sure why I don't get busy signals-on my landline NOR my cell phone, and why others get a lot. It's strange. I haven't figured it out yet. Hmmm...

Of all the weeks I have been voting, this past Tuesday, I got more busy signals than any other time. After the first 5 minutes of voting kicked in, that's when things really got into gear with the busy signals. By the 2nd hour, I was able to get a lot more votes.

Same here. I was so frustrated during the first hour, so it's gonna be about not giving up and not voting.

I got frustrated the first hour, but that certainly didn't stop me and it won't stop me this coming Tuesday!

I was voting right until the line went officially busy at 11 that night.

Heh, weird... last Tuesday I go in almost every time during the first hour, but after 9:00 I got a TON of busy signals. It's strange how it's different for everyone.
