so I heard that the next theme for AI is gonna be ROCK!!!!! How absolutely amazing do you think DC is gonna be?? aw, I CAN'T WAIT!!!!! he's gonna be GREAT!!
i am kinda lookin forward to seein David Archuleta rock out...hmmm, havn't seen that side of him yet.
what do you guys predict??

May 3 2008, 07:43 PM
It's "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" theme, and I'm SO EXCITED. Except...most of them will probably butcher iconic songs (think Archuleta's "The Long and Winding Road"...my humble opinion). Not good. But I'm sosososososososo SO excited for David (Cook, of course), and I imagine he's crazy excited for this week too, since this is really his forte. Although, who knows...he just got the best feedback ever singing freaking Mariah Carey, so maybe everyone will hate his rock song, haha. Really, though, nah. He'll be incredible, I can't wait to hear what he sings!
I so wish Michael Johns was still on, IMO it should've been him and David in the final. Michael sang effing "Dream On" and "We Are the Champions"...and they were GOOD. I haven't listened to them all the way through, I'm watching the videos tonight, but I listened to clips...and I was like dude, he's good! I expected to be pissed hearing an Idoler sing those songs, especially "Dream On", and I totally wasn't.
David would be incredible singing "Dream On", actually. Or "We Are the Champions", but especially "Dream On".

I know we are all
so excited about this upcoming week, but I wonder if David is nervous because this is what he is known for--being the "
rock guy"--and it must be a lot of pressure for him to pull something out of his hat that will amaze everyone (well, not us because he can do no wrong in our eyes) and get that "brilliant" comment again from Simon... Frankly, I am a little nervous for him

So, is there going to be a celebrity mentor this week? I haven't heard mention of one. I kind of hope there isn't, because they annoy me. Haha.
I'm hoping for Hotel California and Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now. I think those were the two on the list I was most excited about hearing Cookie sing. I also think Jeremy, When Doves Cry, and House of the Rising Sun would be good choices.

OOh! I'll be really excited if it's "Rock and roll hall of fame" week and not just rock n' roll. I hope they show shots of the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame here in Cleveland (I'm using the term "here" loosely). I love that place. And I'm sooo sure he'll be bringing down the house this week. I would LOVE if he went out on a limb and re-arranged something that closely resembles what he did on Analog Heart. I can't wait for Tuesday!!!

I think Syesha will do great (don't know if it'll save her in the voting, though.) I haven't looked at the whole list, but I'm guessing Tina Turner, Aretha and Pat Benatar are on there somewhere. Is "Don't Worry, Be Happy" on there, because that's the only song I can picture Jason doing (

). Jason is too whispery to do anything upbeat, let alone hard rock. And Archie has to steer clear of anything with sex or alcohol in the lyrics, so that rules out 99 percent of rock songs (j/k.) Is Christopher Cross on the list (probably not), because I can see Archie doing something light and airy (and wimpy.) Oh, maybe he can show off his "rock" skills with "Rock Around the Clock".
As for DC, the sky is the limit! I agree, "House of the Rising Sun" would be beyond spectacular. The song may be 44 years old, but we know DC can make it sound like it was written today. "When Doves Cry" or "Hotel California" would also be killer. Just remember: we trust DC!
And be sure to VOTE, VOTE, VOTE come Tuesday night!

I would bet good money on that. I went through that list with all the contestants in mind, not just Cookie, and the second I saw that that song was on there I was like, "Well, there's Syesha's song choice." Nothing against Syesha, but she has been the most predictable contestant this season by far. Second place would probably go to Archie.
I'm really hoping they all pull out good performances this week. This whole season has been kind of a disappointment to me because most of the shows only had, like, two or three good performances and the rest were either OK or just bad. There really hasn't been a night yet when all the contestants gave stellar performances. I'd love to finally see that. Don't get me wrong, I would also thoroughly enjoy Cookie just mopping the floor with the other contestants. But I'd also like to be thoroughly entertained for the whole hour.
I really hope Jason gets out of this retarded rut he's been in lately, because I think some of the songs on this list could really suit him and he could potentially have some great performances. I'm hoping he brings the awesome back on Tuesday and does "Take It Easy", because I think that could be fantastic.

For sure. I would seriously doubt the taste and hearing ability of anyone who didn't love that song.
Have you ever read/heard of a book called The Perks Of Being A Wallflower? That book is actually what introduced me to that song and, thus, made me a Smiths fan. One of the characters in the book makes a mixtape for the main character and Asleep is the first song on it. The kid kind of falls in love with the song and it's sort of a recurring motif throughout the book. Being the dork that I am, I went online after reading the book, downloaded all the songs and re-created that mixtape (the entire tracklist is listed in the book.) And like Charlie, I fell in love with Asleep and I've been a Smiths fan ever since.
...wow. I sure do have a talent of going off on really off-topic tangents.
Sorry, guys.
