I want to know what everyone thinks. If there was a country week, would David C. be successful?

After watching the show for so many years, I've learned that musically smart contestants, like David, always know how to pull off even the most difficult weeks. It might not be David's best week, but I definitely think that he'll be fine.

I think if he finds the right choice he'll be fine. He lives in Tulsa, he has to be at least somewhat familiar with some country music.

There's a lot of rock-country out there, not just the twangy stuff.

I'm sure he can pull it off. Like someone said, it may not be his best week, but we'll help him skate through!

Of course! I think he'd kick ass at country, especially if he picks something with a bluesy edge. He could totally "rockify" it.

Of course he can! It might not necessarily be the twangiest thing, but country doesn't have to be that way. He would probably do AMAZING that week.

I don't know if David could be one of the best country singers, but if he chooses a song with less "twang", then I think he would make it through. :]
He's from Oklahoma anyway. :P

Well said. That and he has a very grunge/southern rock, type voice. So I think country would be too much of a stretch. He's like the king of song choice.

I'm pretty sure that he would do great, no matter what type of song it is!!

Completely agree - he's not just a singer he's a musician and so in tune with who he is and what he does he will bring that to all his performances. I really can't see him having a disasterous week

of course! He may not have the country drawl in his singing, but like he said, he grew up on Garth Brooks and George Straight, and he listened to country growing up, so he'd have an easier time picking the right song....not to mention he's just God-like in his song choices anyway, so he'll get through it fine!

I'm very sure he'll make a wise choice. But hopefully there will be no country week... haha. I'm not a fan.

He has already done a Bryan Adams song-Everything I Do. He can do them all. The really good muscians will surprise you everytime with their choices.

I dunno if you guys have seen the previous seasons. But there'll mostly no doubt be a country theme. As there was a disco theme.
Because it's been in almost every Idol, since season 1.

If there is a country week this season, I'm sure he'll do fine
He has a pretty diverse vocal range and with the right song, he'll nail it, no doubt
It may not being his strongest, but I can't really see him doing bad at all

In an interview (I can't recall which one at the moment) but he said that he is really inspired by southern rock and country vibes. So I totally think he could pull it off.

A truly amazing musician can pull off just about anything... and that's what David is.
Although, I don't really like country.. so not looking forward to that week.

My thoughts exactly! I'm hoping that since there were 2 Beatles weeks maybe they won't have time for a country week. But that's just me wishing for that! Last night my mom told me she can't wait for country week not only does she love country but she said she can't wait because she knows David will do bad. Grrrrrr.

To which I responded..."Well...I hope Kristy goes home tomorrow" since that's her fav. I think David could do a country song just fine so now even though I hate country music I kinda can't wait for that week so David can do awesome and prove my mom wrong!

lol, I've been thinkin' that. But I think he'd do a rock-country.
And lol Pallas. My whole fam wants Kristy gone, but they could care less about anyone else. My mom and my grandma are still missing Taylor Hicks. lol I did until David Roland Cook came along. lolz

I think there are lots of country songs David could do. He could always do that country Bon Jovi song if nothing else. We know he kicks butt with Bon Jovi.

I dunno if you guys have heard of a band called Old Crow Medicine Show, they're kind of a bluesy country/bluegrass band... anyway, I was listening to them today, and they have a song called "Don't Ride That Horse" that's got a really strong blues vibe to it, and when that song came on I thought "Wow, David should SO do this for country week." They're a little obscure so I'm sure it's unlikely that he would do it, but the thought of it alone gives me chills.
I think he'd do a good job with a Ryan Adams song too. That's what I'm hoping for. Just as long as it's not "Stars Go Blue". I HATE that song. I threw a fit last year when Blake sang it. *shudder*

^ lol. I don't like the song, but Blake's version was OKAY. Better than the original, but it's only because it didn't have that country twang I think. David will do fine if he picks the right song. And he's awesome in that deptarment, anyway. And there is going to be a country week because, of all people, Dolly Pardon is going to be a guest judge.

Yeah, I mean, I thought Blake sang it well. It's a lovely melody, really, but the lyrics are seriously probably the single dumbest thing I have ever heard. I am a HUGE Ryan Adams fan, but I just hate it.

I also saw an interview somewhere where he mentioned having a bit of country influence in his style. He could totally pull it off. I agree that something southern rockish would be cool for him, maybe Shooter Jennings or Skynard (if they're considered "country" enough for a country week).

I think that he's gonna find the perfect song for him, something country/rock or he will change it a bit to make it more "rock" than country... I don't know, I can't wait to see!

He'll do fine. Like many have said he's a musician with a knack for finding the right song and making it his own. Best thing is David will have fun with it. Lots of the viewers (I'm not one of them by the way) will change their votes weekly as to who they think performed the best.
With that and our speed dialing I think its going to be a good night.

I have to admit I am only familiar with the popular Dolly songs. David is very very talented and I think he'll pull it off. Any thoughts on the upcoming Neil Diamond or Andrew Lloyd Weber?
