I'm a Music Supervisor and I have my own company now. However I worked for MTV for two years. I was the Music Coordinator for "NEXT". The show is over now but at the time (2005-2007) I licensed over 300 Indie artists and used thousands of songs for two seasons.

Basically I would look online for almost all of the music. Not just on My Space but tons and tons of sites with Indie artists like iChannel.com and so forth. We didn't have a budget for Major label artists. I regret it soooo badly that I never found David's music or knew of him at the time. I would have without a doubt licensed all his music to MTV for not only "NEXT" but all of the shows there. The music dept. shared all the music. Many of the bands and singers that I licensed I've actually become friends with. They were so pleased that I loved their music and put them on MTV...it was a big deal to these Indie bands, even though the shows were, well ya know...haha.

God I wish I would have known about David sad.gif It really has been bugging me like crazy!!! sad.gif I can't believe I never came across his music then. It boggles me how that happened unsure.gif

Anyway I just wanted to vent!!!!

Don't worry - David was meant to pop up at this time for a reason. smile.gif

this is off-topic, but how do you get a job like that?! it's essentially my dream job.

^ Ohhh I've been working in the music business since I was 18. I'm 26 now but I started at MTV in another position and then I worked myself into the music there and got promoted to Music Coordinator. Basically you just have to work in every area of the music biz. That's what I did. Everywhere from radio stations, booking agencies, record labels....I did it all. But I always knew I wanted to be a Music Supervisor. Just keep at it and hopefully you will one day get to be where you wanna be smile.gif

I understand your venting..that would be maddening. But I guess keep in mind that maybe he had to take this path with American Idol. Maybe it was the only way he was going to build such a big fan base and have the great and succesful career we all know he will have. I don't know, everything happens for a reason right? Or at least that's what I tell myself so I don't go insane. You'll meet him someday if you're meant to

What a cool job! I'm sure it's upsetting to think DC was out there somewhere, and though you tried to find someone as talented as him, for whatever reason, it wasn't meant to ve.

Totally agree with everyone else . . . . this was meant to be David's path for whatever reason -- maybe to get his solo disc(s) done. Maybe to have this platform where such a wide fan base can just embrace him and his music.
