Good morning everyone! Since I started this thread about getting "Backstage at Rosemont", I thought I'd share a few details about one of the most awesome days of my life with all of you! I got to All State Arena ( I'm 35, so I still call it Rosemont!) around 2pm with my friend Patti. We had no real hopes of seeing the Idols that late, but thought we'd just check out the scene. As soon as we pulled up, we saw the crowd taking pics so we parked the car and jumped out with our cameras. We got there when MJ was about half way down the line. Well, I don't need to give all of you who were there the details of DC NOT coming out because I'm sure your hearts were broken like mine. I was resigned to wait after the show. It was fun seeing the other Idols though and Archie's Dad talking up the crowd was hilarious!
So, anyway, we had great seats thanks to a high school friend who works for Jam productions. About 45 minutes into the show this weird looking little guy sits down in front of us and starts talking to the people sitting there. He had a pass around his neck and jjust looked like someone who had something to do with the show. Then I saw him hand someone something from his pocket and then take out a list and look it over. Then he showed the guy some pics on his phone and they were of him and Castro, him and Archie, etc. I saw my opening! I leaned over and said "hey, do you have any pics of David Cook on there?" he showed me a few pics of DC on stage in Arizona. I introduced myself and he said his name was Gary. I said I couldn't believe I had been there since 2pm and had not even had a glimpse of DC yet. He laughed and said something about having dinner with him before the show. So I basicly just came out and said I want to meet DC, how can I go about doing that. Gary said that we'd talk later, to just hang out and not worry. He got up a few minutes later and said he'd back in a little while.
Well, believe it or not, he came back and gave me 4 Afterparty passes for Patti and I and my friend's daughter and her friend who I was driving home! I didn't even really know what exactly the passes were for, but Gary said to wait after the show by the stage and they would take us to meet the Idols. We only had to wait about 10 minutes and then they brought us across the street to the Will Call building and into this room. I guess I thought it was going to be more formal and controlled, but it was more like a cocktail party without the cocktails! When we walked in the room there was MJ and Jason just standing around talking to people. That's when I realized that DC was actually in that room somewhere and that I was going to actually meet him! I started to have a panic attack and turned around to walk back out, if you can believe it. i just started freaking out a little bit! But Patti grabbed my arm and we walked over to MJ and I took her pic with him. My hands were shaking terribly and MJ said not to be nervous- he's super nice! I knew DC was there, but I was afraid to look around. Then Patti grabbed my arm again and pulled me around some people and there he was! I felt like I was going to cry or faint, but I didn't do either. He was awesome, of course! We took some pics and he signed my TV guide. I told him he how great he was tonight and how much I loved Analog Heart. I said it was one of my favorite albums and there wasn't one song I ever skipped over because they were all great. He said it made him really happy to hear that and he hoped I'd like the new one. Most people were getting their pics and autographs and then moving on, but not me! Nope, i stood right there for 30 minutes and watched him sign autographs and just listenened to him talk. He is so amazingly beautiful! I swear I could have stood there forever! His butt is ridiculous, especially in the jeans he was wearing. Patti and I kept making little comments back and forth to him in between him meeting people. At one point I said I hoped he didn't think I was a stalker, I just wanted to hang out. He laughed and said it was no problem except that in a few minutes he might start to get a little nervous, haha. I said I knew I wasn't acting very cool and he said on a scale of 1 to 10 for being cool I was about a 7 1/2, but I think he was being very generous! I just couldn't make myself leave. I didn't want to meet any of the other Idols and I couldn't imagine turning around and walking away if I wasn't being forcibly made to. Finally, the security guy came over and asked if he was going to go outside to sign autographs (that would have been me out there if not for the wonderful Gary!) and he said yes and then he signed a few more autographs and said he had to go. He gathered up his gifts and I said "bye, David" and he turned around and came over and gave a me a really big tight hug! OMG, I could have melted into a puddle right there. All in all, it was one of the very best days of my entire life and I am so happy that I got to meet him and that he turned out to be even more amazing then I had already thought he was.
So, sorry this was long, but I know that I always like reading the details of people who have met him and I wanted to share it with all of you. I hope everyone had an amazing time yesterday and I'd love to hear your details if you were as lucky as I was!
