One of the posters at mj's blog was wondering if something was wrong after seeing the Billie Jean vid. She was saying he didn't look too happy in the vid and she asked if others who actually went thought the same thing.

Good morning everyone! Since I started this thread about getting "Backstage at Rosemont", I thought I'd share a few details about one of the most awesome days of my life with all of you! I got to All State Arena ( I'm 35, so I still call it Rosemont!) around 2pm with my friend Patti. We had no real hopes of seeing the Idols that late, but thought we'd just check out the scene. As soon as we pulled up, we saw the crowd taking pics so we parked the car and jumped out with our cameras. We got there when MJ was about half way down the line. Well, I don't need to give all of you who were there the details of DC NOT coming out because I'm sure your hearts were broken like mine. I was resigned to wait after the show. It was fun seeing the other Idols though and Archie's Dad talking up the crowd was hilarious!

So, anyway, we had great seats thanks to a high school friend who works for Jam productions. About 45 minutes into the show this weird looking little guy sits down in front of us and starts talking to the people sitting there. He had a pass around his neck and jjust looked like someone who had something to do with the show. Then I saw him hand someone something from his pocket and then take out a list and look it over. Then he showed the guy some pics on his phone and they were of him and Castro, him and Archie, etc. I saw my opening! I leaned over and said "hey, do you have any pics of David Cook on there?" he showed me a few pics of DC on stage in Arizona. I introduced myself and he said his name was Gary. I said I couldn't believe I had been there since 2pm and had not even had a glimpse of DC yet. He laughed and said something about having dinner with him before the show. So I basicly just came out and said I want to meet DC, how can I go about doing that. Gary said that we'd talk later, to just hang out and not worry. He got up a few minutes later and said he'd back in a little while.

Well, believe it or not, he came back and gave me 4 Afterparty passes for Patti and I and my friend's daughter and her friend who I was driving home! I didn't even really know what exactly the passes were for, but Gary said to wait after the show by the stage and they would take us to meet the Idols. We only had to wait about 10 minutes and then they brought us across the street to the Will Call building and into this room. I guess I thought it was going to be more formal and controlled, but it was more like a cocktail party without the cocktails! When we walked in the room there was MJ and Jason just standing around talking to people. That's when I realized that DC was actually in that room somewhere and that I was going to actually meet him! I started to have a panic attack and turned around to walk back out, if you can believe it. i just started freaking out a little bit! But Patti grabbed my arm and we walked over to MJ and I took her pic with him. My hands were shaking terribly and MJ said not to be nervous- he's super nice! I knew DC was there, but I was afraid to look around. Then Patti grabbed my arm again and pulled me around some people and there he was! I felt like I was going to cry or faint, but I didn't do either. He was awesome, of course! We took some pics and he signed my TV guide. I told him he how great he was tonight and how much I loved Analog Heart. I said it was one of my favorite albums and there wasn't one song I ever skipped over because they were all great. He said it made him really happy to hear that and he hoped I'd like the new one. Most people were getting their pics and autographs and then moving on, but not me! Nope, i stood right there for 30 minutes and watched him sign autographs and just listenened to him talk. He is so amazingly beautiful! I swear I could have stood there forever! His butt is ridiculous, especially in the jeans he was wearing. Patti and I kept making little comments back and forth to him in between him meeting people. At one point I said I hoped he didn't think I was a stalker, I just wanted to hang out. He laughed and said it was no problem except that in a few minutes he might start to get a little nervous, haha. I said I knew I wasn't acting very cool and he said on a scale of 1 to 10 for being cool I was about a 7 1/2, but I think he was being very generous! I just couldn't make myself leave. I didn't want to meet any of the other Idols and I couldn't imagine turning around and walking away if I wasn't being forcibly made to. Finally, the security guy came over and asked if he was going to go outside to sign autographs (that would have been me out there if not for the wonderful Gary!) and he said yes and then he signed a few more autographs and said he had to go. He gathered up his gifts and I said "bye, David" and he turned around and came over and gave a me a really big tight hug! OMG, I could have melted into a puddle right there. All in all, it was one of the very best days of my entire life and I am so happy that I got to meet him and that he turned out to be even more amazing then I had already thought he was.

So, sorry this was long, but I know that I always like reading the details of people who have met him and I wanted to share it with all of you. I hope everyone had an amazing time yesterday and I'd love to hear your details if you were as lucky as I was!

awwwww you lucky girl you! I'm glad you got your hug too. biggrin.gif

Hi jul,
hey when are you and Nicole getting to Indy?
I am gonna get there about noon or 1 pm tomorrow and so is a couple
coming from south bend. we are all staying at the days inn.
then i am supposed to call the lady I got the tix from, Ann/Abevilac
and KatieUrbs. Sounds from this thread that maybe eating at
Slippery noodle might happen.
My friend Judi is not coming with me Mon/Tues, I think yesterday
wore her out!! So anyway, I may have an extra ticket
F2 row 2 if anyone wants it before I call anyone.
I'll be checking back here in a few hours or you can call my cell
219-381-4229. Can you or Nicole send me your cell # and maybe
we could hookup there in Indy somehow anyway?
And dying to know if you ever got to see David after the hotel!
I felt kinda bad for him yesterday, something seems off to me....bless his heart.

We haven't decided yet. It'll probably depend on the weather and stuff.. I don't know if I want to spend another afternoon in the rain. laugh.gif I'll have Nic send you her cell #, and I'm sure we could meet up!

We didn't see David out by the busses BUT we got After Party passes and met him there. biggrin.gif He was sorry that he couldn't come out in the afternoon, but he had a meeting.

He was absolutely fine at the AP, but at the busses after that everyone was shoving things at him..I felt bad too.

I don't understand why the Idol people aren't controlling the crowd. David shouldn't be put in a position to have to tell people to settle down. Shoot, the girls are the ones that carried the fencing a few cities ago, and those two "handlers" if they aren't security, they should be telling the venue security to tell people no pushing, no shoving, not, whatever the rules are. But come on... this isn't the first tour, why are they not doing something!!!
DCnMe
I agree that he seemed perfectly fine at the Afterparty. He was really calm and taking his time talking to people. He was also goofing around and laughing a lot. I asked him how his knee felt and he said it was OK. I stayed until he left which was probably right before 12am. I'm sure he was exhausted and dealing with a restless, pushing crowd was probably not fun. When I was there in the afternoon, I was really surprised at how calm everyone was. Even when Jason and Archie came out, there really wasn't any pushing or carrying on. When we were driving away, it did look like there were a lot more people waiting by the buses then there had been in the afternoon. I had asked Archie when he came out in the afternoon if DC was coming out (which is pretty funny, if I do say so myself!) and he said there probably wouldn't be enough time because he had to do Pop Tarts press beforehand. Archie said they took turns at each show doing press before. I heard that DC didn't come out before the last show in St. Louis, but I think that was because of his knee. Poor guy, he must be extremely exhausted. To put on a performance for the press, then do that stage performance, then come to the afterparty, then out to sign autographs must be very draining even if he is loving it.

I think I saw you at the afterparty. Did you have him say hi to your friend Stacey that you were talking to on the phone? Cause after that happened I was like "my name is Stacey" and he said "Hi Stacey!" again.

I wish I got to the afterparty gahhh!!!

It must have been the DC line when I was waiting to go through with Jul, Nicole and Annie so I could take pictures of them.
*Nicole*
Stacey, thanks so much for taking pictures for us last night at the AP. We seriously owe you like, the world. Have you loaded our video with David yet? biggrin.gif

Hello All! Wasn't that a great show? I'm really enjoying reading all the comments and reviews. Thanks for sharing all the details!

I have a quick question: Did anyone feel that David wasn't completely himself during his performance last night? I mean, he was amazing, but his facial expressions weren't very.....you know, he wasn't as lit up as when we saw him on Idol. Or, at least that's how it felt to me. I was up on the 2nd level so I had to totally rely on the mega screens. (And why are they insisting on eye makeup for him???)

It might have been an off day for him, or just my perception. If anyone has an inside scoop I'd love to know. Thanks!!

No I agree, something was clearly off with him all day yesterday

I think I read somehwere that there were a bunch of fans who went wild after him at the hotel? Not sure about the story, but it it's true, then that's too bad. From all accounts, David has been so gracious to all the autograph seekers. It makes me cringe a bit to see some of the u-tube videos with people screaming and pushing and DC is calmly answering questions and thanking people.
PennyKeating
when he came out to the buses in the morning he looked PISSED! MJ said he was crabby - Jason said he was crabby.. Carly said he was out of sorts.... but no one would elaborate. LOL
Dialing4David
Thanks.....I guess my intuition is on target, but that's too bad for David. Maybe the craziness of the tour is getting to him. I'm going to send him some good energy.....

Yeah, his day didn't start out the best because of everything that happened at the hotel, which I am not allowed to go in detail about. All I can say is that people need to learn where to draw the privacy line, and know the difference between being a fan, and a creeper.

As for his expressions on stage, I think he was being himself. The jumbotrons didn't do justice.. I was in the 5th row and got some great shots. Maybe this will help.. wink.gif

Jul
Yeah, he looks like he was having fun to me. biggrin.gif
Sammi
I dunno I thought something was off all day, which I can't say I blame him since apparently someone actually chased him through the hotel halls, and after being rushed by those girls outside. But even during the show and after the show he seemed very unhappy/irritated to me.

Yea, I heard that girls were going on all the floors trying to find his hotel room.
I hope they don't do that in houston, cause I want him to be amazing!!

Bless you...me too. The man is likely definitely tired. Sure that the pushing, etc. in St. Louis
got to him, then to have the girls in his face when he came out of the hotel, where he was not
expecting it, just added to the issue. Ya know most of those girls were young and probably
dont know better yet, but some of them were def. old enuf to understand; bad timing.
The feeling I got was the same as press week after he won...hey, no one can be "on"
100+ % all the time, he's only human. He always gives his best at that time, and that is
what counts and why everyone loves him!! smile.gif
Stacey81
Some people at the hotel were a bit obnoxious, and those people would be the creepy ones the were up at their rooms shoving books and cards under their doors (which a girl told Jeff Archuleta she did, and he totally called her out and told her they were all freaked out by it). But DC did sign a couple (like 5) of autographs outside the hotel, so I think he realized that the people waiting by the buses were NOT the same freaks in the halls of the hotel stalking them.

David did seem out of sorts to me and wasn't exactly how I thought he'd be when I met him at the after party (although he did give me a really nice hug and told me he'd love to take a photo w/ me when I asked). But since Carly, MJ and Jason even said that he wasn't himself I'm pretty confident that this wasn't a good representation of how he normally is. But on the other hand, he was pretty patient and nice to everyone considering his mood. Plus he was awesome with Jul, Nicole and Annie (which I photo'd paparazzi style). He was going to let Nicole sit on his lap because she's so small, but she asked for a piggy back ride and he kindly obliged. It was pretty adorable, if I do say so myself.

In the end, it was a bit disappointing... but I'm getting over it. I think the KC and Ft Wayne shows will be a lot better. I'm looking forward to them.
lizajd
It's too bad, but "fans" like those other girls are going to ruin it for everyone! David is soooo nice and really wants to be accessible to all. But if some people get that obnoxious, he is going to withdraw from us. I would hate to see that happen, because he has been amazingly gracious to everyone! Fortunately, when I met him, the fans were all great. There was no pushing, shoving, screaming. It was very organized and well-behaved. He was soooo sweet!

Why aren't you allowed to go into details? It seems to me that if you have facts you could dispel some of these rumors that are circulating.

I was waiting by the buses and felt that the women and girls there were not obnoxious as you are insinuating. I was also there after the show by the buses and that crowd was much more unruly. My daughter told me - "Mom, that's nothing compared to the crowds at big concerts."

Good Morning everyone!

Ahhhh yes, Quite a day!
I'm sorry to say that my "meeting with David" was practically non-existant, but I'm thrilled to know that others, for whom I have the utmost respect, were able to accomplish their dream!

My experience was probably more like most fan's will be. I'll re-cap it for those of you who aren't as fortunate as those who've had the ultimate experience.
Trust me, YOU WILL NOT BE DISPPOINTED EVEN IF ALL YOU DO IS SEE THE CONCERT!

We ( my Sister and I ) began by going to Rosemont about noon to meet with people from the board, pass out the few pictures I was able to print for people, and get the extra tickets to those who had requested them.
I had been informed by those who got there very early that the buses were parked right next door to the arena, at the Wyndham Hotel and that there were a lot of people who believed that the Idols were staying there.
So, we parked at the Wyndham instead of Allstate and met with a bunch of the DC.org people.

It was a thrill for me just to finally meet the kids from this board! What SUPER bunch of beautiful people! You guys have quieted my sister's objections to my "making friends" online. ( She' a little cynical about online stuff LOL)
(Sorry, I digressed)

Anyway, after planting ourselves right next to the buses we waited until one of the bus drivers came and my sister, who developed some newfound chutzpah, proceeded to ask the driver where she(the driver was a "she) was going to go to pick the Idols up. The driver told her what door to stand by, and how to get to it through the Hotel itself, so we proceeded very obviously through the Hotel as if we were paying guests! lol We were hardly inconspicuous, since I had Little Red, and by this time I was wiped out and was sitting on Little RED and my sister was pushing me through the Hotel's hallways and past the front desk!
We were almost at our destination, the south entrance, when right past us walks, (with carry on suitcase in hand and another person by her side) CARLY! she had no make up on and a 3/4 length sleeve shirt but I'd know that beautiful face anywhere and I whispered, "Oh! there's Carly". My sister disagreed at the identity then we saw a tiny bit of her tatooed arm beneath her sleeve! Sure enough! I called her name in a respectable volumn, but she didn't turn around.

We got back outside to where, by this time the buses were parked waiting to load the idols for their 1/2 block trip to Allstate. About fifteen minutes later, they came out in dribbles one at a time and signed a few autographs and took a few pictures. There were only about 30-40 of us there so it wasn't too bad, but bad enough that I decided it would be better for me to stay back on the sidewalk and let the people who were more ambulatory get their sigs and pics without me and Red being in their way. My sister did manage to get a sig from David for me and I was able to take some lame pics from the distance.

After the Idols loaded the buses and took off for Allstate, we drove around to the Allstate parking lot and saw about 200 or more people standing against the fence there, but we didnt' stay. We went home for a much needed freshen up!

We came back in the evening about 6:20 p.m. and found our way to our seats. Rosemont was kind enough to allow me to take my walker (RED) down to my seat which was front row side, and we managed to sqeeze it in so I could sit on it instead of the chairs provided. People were extremely kind and anyone who might be reading this who was there , thank you, thank you for your patience and assistance!

THE CONCERT WAS MAGNIFICENT! I especially loved MJ, Carly, Chickezie, Archie and Of course DAVID!
I cellcasted for Rickey during MJ and Kristy's sets and he said the sound was ok. The group performances were great, too!

We left right after the concert because the lines to get sigs by the fence were 6 deep and we were just too exhausted to stay, but for younger fans I'd recommend staying and trying. The hype and just seeing them interact with everyone is worth it.

The whole experience was something well worth every ache and pain I felt and will be feeling for days to come! LOL!
Lord willing, I WILL go to David's solo and I might go to Michael's also!

Again, a huge HI to all the great people I finally met yesterday. Hugs to all of 'ya! LOVE YOU ALL, Cindi.

P.S.( I'll be downloading and posting the lame pics as soon as the coffee and Ibuprophen kick in! )

I enjoyed the concert a lot too, even though I wasn't able to meet any of them. I thought all the Idols really improved their stage performance; I was really pleasantly surprised as to how professional they performed!

I'm sorry that you weren't able to speak with Carly, but that's still pretty sweet that you saw her in real life/3-D! laugh.gif

All of you guys missed a good show at the IHOP yesterday. We went over there about 1 or 2ish,...somewhere around there. After we got done eating, all these cop cars swarmed in, blocked off traffic and surrounded the bank next door. All the cops had weapons drawn, pointing at the bank..one cop had his riot shield up and 2 more behind him with their weapons up over his shoulder as they approached the building...

turns out it was a tripped alarm lmao

OMG! that's sweet laugh.gif it's like a scene out of a movie!

I was waiting by the buses and felt that the women and girls there were not obnoxious as you are insinuating. I was also there after the show by the buses and that crowd was much more unruly. My daughter told me - "Mom, that's nothing compared to the crowds at big concerts."

Yes, I never knew about the unruly, pushy-shovey crowd until I read these boards. I mean, after the concert I saw a ton of people surrounding the gated buses, so I assumed the crowds were fairly controlled, but I never heard about the stalking girls in the hotel. Man, that seriously sucks for DC. I never realized how many crazed fans he had. I always thought his fans would be respectable like everyone on these boards.

Hey everybody,
just wanted to give a quick message (trying to finsih up some American Cancer Society business and leave for Indy).
It was so nice to meet all of you that I did on Saturday! While David has some fans apparently
who are having trouble behaving appropriately, this is certainly not true about our group Sat. smile.gif
I have a friend in Detroit who says ppl like our group are NOT fans, we are AFICIONADO's!!
Ppl with real affection for David and devoted to support him, his best interests, causes and what
he stands for. I like it!!

Also, thanks again to all who printed pics, kept me updated on the when & where & what's about the
plans for meeting. It made the day even better smile.gif

Yes, that was me that had him say hi to my friend Stacey. Isn't that funny we were all in the same room and didn't even know it? I really thought DC seemed all right at the AP. I stood there the whole time (not being pushy or crazy, just off to the side, being in his presence) and he looked tired but not too stressed out. How awful that he was chased through the halls like that. It's like everyone wants a piece of him and there is only so much to go around. Security really needs to be on top of this stuff. I was surprised that there wasn't more security at the AP. I kept thinking that I could tackle him (gently) to the ground and it would be at least a minute or two before anyone got to me and pulled me off! LOL

I heard you saying all that stuff on the phone while I was taking pictures of Jul and Nicole w/DC. I was like "um, don't jump him!" But then Nicole did. laugh.gif

He was so cute when he said "Hi Stacey" twice. Yay DC.
PennyKeating
I was in the hotel too - and i'd love to know who was stalking him in the halls - i didn't see anyone going up and down the floors?

Nicole - Yeah, his day didn't start out the best because of everything that happened at the hotel, which I am not allowed to go in detail about. You were part of the crew at the hotel with us, and i was with you most of the time *laughs* We were all there - what exactly happened that you saw that we didn't? *laughs*

And your a bad girl - a piggy back ride with a sprained knee - OUCH!

As to the people that swarmed him when he came out to the bus - you know who you were and that's all I'll say about that wink.gif

re: dave being "OFF"

consider this....

he did not get into this for the celebrity, it is all new to him

he is TIRED

AND INJURED.

and most likely he is NOW SCARED.

HOW OVERWHELMING THIS ALL MUST BE.

remember too, the stress level is up, he is doing press and he is working on the album during this time, too. i am sure he is doing his best.

i know for those who attended the supposed "off" show this is no concellation (spelling? some word nerd i am), if it was my show i MAY be a little dissapointed too.

my question is... was security not with him when he was caught in the hotel halls?
PennyKeating
I still want to know who caught him in the hotel halls! LOL I was there and i didn't hear of anyone catching him in the halls! i do know who the people were that bum rushed him....

And - i'm getting tired of the way people are calling us "stalkers" for being at the hotel. Well hell, standing out in the pouring rain would have been so much better i guess. The bus driver told us what time and where to go for pete's sake. *sigh*

I don't think that anyone is faulting him for having a bad day. Like I said before, he was pretty awesome for someone in a bad mood.

As for security, the hotel wasn't really doing the best job. I think they left it up to the Idol's personal security. The concierge almost offered up the room info (except he didn't know it) until I told him I wasn't interested. I just wanted to know if we could stand at the entrance.

In hindsight, hotel was a bad idea.

One of the girls that went upstairs to the rooms was with her MOTHER when she did it. I talked to her at the buses. Jeff Archuleta gave her a stern talking-to though. So hopefully she's learned a lesson. Her mom's a total nutjob though.
PennyKeating
WHAT???!!! she went up with her Mother??? That is insane..... why would you let your kid go up and stalk their rooms?? Hey - we sat by that little door and outside - i don't think what we did was in any way wrong. Hell, we didn't even know they were there until the bus driver TOLD us!

That's just insane! I felt funny walking through the hotel lobby to get from one door to the other and they TOLD us to do that! I can't imagine what kind of weirdo would go to their rooms.
Good thing to know, Do NOT STAY at a Wyndham!

That's a new one to me too. Somebody actually caught him in the hotel halls? Thanks for your post about being called stalkers. The bus drivers were actually very nice. Both took my books that I brought on board.
Dialing4David
Thanks for filling me in on the behind-the-scenes stuff at the Chicago concert. And to clarify my initial remark--I was absolutely NOT faulting David. I just thought I noticed something and wanted to know if anyone had the backstory. I think he's doing an amazing job at all this. I can't believe how gracious they all are to their fans. After reading interviews where they're asked about this whole experience, they all say how amazing it's been and that they can't believe where life has taken them, considering where they were and what they were doing exactly 1 year ago!

Cant wait to read your review Stacey!

And Nicole, I have been wondering how Cincinnati and Detroit went for you and Julie...I hope
my 'prediction' for lack of a better word was right and that despite or actually because of
Chicago, it went beyond spectacular for you guys!! smile.gif Hope BintheBG learned a lesson!

From here on forward I am referring to you all as Cooks Chicago Crew! (CCC). smile.gif

Today has been a very sad day for me. sad.gif Jul left this morning and we cried and hugged forever. I know we're seeing each other again in 2 weeks to go to Indy for the Daughtry show, but it's not the same. It's not David. Anyway... I'm going to put a load of laundry on and start writing my Indy review. Jul is typing her Cinci review on the bus, and then we'll probably write Detroit later on tonight/tomorrow. smile.gif
Jul
OMG I'm so freakin depressed. sad.gif I keep staring at Nicole's and my signatures and I want to cry again.. Daughtry and BSB will be a blast, but it's different than David. I'm just glad we'll have Dearborn together.

I miss everyone so much!! We'll have to plan some kind of Chicago reunion. biggrin.gif
CareBear
Hi Jul & Nicole,
goodbyes are sad sad.gif
But just think once you take care of your daily business and spend time
planning your next get together...it will be here in no time!!

I know, I sound like "auntie Carrie" or something, sorry 'bout that...just
giving you positive motivation!

Looking forward to hearing your adventures in Cin and Det. smile.gif
*Nicole*
Hey Carrie! smile.gif

Jul posted her Cinci review in the review section of the tour forum. Detroit may have to wait til tomorrow...
