Hi Melissa!!! I am so excited. A few of us that are going into DC for the concert have been talking about hotels. I think I am staying at the JW Marriott. I was hoping to get in Courtyard by Marriott which is closer to Verizon, but it is about 2 the price. Oh well.

I'll send an email out to everyone, or post here next week, when we decide on what we are doing.
YAHOO!!!!

I'll be looking for the details! I've stayed at that Marriott there twice and it is very convenient (close) but you're right it is kind of pricey. I will be driving in with my sister the night before and staying with a friend in Frederick, Maryland. She and I are planning on getting to the venue around 11ish on the day of the show! I am really hoping that they come out before the show. Being that they are in DC, they may want to do some sightseeing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! smile.gif

The concert is getting ever closer! 9 days!!!

I know this idea was thrown around before, but I really think we should have some type of sign to welcome David to DC. It couldn't hurt right? Who knows, it may even help us as far as getting him to come out and take pictures with us. Thoughts? smile.gif

I've definitely been mulling over sign ideas ... give me another day or three though smile.gif

Here's what I had in mind, sign-wise. Getting a big ole white sheet and simply putting D.C. (heart symbol) DC! We are waaaay up in the nose-bleed section #400 so I'm hoping that I can drape it over the railing (where the advertisements usually are, ya know?) I've seen this done at other venues; not sure if the Verizon Ctr. will allow it, but I'm going to try! Maybe I could even paint the Washington monument and Capitol bldg on there to make it look very 'D.C.' Don't know if that would be too big to hold up as the buses pass by (to lure that young man out!!) What do you think?
I'm also making a T-shirt for him. So if I don't get to meet him I'll be majorly bummed! I was wondering if giving presents to a roadie after the show would be fruitless? Who knows where the thing would end up!?
My co-worker Vicky and I (we're both Cougars 4 Cook!) are taking the day off for a full day of stalking, so I'd love to meet up with you guys at the Turtle restaurant if that's the plan.

I like that idea! I have been to shows in the past where I see people with big banners like that and the performers can usually see them/acknowledge them. As long as it doesn't cause other people to not be able to see you should be OK! smile.gif

I love the DC <3's DC. Cuz we do. I just bought my tickets today- so excited. We just started a team for the Virginias and DC (really the whole midatlantic) for the ACS- here's the link. http://www.david-cook.org/index.php?showtopic=11702&st=0

Hey Jess,
Thanks for setting up the Team Virginias and D.C.! I saw your banner earlier and was wondering if it was for the Virginia/D.C. area. My daughter had leukemia and I usually participate in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk as well as the ACS Relay for Life. So now I can donate here!

So the Verizon Center show is not sold out? You said you just bought your tix. I'm going to keep checking Ticktmaster to see if I can get better seats than the 400 level.

OMG; only 9 more days until we see David live and in person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, if you click on the text of the banner, it will take you right to our team's page. Sorry to hear about your daughter. If you'd like me to add her name to the team's page, just let me know.

Ticketmaster is starting to release more tickets. I just checked tonight. You might have to do them one at a time, but I got seats right in front of each other. Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions about the ACS!

That is a great idea!! But don't throw it over banner till he comes up for Hello. otherwise, they might make you take it down.
i have closer seats if you want them. if i don't sell, them i'd give them to you for free. sections 104 and 110 i think.
i know i am crazy. don't tell my friends.

UPDATE to everyone with floor seats in the center section:

I called the box office and they said that the center section (section 2) begins with row H.

I know that for some odd reason, arenas hardly EVER have row I's (weird I know)... SO

Suze looks like you are in the 2nd row!! Congrats! My sis and I will be a few rows behind you in the 4th and 5th rows!! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

[quote name='Suze109' date='Aug 1 2008, 04:57 PM' post='307717']

Right now, I have seats in 113, right next to the stage ... still looking to upgrade if I can though! unsure.gif

You know I'll be there! Me and my 19 year old daughter ... Section 113 (I think you're right above me?)

______________

Hey Suze...what row are you in, in the 113 section? I checked online late last night and there were 2 tickets that had opened up in 113, Row K, seats 5 & 6, so I snagged them. I think I can practically leap out of my seat and onto DC on stage, LOL!

Thanks for the offer of your sections 105 and 110 tickets, though, Browneyedwoman! wink.gif
Do you have them listed for sale anywhere? I read that StubHub charges 15% to sell tix, which isn't bad. Not sure how much Ticketmaster charges, though they like to gauge you!
Soooo, if you know of anyone who is interested in 418, Row H, Seats 12 & 13, I'm looking to sell those.

Ewolf.girl

PS. Not sure why my quote/reply doesn't look like ya'lls. Maybe because I'm on a Mac??

TOO funny ... I just called Verizon Center about 45 minutes ago and the guy tried to tell me the 1st row in section 2 was row A ... I said no way, cuz of the catwalk, so he put me on hold to check with his supervisor and came back and told me row H ... I told him that answer made me VERY happy biggrin.gif

The next question that I have is about the number of seats in each row. It looks like there are 14 seats in a row according to the Ticketmaster seating chart in section 1. Do you think there are 14 seats in a row in sections 2 and 3 as well?

I'm pretty sure there are 14 seats across in each section ... I don't know why they don't show it on the seating chart, but I think it were different for sections 2 and 3 they would show that?!? unsure.gif

I need some advice. I have 2 set of tickets and I can't decide which seats are better...lol. If it was you, which of these would you keep?

Floor 5, Row B, Seats 5 & 6
or
Section 111, Row A, Seats 4 & 5

I was thinking that Section 111 would be better since it is raised and I wouldn't have to worry about seeing over tall people on the floor, but I am torn. I have never done floor seats at the Verizon Center before. Thoughts?

Personally, I'd take the tix in 111, row A. If you go with the sec 5 floors, even standing you might not be able to see because you will have like 28 rows of standing, possibly tall people in front of you. The 111s are elevated and you won't have anyone blocking your view.

Plus, if seats 4 and 5 are on the end of the row closest to the stage, it looks from the seating chart like you would actually be parallel to section 3 on the floor ... just my opinion though. Try calling Verizon's box office to find out how the seats are numbered in that that section!

I agree Deana, I think 111 row A would be your best bet. There's nothing worse than tons of heads in the way, especially when you're trying to see David! wink.gif

Thanks ladies, that is what I was thinking as well. I am going to keep the 111 seats and probably sell the other set, or find something creative to do with them. If anyone is still looking for tickets let me know!

Around 3 this morning after reading the post above about sec. 5 floor vs section 111, just for the heck of it I checked Ticketmaster and seats in section 112 came up (previously I think only 400's nosebleed seats were still coming up.) I already had floor seats in Sec. 6 that I bought during the pre-sale, so like yiddidea I had to decide what was going to be better. So I bought the 112 seats (having a full view of the Mavid dance is what swayed me) and now I've got just a few days to sell the Floor seats on eBay or Stub Hub or somewhere!

In the meantime, my daughter and I will be taking the Metro in from Vienna, so we're planning to get down there by 11 that morning.

I have a pair of extra tickets now in section 113, row N if anyone is interested. Just trying to sell them for what I paid ... which I think with fees and such is $184 for the pair. PM me if you're interested! (113 is the section right next to the Mavid side of the stage tongue.gif )

This probably going to be a really dumb question and i know it will be but i'm going to ask anyways lol...

I know washington dc has alot of crime there but where the concert is going to be at (verizon center) is it in like a safe area? I do get there is never a safe area but the reason i am asking is because my mom thinks washington dc is like a really bad place and that is why i can't go to the concert. I mean if it wasn't safe they wouldn't take them there you know. I was just curious. I'm sorry if none of this made any sense or sounded dumb i was just curious.

Yeah I thought about trying to sell them on eBay or something, but I've decided to just bring the whole family instead. Originally it was just going to be me and my 19 yr old daughter going to DC and my husband and I going to Charlotte, but now all of us and my 10 yr old daughter will be going to the Verizon Center (the 10 yr old was a big Blake Lewis fan last season, but this year she gave up on AI after Danny Noriega was voted off! laugh.gif.) So it's a family affair now!

I still have floor seats in Charlotte, but those are a little further forward, so I'm going to keep those.

Oh, and I've been in email contact with Rickey -- I'm going to be a cellcaster in DC!! smile.gif

That's what I understood. I would take out the "Click here to make a donation" and the "You can also join the team as well if you want to help us reach our goal". Maybe we could add text like "$XXXX raised" and then put everyone's first name on it, or the "in memory" names, or something like that.

Count me in for going! Finally got my tickets today.. Section 112. They must be opening sections up because a week ago I would have never gotten tickets these good.

Hi Guys-

Did you guys get someone to print this? There is actually a Kinko's near the Verizon center, that I could email it to and then pick it up that morning.

Also, I am still looking for a single floor seat. I should have bought them when SUZE was getting hers!! Anyway, a guy has Sec 3, seat 1 row Y.

You think I should get it??

Also, if anyone has tickets for sale. I ended up putting mine back on ticketmaster and they sold them for the cost minus the service fee. So at least I got $120 for them.

Hi all!

I think the banner is going to look fantastic! I am going to New York for the weekend but I will be sure to make my donation when I return on Monday. I will be anxiously awaiting hearing about all the meet up/fan area for signing information. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!! smile.gif
