http://www.tmz.com/2008/05/07/is-the-fix-in-for-archuleta/David Archuleta could fart and the "A.I." judges would say bravo.
Davie boy was pretty good last night, but really, it's as if the judges were preprogrammed to drool over him regardless of what he did. They didn't cream over Kelly Clarkson the way they did with David, and no offense, but he eats her dust.
"Idol" has its mitts on the recording contracts of the winners. So is this about talent, or that David is more commercial and has a longer shelf life? We're just askin'.....The fart line actually made me laugh out loud.

Me, too. I thought that line was hilarious and, sadly, very true.

The fart line is hysterical!
Here's how I see it. Archie was the "golden" boy right out of the gate. All 3 judges pegged him as the one to beat. Then came along DC and the rules of the game changed, I'd say somewhere around Hello and Eleanor Rigby. While Cookie has been stronger and stronger, Archie has faded. AI does not want anything less than a David/David finale, we've all been saying that for weeks. So in order for that to happen, they've had to break down Jason, who has a significant fanbase and build Archie back up.
It's so calculated and transparent it's riduculous.
Anything less than a DC win and this show will not survive.

lol. that's to funny but so true. David could forget the lyrics completely to a song or stand there like an idiot on stage and the judges would praise him for doing so.

So true.
When Randy was telling DA about his solid performances week after week after week, all I could think of was...
WTH? How about FORGETTING lyrics to a Beatles song? Was that solid? Just an example.
And Simon DID say he could whistle the song and still sound amazing, coming after Jason's performance.
I know what he meant, but it made me think they probably would praise him just the same if he did decide to
do Bob Marley himself or whistle a Disney song.

yeah true if he whistled he would get praised for it.
i dunno if anyone last night caught that after Jasons 1st preformance he mouthed Don't vote while Ryan was saying his numbers? i guess he really doesnt want to be there anymore.

I've noticed a lot of people saying that today. I need to go back and watch his first performance. I'll say this, if he makes it through tonight, when we obviously know he wants to go home and Cookie ends up being the victim, then this show's credibility is in the toilet!

I just commented on this in another thread, but I watched it several times and it really looked like he was saying "Vote, vote" and not "Don't vote."
I know I tend to defend Jason a lot, and maybe it's just because I like him and I'm naive, but I really don't think he's the asshole everyone is making him out to be. He seems like a nice guy to me, and I don't think his recent comments had to do with him wanting to go home so much as the fact that he EXPECTS to go home. The judges and producers have made it pretty clear that his days are numbered, and I can't really blame him for sort of having an "F you" attitude about it. Plus he seems genuinely surprised that he's made it this far, and edged out some of the (arguably) more deserving performers.
Just my two cents.

I cannot stand David A. for the following reasons:
1) He cannot complete a sentence to save his life.
2) He is very odd looking on stage, while performing.
3) He just comes out there and sings a song, no feeling behind it. So it's not believeable at all to me.
4) He is completely unmarketable...yes...the kid has a good voice, but how boring is an album full of "Love Me Tenders" going to do? Seriously.
I just get irate everytime he walks onto the stage. Ok, I'll step down now, lol.

#4 is what I've been saying all along. BORING! BORING BORING! You'd think he's trying to save the world with his songs.

I think a lot of people are thinking he'll sell well to the Disney channel/HSM/Hanna Montana crowd, but honest to god, I've got a daughter in that demo, and I think he's going to be too tame and squeaky clean even for that. If Archuleta were to do a Naked Brothers cover, he'd probably change up the lyrics to "Yes, I Wanna Go to School (Because It's Cool)." As Casey Casum would say, they want music with a beat, and you can dance to it.

I have a daughter in the Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers demograhpic as well and Archie bores her. Her favorite thing is listening to music and dancing with girlfriends and I can't see Archie's ballads inspiring that in her.

Once again, I almost died, laughing at that very line.
But yes, I too feel that Archie has been overly pimped. Not once, not twice, but several occasions, even as some of his weeks were evidently bumpy. And all that kissing-up by the judges were evidently obvious in this week's performance show.
When the competition first started out, I was initially wowed by him. And so did Cookey. But as the weeks went by, especially when the top 12 started, I was getting more and more disconnected from Archie, while becoming more connected to Cookey.
I've this feeling that though talented Archie is, he's just not ready for superstardom.
