I'm a newbie so I'm not sure if anybody has shared this before.

I just bumped into David's vid when he performed LIVE The Truth (acoustic) from his solo album Analog Heart. It is verrryy verryy nice indeed rolleyes.gif
http://youtube.com/watch?v=4F8LJU5EgSY

Below is more details that I could find:

"David Cook performs The Truth from his solo album Analog Heart. This aired on Oct. 17, 2007 on OklaTravelNews as a preview to his upcoming show at Urban Tulsa Weekly's Soundproof Series.

The Truth

Two steps removed from every thing I thought I knew
There's no remedy
I see your face in every single thing I do
You change me
Your laugh intoxicating
One touch and I'm negating everything around
Take me and I'm yours
I only want you anymore
I kiss the ground

If you want to know the truth,
You make or break my day
If you want to know the truth
I wouldn't have it any other way

I rest my head from running circles 'round my mind
On why you let go
No answers to be found, romances all rewind
I guess I'll never know
Why your absence is devastating
No touch to calm my head and everyone around
You leave me when I'm yours
'Cause you don't want me anymore
I hit the ground, yeah

If you want to know the truth,
You make or break my day
If you want to know the truth
I wouldn't have it any other way, yeah

If you want to know the truth,
You make or break my day
If you want to know the truth
I wouldn't have it any other way

If you want to know the truth,
You make or break my day
If you want to know the truth
I wouldn't have it any other way
Any other way
If you want to know the truth,
You make or break my day
Any other way
If you want to know the truth,
You make or break my day
Any other way "

fascinating - its REALLY hard to hear him over the guitar.

i'd love to see him do that song on idol - not that they will let him.

that song could be an absolute monster hit - it's a shame they can't work out the recording contract side of it.

I agree. This is my favorite song off Analog Heart, it's just so haunting and beautiful. I hope and pray Idol will let David put this on his new CD.

I love this song. The first time I listened to Analog Heart this was the song that stood out to me. This one and "Let Go". wub.gif

I didn't buy the CD when it was still in itunes/amazon so I haven't listened to any of them yet. I bet the CD's will be out again once Idol is over.. only two more weeks...

which reminded me... what would I do after AI??? ohmy.gif

Next week's performance has 3 songs right? The first one is a contestant's choice....maybe they'll let David do one of his own? I hope so...The Truth and Makeover are my favorite songs from Analog Heart.

btw: Along with that view above, there's one of him performing a song called Optimistic To A Fault. Does anyone have a studio version of that one? Can't seem to find it anywhere

[edit] here's the link to the second song =D http://youtube.com/watch?v=Wh2YOkpbLnQ

Optimistic to a fault is a song on his second (unreleased) CD. He was working on it in August 07. I'm sure once Idol settles down it will be released!
WordNerdsUnite
Songs from his unreleased 2nd album - I think Optimistic to a Fault was a late addition to the tracks listed here:

A Daily AntheM

Chandeliers

The Downfall

Debutante

Elizabeth

Better Never Than Late

We're Only Honest When We're Sleeping

Eta Carinae

A Dirty Shame

Precious Decline

The album title was either going to be "Optimistic to a Fault" or " A Second Chance at a First Impression"

Thanks for this, I had been trying to decipher what he said in the behind the scenes interview about album titles when he mentioned 'Eta Carinae'. I couldn't figure out how the heck to spell it. Now I know. Hope the album still gets released. Maybe he can remaster Analog Heart and this one and put out a double-disc. HAha. Here's to wishful thinking biggrin.gif

And since you have this info.. do you know who is credited for playing on Analog Heart? Did he play it all himself? I've been wondering that for awhile since I haven't seen any readable photos of the physical CD.. Thanks!

I love his voice! Does anyone have the live acoustic mp3 version of THE TRUTH? I'd love a copy. I can't wait to buy his albums. It's taking too long.

Wow. This is gorgeous. Hard to hear him over the guitar sometimes --- I would LOVE for him to put it on his upcoming CD. I agree with the poster who said it was 'haunting' - it really is!

Or perhaps the song we've heard is not called "optimistic to a fault".
think about it...we're just assuming a title based on those words appearing in the song...but we don't even have the whole song! sad.gif
The blog that the above song list came from was dated November 2007, but the oktravel.com performance aired in October 2007...so I'd say that the title is one of the ones above. I've given this a lot of thought (sad, true): http://www.david-cook.org/index.php?showto...mp;#entry120499

So...which of the above song titles is the correct one?

BTW: according to the blog, the album title was going to be either "optimistic to a fault" or "remember this". "a second chance at a first impression" was the rejected title for "analog heart"

or maybe know where to find them?
pls help.. thanks
annie702
they're unreleased and well-guarded. i'd love to hear them, too, and hope that some of them make their way into his new album so we can get them sooner...and that he releases this one eventually.

BTW...the title for the above song is "Better Never Than Late"

Hey, I came across this thread and I don't know if anyone is still looking for these, but I got them off AI a while ago.
