i know i've heard he is difficult b4
Sarah
I kinda believe some of it...never know.
JRock
i was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt the first time i heard the rumour, not anymore. my experience in life is that when you hear something enough times from enough different sources, there is usually some truth to it.
velvetsun
Well, not surprised really. I have heard all kinds of stories about Poppa, but who knows what's true and what exagerated. i feel sorry for the kid either way. He looks terrified when Ryan asks him a question because he doesn't have daddy there to give him the answer. It's sad.
getshorty
I think we've all heard rumblings of the stage father dad. Some of it must be true, but to what extent, who knows.

Archie is a talented kid with a great voice. But his stage presence is lacking and he always looks terrified. I feel for him. This is very sad.
WordNerdsUnite
I feel bad for the kid. He has no idea how to cope in the real world without his father intervening. Good thing David Cook is going to win this year - DArchuleta would never be able to handle it.
lyndsey
i kind of believe it, some of it...
when david was singing i heard the sean kingston part, when he sang "beautiful girls", and it was the same background music as sean kingstons song, but then after he said that he continued with his original song.

although i don't really believe the part about the other contestants getting "fed up" with archuleta's dad being around...
kookyC
it's kinda hard to believe since it is TMZ but i sorta believe it bc archie's dad already has a bad reputation.

Mercy! Won't Archie and his dad just go away!!!!!! Grrr! angry.gif

believe it... i saw the article on fox

http://www.myfoxkc.com/myfox/pages/Content...ntentId=6510411

i'm thinking this is only going to hurt him in the competition... now how is he going to communicate "his" arrangements to the musicians

another interesting read here

http://www.myfoxkc.com/myfox/pages/Content...ntentId=5969019

i kinda hope he falls apart this week... just to show that his daddy was pulling his strings the whole time

don't get me wrong... i like the kid and i want him to do well... but he needs to find his spine
BethRiot
Oh I believe it.
I heard him and Archie have bad attitudes

I'm surprised that AI didn't ban Arhcie's dad sooner. I wonder how it will affect him?

I hope he won't do that good on tuesday
so he can be voted off and then David and Syesha could go to the finale
and David will win

That would be the ideal situation. smile.gif

I hesitate to type this as I'm not one to celebrate a misfortune when it benefits someone else, and I truly feel for this kid, it's such a shame. But here goes.......

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, I'm evil, you can all say it. LOL! tongue.gif

David Cook FTW! Thankfully, when David Cook wins, I don't think he'll have an asterisk by his name, ie;
David Cook, winner of American Idol Season 7* (* because Archie's father was banned from the set)

To have a dad like Jeff is Archie's biggest misfortune, that's all I can dare say.

I feel bad for him whenever people bash him for not being able to answer any of Ryan's questions fluently. But at the age of 17, shouldn't he at least learn to be more independent? I can see he's still not ready for superstardom.

And seriously? The other finalists too didn't like Jeff around them?? blink.gif

yahoo news has confirmed this morning.
thecowboycliche
I tend to believe it, but who knows.

This is why Archie shouldn't win... he can't pick a song or do an interview without consulting his dad first.

It's actually being reported by other news services now. I feel sorry for David A. As its been said before "If There's Smoke There's Fire."

To be honest
I think this is so amusing.
He won't have his daddy with him.

Good.
I'm glad.

Now he has to cry all alone if they say something wrong to him

I do feel sorry for poor little Archie. I don't think he was really ready to compete in AI this year. I think he needed a few more years of experience, growing and maturing. I've always had the impression that it was his father pushing him to compete -- I've never gotten the feeling that Archie himself has the drive and the determination to do this, that he wants to win this for HIM. Jordin, Sanjaya, Paris, Diana -- they were all 16/17 when they competed, but they each had a maturity, a drive, a direction that Archie seems to lack. He is the youngest acting 17 yr old I've ever seen. I think he's led a pretty sheltered life. He can't complete a coherent sentence. When Ryan tries to interview him, all he does is giggle, and then on results nights -- while I realize there's a lot of tension in the air for everyone -- he looks like he's going to puke at any time. Obviously there's a lot of pressure, and we've seen it get to Brooke, Jason and even David Cook, to an extent. I'm surprised Archie hasn't broken down yet.

And I understand the need for a parent to watch over and protect their child and to do what they believe is best for them, and maybe that's what Jeff Archuleta really believes he is doing. But I read somewhere, EW I think, a few weeks ago that while Archie was on stage rehearsing one of his songs, his dad was also up on stage directing things, telling the music director and vocal coach what to do. Now maybe he was just giving his "suggestions" and was just trying to guide his son in his performance. Or maybe he was being a domineering stage dad, we just don't really know.

But if Archie's dad really did have him change/add lyrics to his on-air performance after he was told by the producers not to (because of rights and clearance issues I'm sure) but he did it anyway, thus causing legal problems for AI, then that's a pretty grievous charge. I don't think it should be taken out on Archie, but the dad needs to be reined in.

Now will this negative publicity add extra pressure on Archie and affect his performance on Tuesday night? Well, I certainly don't want to wish ill will on a child or one of DC's competitors. I want DC to win AI outright, fair and square because he is the most talented singer.

But I'll feel sorry for poor little Archie when he comes in second place. It's still an accomplishment and he'll still have his recording deal, concerts, merchandising, probably some acting gigs and he'll have a successful teenybopper career. I just hope his father doesn't consider him a failure, because thinking that you are not living up to your parent's expectations is some pretty heavy baggage to carry.
zoo
Don't you just love stage parents? rolleyes.gif

Personally, I think that, unless you are mature enough to be in this contest on your own, you shouldn't be in it. I have always thought that David A didn't even seem as old and mature as his 17 years. If he had been mature enough, he would have told his dad to let him do this himself because it affects his career.

I'm curious to see how this all plays out. IMO, it is time to David A to stand on his own and grow up a little.

I've been saying it all along. I don't think Archie's mature enough to handle winning American Idol. And if he doesn't win, he's going to be absolutely fine, just like DC will be if HE doesn't win (which isn't going to happen, DC WILL win).

I hope, also, that his father doesn't view him as a failure, or that he feels like a failure on his own, just because of the way his dad has treated him his whole life. I always say, Archie is such a sweet kid and I will feel bad when he comes in 2nd, but again, he's going to be fine after this competion.

I would have banned his dad ages ago.
That guy seems like a damn shmuck to begin with, & he seems WAY too controlling over his sons career.
if I was David, I'd stand up & tell him to [blank] off.
You can fill in the blank.

hahah.
