TMZ has learned David Archuleta's dad, Jeff, has been officially banned from "American Idol."

Here's how it went down. "Idol" sources tell TMZ Jeff has been a complete pain in the ass, interfering with the entire production. He has badgered producers, the band, vocal coaches and even other contestants. The final straw came this week, when Jeff wanted to change the lyrics to David's first song, "Stand By Me." Jeff insisted on adding a verse from Sean Kingston's hit, "Beautiful Girls." Producers sent him an e-mail telling him the lyrics could not be changed. They were beyond pissed when David sang the song with Kingston's lyrics during the live show.

We're told by changing the lyrics, it created problems with the song's publisher and cost "A.I." a lot of money.

Jeff was ordered to sit with "A.I." lawyers on Wednesday, who told him he was "banned from being in the rooms where David was learning or rehearsing his songs." It's "Idol's" position, since David is 17, he does not need a guardian -- just a teacher. Jeff will be allowed to sit in the audience during the live show but he's 86'd from anything backstage.
Sources say the other contestants were fed up with Jeff and didn't want him near them. Now they have their wish.

All in all, sources say Jeff is the stage dad from hell. BTW, he was banned on the set when David did "Star Search" a few years back.

That story just confirmed what many had suspected. I hate TMZ but I do believe what they are saying.

The thing that is interesting is that is says that the other contestants did not want to be bothered by Jeff anymore either.. Now I want to know... what exactly did he to do to bother them?

I hope for Jeff's sake he DID NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE of speaking to Our David or trying to intimidate him in any way... Our David is not a mean person and would probably not cuss him out.. but um, we are something else (we are the best and most loyal fans) and I don't think Jeff would want to deal with ANY of us! Well, for everyone's sake, I am glad they banned Jeff from backstage.. he really had no business being there anyways and this is exactly what he gets for thinking little david is bigger than Idol.. one piece of advice to him.. NEVER BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU!!!!

And since he's banned from being with little david or helping him rehearse, I think it will affect him this week..I am not wishing anything bad on him, but a couple of really bad performances would be nice.. I'm just sayin..

It's kinda sad that little david is afraid of his Dad, but I am glad that the producers at Idol stood up to him.. he is going to be the reason that little david will lose.. and it's sad when he does since Jeff will probably take it out on him and not look at his own behavior ruined the whole thing! What a horrible, horrible stage Dad!

We have a slight problem though Vote for the worst has chosen archuleta which means more votes on his part...

Just means we need to vote harder!

I know we shouldn't rely on dial idol BUT Cook has benn at the top every time since the week w/ 7 idols when they did mariah carey minus the week with 5 idols but that was to close to call. we all need to vote even more because archuleta doesn't need extra votes.

VFTW hasn't really had much of an effect on the voting this season. Sleela will tell you that herself and she's right. Last year, Blake was the final victim of VFTW and he came in 2nd. The only person that lasted multiple weeks with their support was Sanjaya last year who made it all the way to 7th place. Jason was picked after Brooke left and he was eliminated the following week after her so it didn't really help him at all. I think our biggest threat honestly at this point is Syesha because no one ever dreamed she would still be in the competition at this stage. However, if the fans really rally on Tuesday to save Cookie regardless of the outcome of the performances, he'll make it into the final 2, but we must VOTE!

omg this is so hilarious I don't want to sound rude but... yeah. I'm glad. One contestant (or in this case, his dad) shouldn't sabotage others' concentration to competition. It's rough enough already.

See what I'm thinking with this is...can you imagine how embarrassing this must be for David A., enough so to cause him to do badly this week? You never know, it's hard to perform when you have other things on your mind.

I also don't beileve in the power of "tween voting" in the finals the lines are open for 3-4 hours right?

I doubt 11/12 year olds parents will let them stay up late on a "school night"

And I don't think the Tweenies have the attention span or the dedication that we do!

Exactly! This has been my thought for a few weeks now. Most of them will have to go to bed at least halfway through the voting period. ;)

I was going to say the same thing. VFTW's pick last week was Jason...and you see how well that turned out.
I know some people think this whole thing will get Archie some sympathy votes...i tend to think it might have the opposite effect.
It really all comes down to the performances.
Hopefully, Cookie will get the pimp spot this week...and will be able to blow both Archie and Syesha out of the water.

When all else fails...vote like your lives depended on it.

I kind of feel bad for Archuletta but at the same time, grow some balls man. Stop breathing like a drowning chihuahua and stand up to him.
I'd be BEYOND pissed if my dad prevented me from stealing the idol crown.
I dont think his missing dad will affect him negatively, if anything, it might calm him down. Because, i remember that he forgot his lyrics after his dad apparently excoriated him backstage. So, i think we need to be on the lookout because, apparently, Idol is playing mommy to the contestants. Archie might just relax a little bit and do something big. I'm thinking our very own DC will probably pull through for Archie too and give him some encouragement.

As for the dad, I say 100 lashes with a very stiff whip. We should tie him to a chair and throw mud pies at his Bonaduce looking ass. It seems like American Idol is left with the top 4 contestants again. David Archuletta, David Cook, Syesha and THAT BIG ASS VEIN ON THE SIDE OF ARCHIE'S DAD'S HEAD!

He sounds like an extremely pushy dad and it won't advance little David's career. He will ruin his relationship with his son in the near future if he'll continue with it

DC definitely deserves the pimp spot this week. Archie got it TWICE IN A ROW the past two weeks. I was SO angry when I found out Archie got the pimp spot on Tuesday night. Why give it to him twice??

For some reason though...I think this week, they'll have it be: Archie, DC, then Syesha.

Anyway, my take on this whole thing is that I feel really bad for Archie. He's a sweet kid, he's so adorable, and it's impossible for me to hate him, so I feel bad But, that doesn't mean I'm not going to be competitive toward him this week. I think that he just might stumble a little this week after this thing with his dad. But who knows, maybe it'll be good for him and he'll end up doing the opposite and being great (unfortunately lol).

I'm just glad that he can get away from his dad this week and MAYBE, finally do something HE wants to do.

I agree with you. I think it's kind of ridiculous that he was allowed to
be that involved in the first place. I'm sure Dave would've loved to
have one of his buddies or his brother or someone there to help him
along and do some of the legwork that he didn't have the time for.

I don't think he needed the help, but it sure seems like this gave Archie
an unfair advantage if you know where I'm going with this.

I look for him to slip up this week because he'll be afraid of dissapointing
Daddy Dearest .... not to mention he'll be flying solo and probably doesn't
know what it feels like yet.

Cookie on the other hand tends to soar when he feels like he wasn't at
his best. ABMB was the week right after Innocent.

Now I'm anxious for Tuesday ......

Like I've mentioned in another thread of the same topic, it's Archie's misfortune to have a dad like Jeff. Somehow, I have this feeling that he's there on Idol just to please his dad and is pressured to do well.

His dad should know better than to be meddlesome, cos Archie has all the help he needs to perform well. If his dad thinks he's this good, then Archie doesn't need Idol to have a singing career. Both of them can do it on their own.

On the other hand, I too feel that it's about time Archie learn to stand up on his own two feet. For crying out loud, he's 17, not 7. Also, since he's made it this far, he should be doing it for himself and not for anybody else, and that includes the tyrant of his dad.

Yeah I agree on this. He doesn't need his dad anymore. He can do this on his own. I really feel bad for Archie but please he can do this contest on his own. He can win this on his own not by the help of his dad.
