]I guess I've always been a tad lazy in regard to actually joining a website so I've simply been visiting your site the past few weeks...............................
Just a few things I had to say and if it meant I had to join your site 2 tell you all this well, SO BE IT!!!
In the past year I lost my husband of 18 years & an incredible custom home we'd built. Because I trusted my (now) ex-husband I didnt get a lawyer for our divorce and I lost EVERYTHING -My 2 teens and I are at the lowest level of poverty one could achieve. In 8 days we will be walking out of the rental we are in here in NJ and we dont have a home to go to. I am PETRIFIED- I do not think I have smiled, let alone laughed in the past 6 months.
I have used the internet for all the "proper" things I should be using it for the last few months.... Trying to find help for us-which oddly we never seem to qualify for... I have tried to look up forums for depression /anger issues, etc....Obviously I'm trying to find locate some kind of roof to put over our heads.
However, there is only one site that I've found myself not only SMILING, but on a few occasions actually LAUGHING (one was someones "Smelling Sex and Cookies" Banner--so RISQUE)
You gals and (maybe a few guys) have got to be the most CLEVER and INVENTIVE bunch of people ever brought together in one place. So many of you obviously put an incredible amount of time/effort into your amazing banners. You find links to the most amazing things-your posts are incredible..... so funny sometimes and almost always BRUTALLY HONEST!!
It is very interesting how people can come together around a common "like/love" no matter their age/sex/style, etc.
I am old enough (43) to remember having posters on my wall of Donny Osmond/Bay City Rollers/Leif Garrett/Keith Partridge/Scott Baio (LOL) High tech for me was taping the MUSIC AT THE END OF THE INCREDIBLE HULK SHOW ON MY NEW TAPE RECORDER and replaying it over and over
You gals are SO LUCKY to be growing up in a time where you can take your thoughts (literally at the very SECOND you are thinking them) and run to the internet to SHARE THEM with others.
What I can say in regards to David Cook....
I did not enjoy "whoopee" for the last 8 or 9 years of my marriage-----havent had a WLT="whoopee-like thought" in the same amount of time. However, a YOUNG MAN stepped onto the stage one day and sang the song HELLO by Lionel Richie --- (I told myself, whatever you do, do not write the ages out on paper 2 see if you are old enough to be his mother......) I havent been the same woman since.....
For at least this temporary stage of time I am back to being a love sick teen. If this old body could find a way to get revved up again well then David Cook would be behind it(oh boy).....I love to hear his voice, love to see those eyes piercing right through the camera,I find stupid little things incredibly attractive. When he does that little 1/2 smile thing I absolutely MELT!! The article link about how he makes love to the camera....well, I dont smoke but needed a cigarette afterwards.....
I have not thought things like this in SO LONG and I wont lie-it feels great just to be SWOONING....
However, what was even "neater" 2 me (lol-neater....might as well have used the word DER from the 70s!)was seeing this group of people
rally around this guy. I know that you will BEAT OUT the David A group who will stare at his dimples online while they hit redial. Yes, he sang 1 or 2 songs well but he is so LIMITED and scared to DEATH----he would probably be so relieved if someone drove him to Pizza Hut and gave him a job at the counter.
My 2 kids (16 and 13) will most likely be on the computer for the next 2 days but I'll be thinking about u guys "big time" when that shining moment comes tomorrow.
Either way, someone who worked EXTREMELY HARD WHEN NOONE CARED OR NOTICED HIM is going to get the RECOGNITION they so INCREDIBLY DESERVE!!!

Barb,
God bless you, you deserve so much better than what you have described if not just for you and the obvious gentleness and intelligence you show in such abundance in this post, then for your dear children.
I wish I could help you in some way, but I truly believe that what goes around comes around and good will happen for you.
It is so wonderful that you have been helped to laugh and feel "things" again by this website. Me, too, though my case was not as severe as yours. But I said it before and I mean it however hyper dramatic it sounds: loving all things COOK has rejuvenated my failing marriage and helped me get a new and better job, and weather many recent stresses. It is amazing what being happy can do for a person.
Please come back here whenever you can, feel free to PM me and I would love to get to know you better.

Okay, your post literally brought tears to my eyes.. all I can say is that I will lift you up in my prayers.. I hope things get easier for you.. it's never easy when you put so much trust and all of your heart into someone and then have to deal with a betrayal like you described.. it's unimagainable.. noone should have to go through that.. not you and not your children. Just keep your chin up...
Next, I'd like to welcome you to this site. It's amazing how much time I actually spend here. I can spend hours and never get bored or tired of seeing what comments and attachments people post. I'm glad you like it here and I hope you will continue to post. Reading your post, I saw so many similarities between you and I. I'm 37 and by God, I remember liking Leif Garrett/Bay City Roller (the drummer was a doll!)/Donny Osmond (I'm a little bit country.. and I'm a little bit rock n roll)... I remember having to tape record stuff off of the tv and it sounding like crap but I still rocked out to it..
I agree that todays youth has it made compared to us but then again, I'm sure our elders felt the same way about us!
Take care and come back often.. for a laugh, a smile, to shed a tear or just to lust after David.. he is so beautiful on the inside and out and all of his success couldn't happen to a nicer or more deserving person!!

Welcome Barb and thank you for proving that yes we are the greatest kind of fans anyone could ask for. I have to admit that reading your post made me cry. I feel for you and all that you and your girls are going through. I am glad that we, here at dc.org (short for orgasm) could help lift your spirits a little bit at times. It seems you have such a strong will and soul that you will make it. There is good out there for those good who deserve it. It truly is amazing that a man as young as David can do so much to and for so many and I don't think he has clue 1 what he means to each and every one of us. I mean it's so much more than just the sensual/sexual part of him we all are crazy about. I am glad you found the board and I hope that you are able to come back sometime and chat with us. Thanks so much for your post.

Hi Barb,
I'm with the others here - I'm so sorry for the situation you find yourself in. I've been in a similar place myself a couple of years ago, and, as hard as it seems right now, it will get better, I promise, and you will be so much stronger.
For the time being, the three of you can find some small happiness in enjoying some fantastic music and very cute dimples courtesy of David, and some laughs and support from the rest of us

First off Barb, I'd like to welcome you here also and with respect
to your user name, you are NEVER too old to feel that way. I'm
older than you and find all things Cookie extremely enjoyable.
He's a beautiful person inside and out. We just are exposed to the
outside more often.
Well .... sort of. LOL I love him as much
for what he brings to all of our lives. He's brought me back to the
rock music I've always loved, burt haven't related to as much lately.
I guess it's the way he's in touch with things and how he is able to
emotionally connect with us all.
As others have said, I'm really sorry to hear about your circumstances.
I know that we go through things for a reason, and in the end things do
seem to balance out. I just hope yours is much sooner than later. You
will be in my prayers. You sound like a really strong person and you've
found this group .... which is already something good, right?
I know I've gone through some tough times in the Spring of the year.
I lost my Dad suddenly about 2 years ago and it's a time that is really
hard to get through for me. Maybe because I lost my Mom at such a
young age. In any event, this group was somewhere I came to read
and to smile and to learn about an amazing person and talent. It
makes you forget about your troubles and focus on some things that
are positive and right about the world .... albeit some a bit warped!!!
I mean that in a nice way. Honest! LOL I hope I'll get the chance to know you better. You sound like a pretty
amazing person to me. We're all pulling for you to keep your chin
up and overcome things.
Big hugs and Cookie Love for you!!!
Saundra
PS - I love the last line in your post too. Okay, time for a tissue!

First of all, welcome to the forum! It's good to have you here! Secondly, I really hope that you and your family are ok! Just keep thinking positive because things are bound to get better eventually.

I agree with you about DC fans, they are the best. It's amazing how everyone comes together for their shared love of one amazing man and they soon realise that they're friends for life.
It takes a great guy to attract great fans.

New here, too...been hanging out here for quite a while--now a member...Must compliment you guys on having such an awesome website .
Have to say that before DC, I had never TEXTED anyone or DOWNLOADED any ITUNES..now I do both. I have never felt this way about a celebrity in a LONG time--there is just something about David Cook that cuts to the core.
I know in my heart, DC is going to win...he is the whole package! I could list all the reasons..but you guys already know them all.
KEEP VOTING AMERICA!! LETS GET THIS ONE RIGHT!
DAVID COOK WILL WIN AMERICAN IDOL!

Hi Barb,
First of all, your post made me cry. Coincidentally, I was watching David's performances back to back before coming here and your post was the first I read. Thus, I just started tearing.
The strength that you possess is immense. I wish you and family the best of luck.
True enough, at times, when Im down at work or at home, i will just come here and instantly feel better. The interesting and humorous posts, the tonnes of pictures of david is already enough to lift my troubles away momentarily.
It is 405am here in Singapore now and I am not asleep yet. Oh shucks. I can't sleep, waiting for the show later. Not that I am able to watch live, but to wait till voting lines are open so I can vote for David via Gizmo. In fact, I dont think I am able to watch his performances as I will be busy voting. Lol.
I hate to say this, but I might have to take sick leave later. Heh. Please dont tell my boss. hehehee.

Dear Barb, Your letter touched me.. I am way Older than you, hehe, almost 54 and I feel that same way every time I look into Davids eyes..He always seems like he needs someone to talk to and Boy Howdy am I a good Listener!
I've had so much trauma and pain in my life also. I lost my 15 yr old son, my fiancé and my father within a 8 yr time spam..I am a Breast cancer survivor, but my "Girls" didn't survive..oh I had reconstruction, but they aren't very pretty. There's much more that happened to me, but I think I've already over stepped by boundaries.
My Point??? Life is all about Today!! It's all we truly have. And we better enjoy something about it, no matter how small. My age hasn't "Killed" the woman in me [size="4"]al tho life sure has tried!!
OH..there is a tread on this site about older fans..Ya I am Ok with that and have posted there...
Also there is a special thread just for talking about tonight performances. Duh, I'm a newbie and didn't see it until I had already posted here..So let it be I say!
