Hey everyone!
I was cruising both MJ's blog and Vote for the Worst, and there is news that Luke Mernard has Inoperable Cancer. I'm not sure if anyone has truly confirmed this, but if it is true, I just wanted to send my thoughts and prayers out to his family and friends. Here's wishing him well!!!

Article with more informationHodgkin's Disease is very treatable. One of my best friends was diagnosed with it in his first year of college, and recieved radiation and treatment and it went into complete remission... and he STILL graduated on time. In stage II it's very easy to beat, and if he's agressive with treatment, he should be fine.
It's sill so scary though. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

I posted about this on the "Older Cook" fan thread. I am an RN AND from Luke's hometown, Crawfordsville, Indiana. If they are saying it is "inoperable", it most likely is NON-Hodgekins Lymphoma. That is MUCH different & much worse than Hodgekins Lymphoma. In fact, my son had a friend diagnosed with this in 2002. He was first diagnosed in Aug......he was gone by Oct. This is very typical that it starts in the chest (or mediastinum) & mimics a cold or "walking pneumonia".
PLEASE KEEP LUKE, HIS WIFE, & HIS FAMILY IN YOUR PRAYERS!!!

it was my understanding that lymphoma is very rarely ever operable. It's a cancer of the immune system, am I incorrect in that assumption? As I said before, it's very treatable with radiaton. My best friend's diagnosis was exactly the same; stage II lymphoma, and he was given a 95% chance at beating it upon first consultation.
Keep optomistic.

Luke is a friend of a friend of mine. I spoke with her last night and she confirmed that it is Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Luke was in LA when he was diagnosed and was going to attend the finale. He returned to Indianapolis to begin treatment immediately. Of all lymphoma diagnoses, this is the most treatable and curable. My thoughts and prayers are with Luke and his family.
