Ahhh Van Gogh. I saw his work in Amsterdam and as much as I am fascinated by it, his own museum does not do his work any justice. You feel like you're on a conveyor belt, being shuffled along and out as quickly as possible. It's such a shame, because the interior of the museum is architecturally beautiful.

I'm not an ART person... I take refuge in words when things get tough. I drown in Hawthorne or Shakespeare or Hardy. And if that's not enough, I put my headphones on and drown in the words of music at the same time. I often just sit, put hand to keyboard and go. Words. I survive on words. Then there's my little obsession with horror movies.

I want to go to the Old Manse in Concord, and to a few other places on the east coast of America. It'll be a miracle if I ever get there.

I've been to Chatsworth today - which was lovely, just a bit cold and rainy!

It's a big, pretty stately home in Derbyshire. If you've seen the Keira Knightly version of Pride and Prejudice it was used as Pemberley in that.

Then he was going on about some band he's in and how they got offered a record deal with some 'major' label but they said no because they didn't think the company was good enough for them! And I'd never heard of their band so couldn't be that good!
