I'm from Northern Ireland, and I'm severly physically disabled with a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy. I suggested and started the Youth Support Network within the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign with the Trailblazers, and am currently chair of the group. Also, I represent Northern Ireland regularly for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign during lobbys. Most recently, I was at Number 10 Downing Street to present a petition on the Focus on Physio report, which is part of the Building on Foundations Campaign.

I'm 18 on June 10th.

DC caught me at my most vulnerable. I was in the living room, recovering from a strong dose of IV antibiotics through my port-a-cath and coughing up blood. I'd just had a nebulizer, and was beginning to brim over with phlegm. When I had a slightly easier time breathing, AI came back into play [as always - I watch every year]. I watched 'the dude with red hair' and went to speak, ending up coughing up blood for five minutes before I said 'that guy will win'.

The guys name?

David Cook.

Honestly, my so-called 'friends' would probably pull their hair out at my moaning if I had've waited. I almost didn't want to know the result with fear. Still - I dragged mum to the computer room to dress me in my uniform while I checked, and then I cried.

My birthday is 2 days after yours smile.gif

I couldn't wait to find out as well, I had to look on Thursday morning but I watched the results show last night and it was amazing.

How are you now? I hope you're feeling better than when you first saw DC. smile.gif
xMakeMeFeelItx
CBB, lets just say I NEED CAFFINE! I've not been well this past week - ended up in casualty at 2am on Saturday morning last week. Haven't exactly been hunky dory since. Nausea coming and going, bruises from people wanting blood... I've had half a slice of corned beef to eat today, and 2 cups of tea. By this stage I've normally had something a little more substancial to eat, and I would have had at LEAST 5 cups of tea. I'm prone to Clostridium Difficile, so I'm just on the lookout at the minute.

Chest wise, it took me to Hollywood week before I was off the IV's and top 12 before I was back at school.

I do take ill often, it's not strange for me to cough up blood after the fight I had on my hands Jan/Feb/March time - there was a stage when I thought 'will I make this one?'.

The one thing that I can't drink in this world is tea!! Lol, I can't actually drink coffee either. I can't stand the taste of either.

I'm glad you did make it smile.gif

I've only just found this thread and as you can all guess from my name I am a UK Fan! I have no idea what I am going to be doing with my Thursday's now the show is over, it's sad in a way that this part of David's journey is over.
I shall be signing the petition to get David over in the UK, I'm hoping and praying he'll one day do a tour over here.

Hey, I'm from the UK too. Just read through the thread and I'm impressed you guys contemplated waiting until last night to find out the result - even if you didn't manage it! I really wanted to stay up on Weds night, but I had a uni final exam on Thurs, so thought I had better not! I did wake up at 6am on Thursday, leap out of bed and put my laptop straight on though! And then I was going to go back to bed once I'd found out, but got distracted watching youtube clips... Glad to know there are other UK fans, I don't know anyone that watched it (apart from my mum and occasionally my sister who I made watch it!)

Ha, also, I started watching the performance show on Thursday with my housemate and DC came on and she said "that guy's actually pretty good looking, isn't he?" I was just like "errr, yeah!"

Anyway, I'll stop rambling now!

Idol has given me DC and Clay.. I couldn't NOT watch it. Only problem is... I've been going MAD to get back over to the states this past three or so years, and we don't have the £15,000 to get me there to see all my friends and Clay/DC and do some fundraising while I'm there.

I love X Factor... I love watching the first auditions and then if there's someone I like, I get hooked. It's the same with AI, I only watch the auditions and then I get hooked. Like last year I was hooked on Chris Richardson and then he went so I stopped watching it, lol.

Really?! I've been moaning all day that I couldn't get it! Haaa, thanks for letting me know! biggrin.gif

CBB, nah - I'd feel too self centred if I did that, to be honest with you. The fundraising I want to do out there usually goes on at Christmas - Wrapping for Inclusion in aid of the Bubel/Aiken Foundation.

I watch all the shows.. but I only get really involved in a few. Like I'd Do Anything, we know Rachel Tucker from old so I'm REALLY involed in that. And then Idol, I liked Blake lat year, DC this year, Clay when he was on... I predicted Leon to win from his first audition, love Shayne and loved G4. Music is in me.

Yeah, I get what you mean.

So far on the X Factor, I wanted G4, Andy, Ray and Rhydian to win. As you can see I don't have much luck at all when it comes to these shows. DC is only the second person I've liked from the beginning that has gone on to win it (Will Young was the first)!

I love Shayne now though as you can probably tell by my signature, lol!

Are you watching the Eurovision? It's damn funny!

It's number 51 now which is good considering how little promotion the song has had over here.

Not too good at picking up bits out of posts, but I think more people watch AI than you may think. I go on one of the Will fans sites a lot (I notice you like Shane lol) and a lot of us have been following it every week and especially the lovely Cookster. Also there are people at my work who watch it too that I would never have thought would be into anything like this. The fact that it gets repeated so many times over the weekend helps so if you miss one you can catch the next.

And the song is definitely a grower biggrin.gif

I only know 2 people who watch AI so there's obviously a lot more out there, lol. Haa, yeah I like Shayne... but I wasn't a fan of his on X Factor, I actually wanted Andy to win. I've only become a fan of Shayne's over the last few months. I love Will though! He's actually one of the only two people I've liked from the beginning of a show that's actually won! (DC was the second!)

I reckon we should as well! It's a complete joke now anyways. I can't believe that guy won! He had someone skating around chucking his arms about... what's that all about?!

I agree about the skater, but the song wasn't too bad compared to a lot of the others. There were some crackers. I thing the Spanish entry could end up being the next birdie song.

Do you listen to radioio? Gregg the dj is lovely and plays lots of UK artists from the UK shows as well as America all over. Plays loads of Cookie. And he actually replies to your requests. Loverly guy.

Woke up this morning to find DC somehow climbed to number 45 on iTunes whilst the UK was sleeping... Hopefully it'll keep moving up!

I wasn't online yesterday so good to see there are some more UK fans out there - and welcome.

Have just bought Davids song from iTunes - had already downloaded but wanted to try and get him up the chart - still number 45 !

Agree completely re Eurovision - I used to love it for the cheesiness but now it just makes me so mad because of the politics - does anyone remember Bucks Fizz winning or is that really showing my age??? (although I was only 5 at the time!)

CBB/ Nix - thanks for advice re petition - will give it another go

Thanks smile.gif I'm just glad to find I'm not the only one in the UK who's become hooked on Cook biggrin.gif

And yeah, I had Time of My Life already too but wanted to boost his sales! I actually made an iTunes account just to buy it (which, when I told my sister got me endlessly mocked, but never mind!)

I didn't watch Eurovision this year, I, too, used to love the cheesy aspect and it was always a laugh but now it just irritates me! There's no point in the voting because we already know who each country will give their points to! LOL, I don't remember Bucks Fizz winning as I wasn't born, but I'm sure Eurovision was better back then!

We used to get some votes in the eurovision in the 'old days'!!!!

My mum and friend are also hooked - my friend only watched today and didn't know results so we've been swapping texts all morning. Have tried to get others hooked, but one friend (who is definiately old enough to know better) watched for the first time last week and asked if it was wrong to think archie very cute????

I don't know why AI doesn't get the coverage it should over here - should be on ITV 1 at very least

Am watching britains got talent at mo - love ant and dec and have a weird interest in Cowell!

I know, now we're just lucky not to get 'nil points'!

Ha, well Archie is a sweet kid, but anything more than that is a bit wrong! I think more people are going to regret not watching AI once DC becomes the global star we know he will! I know, I realise we can't vote so they don't give it the attention it maybe should get, but seeing as ITV will continuously plug anything with/by Simon Cowell, it's kinda surprising AI's on ITV2 with little/no promotion.

Last time I checked DC had climbed to number 43!

And we're never ever going to win the Eurovision... ever. We could have the best singer in the world with the best song ever and we'd still never win. Everyone seems to hate us! Ahhh well. I completely love Eurovision, I have done since I was a kid, I remember Gina G doing it! I think the last time we did well was when we came about third with Jessica someone from Pop Idol.

Last time I checked DC had climbed to number 43!

And we're never ever going to win the Eurovision... ever. We could have the best singer in the world with the best song ever and we'd still never win. Everyone seems to hate us! Ahhh well. Ooooo Aaahh just a little bit - remember it well - ha ha lol

the last time we one was with Katrina and the Waves (I think she's from the US) - maybe DC could represent us next year and we might have a shot huh.gif

Haaa, I loved that song. In fact it's on my Ipod... laugh.gif

Yeah I think she's American. We probably wouldn't win with DC either, he's American and I kinda think that's one of the reasons why people hate us because we're friends with America. Lol.

Lol, I remember that one too! Good times biggrin.gif

Hilarious, can you imagine DC in the Eurovision song contest?! We'd still probably get no votes.

DC would probably think we were all mental if we entered him for Eurovision, lol.

Lol, can you imagine his reaction to seeing all the other crazy entries? He'd wonder what was wrong with Europe!
