I'm not too hopeful about them...seems like it's just a matter of who can afford to pay the most for these tickets. Have any of you had success in the auctions?

I've heard talk of waiting till closer to the show to get seats, and as a person attending alone, I'd love to hear how that works too since tickets are so often sold in 2s or 4s.

the way that auctions go is you put in a bid (basically the highest price you are willing to pay) and then the tickets are distributed at the end with the highest bid getting the best seats and so forth

but... i wasn't aware that any of the idols shows were up for auction

oh... and yea... i've had a great sucess with the auctions before...

but i cheated a little... you are only allowed so many tickets per email address... so i bought the max with like 4 different email addys and then i resold the tix on ebay... made small profit on each ticket and end up paying for my own seats plus profit. wink.gif this was for a coldplay concert in dc

So they are doing the auctions! LOL, I just emailed them the other day and they said they had no knowledge of that this year. The good thing about these is, they are for some of the best seats in the house. The bad thing is, you do have to be willing to pay top dollar for the tickets.
Season five, I was determined to go. I had this NEED to see Chris and the others, lol. It took me three cities, but I finally ended up with fourth row for about $125 each... which is a YIKES until you're sitting there. It was amazing, and I may just have to try it again.
And as far as single seats, I was looking around and was finding some pretty darn good ones for sale on ticketmaster even now. It all depends on the venue, so I keep checking back. And I know of at least one place around here that ends up releasing tons of the best seats on the day of the show.
