I live in Kentucky and the show ended at 9 p.m. and the phone lines closed at 1 a.m. I drank lots and lots of coffee. I had a bunch of friends voting as well. We all took a different line and voted our collective butts off. The phone lines where busy till 1 a.m. Four hours of voting and total lack of sleep. Got back up a 5:30 a.m. to go to work. It will all be worth it tonite when DC takes the title of American Idol.

Our group of 12 , worked our thumbs raw from 8:55 PM until 1 AM when the lines closed , we reminisced about David Cook's journey for about 2 more hours and then we crashed as most of us had to be at work or class early this morning.
It will all be worth it tonight !
Is it 8 PM yet ?????

I did! I wish I was able to get more votes in then I did. I had to deal with that annoying busy signal. (Although now that i think about it, if it was busy, that's a good thing!) I did vote for four hours.

I voted for 7 hours and 9 minutes. Group of 3 of us with multiple phones started to get through at 8:51 pm ET, and I have a houseguest with a CA mobile phone, so I/we stayed up to vote West Coast, too! That hour overlap between East Coast ending and West Coast starting was madness -- I was manning four phones at that point!
No sleep for me! But it's all for a good cause!

I did. I am pretty tired today, but I voted like there would be no tomorrow. I think I got in over 1000 texts for sure, and at least 300 land line votes, but there were a lot of busy signals. I just kept flip-flopping between the lines, until it would ring through.
I want to say that I was very inspired by everyone on here, and though I was sitting up by myself in my living room, I never felt alone or lonely in my toil.

YES! I have never voted so hard, either!! I had cell phone in left hand and land line in right hand. All four hours nonstop. I stayed off the boards so I could devote every second to voting. Gosh, my fingers were really cramping when it was over and I am exhausted today! Didn't sleep much and I kept hearing the busy signal in my head when I was trying to sleep! Although the lines were busy the entire 4 hrs, I am confident I still got in a lot of votes for our

I voted for 4 hours straight!!! I had my cell phone in one hand and I took my mom's phone from her and voted with her cell phone in my other hand, lol.
Has anyone noticed that you can get in way more times on a cell than on a land line?

May 21 2008, 07:11 AM
4 straight hours for me.
The first 90 minutes was spent dialing the numbers on my cellphone, as I was frantically trying to get internet access, plus setting-up of Gizmo. When that was done, I switched to voting via Gizmo. But from time to time, whenever it baled on me, I turned back to my cellphone and redialed the numbers.
After 4 hours, when all 3 lines went dead, mission was accomplished, with my cellphone on the brink of a flat battery.
Though I didn't really count properly, the number of votes sent in was approximately 2,000 - with 25% of them via Gizmo, and 75% via cellphone.
Okay, enough said from me. I think I may have bored too many people here who are reading my post.

May 21 2008, 07:15 AM
I started at 8:59pm EST and stopped when Gizmo stopped working at around 2:15am or something. Between texting, Gizmo and calling I voted around 700-800 times which is a big deal for me.

May 21 2008, 07:26 AM
I voted for the full four hours. I was so annoyed at Simon's comments that I dragged our other land line in from the kitchen to the computer room with a cord extension and used two land lines and texted on my go phone. I had only planned to go with one land line + text. The phone lines were busier in Illinois than in the past but I still got quite a few votes in on the land lines. Thank god I had made a lot of draft messages ahead for text. I was getting text sending busy messages part of the time but got a lot of resends to go through, too.
This outed me to my husband who previously didn't know I voted like a fiend in weeks past but DCFTW!
Afterwards I did pre-orders for Cook's 3 videos from last light to remind AI who has been their golden goose on Itunes has been all season.
Now it is in the producers hands and I don't totally trust them.

May 21 2008, 07:33 AM
All 4 hours. I don't know if this was the producers plan all along to get me fired up, but fired up I was. I was glued to this chair the entire time with two phones and only got up twice....once to get my cell charger and the other to grab a phone that still had a charge. My husband used another line we have the entire 4 hours. My daughter had to work, but got about 2 hours in after she got home on her cellphone. Fingers crossed it is enough. I am in agreement, though.....not sure I trust TPTB on that show anymore.

I started voting for David Cook at 10pm and voted on all 3 phone lines until 1am on the California side (3 hours straight). I totally disagreed with the judges this week on David Cook's performances, so I gave David Cook 1,000+ plus votes last night on all 3 phone lines. Christina

I yawned during my test and he looked at me strange and asked why i was tired at 6 in the morning and I just laughed and said I stayed up late (would be bad to say i pulled an all niter i thought) voting for american idol. he laughed and said his teen daughter stayed up voting for DC as well til 1 and went late to school this morning!

I voted for the entire 4 hrs. 10 minutes with one land line and one cell phone. I switched to two cell phones later in the night (wish I'd done that a LOT earlier) and the cell phones re-dialed a lot faster than the land line once I was able to get through on most calls. I got over 1,100 votes in during the 4 hours, but probably would have gotten an additional 500-800 votes in just in the last hour had I been using just the two cell phones. Well, live and learn. Hope it was enough! DC for the win!

All four hours, Go Phone in one hand, cell phone in the other. Locked myself in my room at 9 p.m. and got down to business. It turned out my Go Phone would only send texts to 10 recipients at a time, but I programmed all 10 contacts to "5701" and got it down to a science.
I could send the word "vote" to all 10 recipients with about 30 seconds of thumb action, then make calls on my cell phone with the other hand while the first five text votes were going through. Then I reloaded the text votes, hit "Send," and made more calls on my cell for the five-vote window.
There was never a point in the four-hour time window during which my Go Phone was not voting, and I got about 100 cell votes through with my left hand, despite the fact that all three of Cookie's lines were busy as HELL for the whole four hours (they were also busy when I made a test call at 3 a.m. just to see, because I couldn't sleep).
Guesstimating somewhere between 1,000-1,100 votes total, with a voting operation of two very cramped and aching hands, but hey. The last full measure of devotion, right?
P.S. I HATED what Simon said, but I feel like it got every single Cook fan in the country, from every possible demographic, to the phone like an effing ARMY. People who never would have sent in more than one or two votes at most, or who liked him but might not have voted at all, were voting their fingers raw all night in rage. I think Simon might have done it deliberately and will make up for it tonight when Cook gets the confetti, but he will have a LOT of making up to do. A LOT.
