Do let me know how it goes, yeah? smile.gif

If it's a no deal, this ticket will be waiting for you. No conditions or obligations whatsoever - it's for you to have.

Me too - I just heard the interview.

But that might change if there're lots of demands for him to perform in other cities. We've gonna start clamouring for David to come down to Singapore as well! blink.gif

In the meantime, time for me to start planning my trip to Manila! tongue.gif tongue.gif

Wow.. thanks so much Seth, I'll definitely let you know. Hopefully that girl will get back to me by this weekend. biggrin.gif

Yes, Singaporean Cookies, WE NEED TO LET DAVID KNOW HOW MUCH WE WANT HIM HERE! Someone find his address, let's write him lots of letters, let his management know that he HAS to come here. Let them know how well his songs have been doing on the charts here, how people are line dancing to Billie Jean, and even people who have never watched AI know that David Cook did the ABMB cover on the radio. (in fact, I have a funny story about this - read * below)

Yea, let's plan our trip to Manila. Anyone knows when we'll get details about that Philippines gig? Let's all go together!! haha.. I was checking flight prices this afternoon - we can probably get return tix to Manila for around 400-500 bucks per person. Dunno if there'll be promotions coming up anot, Natas fair is coming up. haha..

*A colleague asked me who the guy on my desktop was, and I told her it was David Cook. She gave me a blank look, so I proceeded to show her some of his performances on AI. She watched Hello, Billie Jean and ABMB. After ABMB she said.. "eh this is the song that's been playing on the radio. That guy who sings this song, yeah, I've heard it before.. Really good!!" And I gave her this look and said "That's the same guy!! That's David Cook, he came up with the arrangements himself!" and she was awed! (She just thought he was performing the radio guy's version. laugh.gif sleep.gif*

Thanks Seth for offering your extra ticket, but yeah I'm not that keen on any of the artists at this year's awards. Thanks tho, and good memory man for remembering the 2002 awards!

Can you guys believe that David's been booked for the Philippines? I'm still in shock. laugh.gif And this is really fast too. I'm so used to waiting ages for any big acts to come close to where we are and now its THE DAVID COOK!

Sign me up for that mass trip to the Philippines! Thank goodness we are hearing this ahead of time so there's time to prepare.

I think there's a possibility he might make other stops here in Asia. I have some ideas of how to "make some noise" so to speak .. haha .. on how to make it known that there is a demand for David here. I wanna run some of these ideas by you guys and see what you think. First I was thinking that maybe we could email the radio stations here about this Philippines gig, give them a headsup and maybe the DJ's will mention this on air, generate more interest. Contact Sony BMG Singapore and ask about the possibility of David coming here for possible gigs, interviews. Can you imagine an MTV Asia interview/show with David? Eeek! I haven't contacted anyone yet, wanted to know what you guys think first about this.. good idea or no?

Just a note tho, if contacting anyone about David, be respectful and don't irritate or harass cos we don't want to alienate anyone in the media.

I was also thinking that we need a wristband that is uniquely Singaporean. What's more identifiable as a David accessory than a rubber wristband! tongue.gif We've all seen the gajillion wristbands he uses. Even pre-idol, it was his thing. I was thinking that the wristband for Singapore could be red with the words "SINGAPORE FOR COOK" in white. National colours anyone? laugh.gif A bit cheesy BUT I think red would be a colour that stands out well. And we can toss out ideas as to what words should go on there.

Alright, those are my ideas so far. Let me know what you guys think. I was planning an early night tonight but look at the Cook news that just came out! Once again David's responsible for my not getting any sleep! laugh.gif

haha yeah yesterday was such a good day to be a Cook fan! ahaha we had so much news, about the record, abt him coming to the Philippines, about his producer (omg i love MCR I am so geeked beyond belief that they are having the guy who did black parade do DC's new record!) I can totally understand you not getting any sleep.

I think the wristbands thing are a great idea. I have no idea how to make/order those wristbands, but if anyone here have any idea.. Maybe we can use it as part of Seth's Sport Your Support campaign as well? It'll be a great way to identify Sgporean Cookie fans. haha.. and if we can get one to him as well, I'm sure he'd love it. laugh.gif

And I'm gonna try draft something to Sony BMG or MTV Asia now. haha.. Who's the concert promoter who's bringing in Daughtry? Maybe we can contact them too?
xXe_future_starXx
i don't know about the wristbands and where i could get it...but i could help in making dc tshirts 'cuz i know of this shop that makes shirts and i went there with my friends to make our class tee..
so anyone in on this shirt thing?so that i could start designing the tee and give it to the seller..

and if it's on then i would like your wordnerd no. and title if you have any..or maybe what you would like to be called as...so that i could put it in the tee...and of course, your shirt size..and it will be your own unique tee..cookie-related!!
then we would decide on the colour of the shirt..

but i will only give it to the seller on november...after my olevels...if that's ok with you guys...and probably i would ask the seller whether she makes wristbands or not...if she does then i would do the 'singapore for cook' bracelet..

about the money and stuff like that we would decide about it later, yar?
maybe you guys could pay it to me during the sport your support event or something..

so is anyone in on this?
if you are then post your wn no/title/anything that you want to be called as..
then i will design something and post it here.. if you are agreeable then you will be getting your tees in about 4-5 months time..kk...let me know, yar?...

oh and about the singfest and mtv awards asia, i couldn't make it...i need to do my preliminary exams...dang it..
so wish me luck!!
Jesscookie
I know! he is going to PHILIPPINES!

and then I will be so crushed that I still won't be able to see him even though he will finally be in the same time zone.

this is very upsetting!

and therefore, please sign me up for the trip to Manila! lol

this thread seems dead during the week....
so im bumping it to keep it alive...hehe

Heh. My apologies for having neglected this thread for quite a while already, as I was too busy at work, and at the same time, being too distracted by other threads here.

So far, the ideas pitched in sound pretty good. Keep 'em coming in! I'll then try to evaluate them by next week. smile.gif

hey, was just wondering if anything happened to the CookFansSG ACS page... I tried clicking on the link you sent to my email earlier Seth, but I'm just directed to a general ACS page. Thought of making a donation, but I cant find the right page now. I remembered the original link mentioned how much has been collected by the Spore team.

Anyway, I read on the Newark thread that we (team singapore) are doing quite well on the donation collecting part and that has inspired me to contribute as well! laugh.gif Now can someone direct me to the right page? haha thanks!

It HAS been quiet here, how's everyone doing? I'm actually checking the tour threads nowadays just to look out for the MAVID dances. Those two are freakin' hilarious.
xXe_future_starXx
im stressed out by the overloading tests and exams and pressures by teachers....
gahh....OLEVELS IN LESS THAN 3 MONTHS' TIME!!!!
so im sorry ifi cannot be here all the time hehe...
but just know that i will still be a cook fan at heart...lol wink.gif
missymarsie
omg i feel like such a spaz. just realised that the link is in seth's signature. laugh.gif i feel so dumb now, so pls ignore my previous post. blink.gif

how am i supposed to concentrate at work when i keep wanting to check on here for the latest mavidance? have you guys seen the latest one yet? I found a link from mjsbigblog..

MAVIDANCE IN NEWARK

seriously, these two will be the death of me.
Cookey's Fan
Heh. Sorry, my bad for not informing earlier.

The American Cancer Society donation pages had moved to a new technical environment, hence the need for me to update the URLs for Team Singapore's page. smile.gif With that, I'm pleased to say that we have raised $1,157 for the ACS, and that we're in 2nd placing, with Team New Jersey (headed by Annette) at the top.

On a different note, we can say this time and again ... that the Mavid bromance totally rocks? tongue.gif They never seem to run out of cute ideas on how to spice up the group performance, which is a good thing.

I hope they can continue to keep in touch with each other when all these is over. smile.gif
blue_sky78
I'm positive David and MJ will keep in touch. David seems to be the type that keeps his friends close and he and MJ are very tight. Very cool to have their Mavid bits to look forward to at each tour stop. These guys are HILARIOUS! laugh.gif

Seth, I wanted to ask about the ACS Team Singapore page. Is that in US dollars? If we donate, will it also be in US dollars? And the proceeds go to the AMERICAN Cancer Society right (not anything SG related here)?

For the record, can I just say WOW that you're in second place considering this is in honour of David on the AI tour and the tour isn't even coming here!

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. Singaporeans are awesome. and check this out from the davidcookai7 lj. We're just behind the Philippines in terms of the country which googles david cook the most. I say this is reason enough for cookie to make his way here. laugh.gif

Yes, the figures shown are in US dollars. When donated, it will also be in US dollars. The amount reflected on your bill will be in Singapore dollars, after currency conversions.

The proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. I'll still looking to see if some of these can also go to the Singapore Cancer Society right here. smile.gif

Lolxx...another Torres fans...have you heard the Torres song? My friend has been singning it almost everyday.
Just yesterday we saw a guy wearing a basketball jersey number 9 and my friend got all psyched and hyper. But then when the guy turn around and look at her...his plaqued, crooked teeth were blinding her eyes while his oily skin was glinting in the morning sun.

The Symphony...yea i get that alot in class too. My class only has 5 boys and has two foreign exchange students from Vietnam...Here's a brief descrip about both of them:
Vo Chi Trung
age:16
HOtt...has rosy cheeks like Torres and has pale skin like Cookie, Nose like Torres and smiles like David Archuleta...a mixture of odd bits but all so matched together.

Huy
age:16
Cute...okaes okaes one.
Very gentleman!

Both of them are 2 years older than me n he rest of the class.

Well, there is this guy in class, name Zoel...he has a reeeely bad voice...n he murders Cookie's Time Of my Life...
Hmph..todae, i flipped upon last weeks Digital Life and saw Cookie's face in top ten songs
His TOML was number two...and there was one of his pictures there...this brightened up my day, id sae.

And oh, thanks to all who have sent in donations to ACS' Team Singapore. Thanks to that, we've raised more than $10,000 ... and the summer tour hasn't even ended.

For me, I'm dead serious about going. smile.gif

For those who are going, please remember to have a $1,000 budget, which means saving about $250 per month. At least, that's the budget I'm going for, and all these include airfare, accomodations and most importantly, VIP-quality tickets.

Yeah I'm serious too. Seth, maybe we should plan together for all the Sgporean Cookies who wanna go. Maybe that way we can get the best deals or smtg, and we can share information as well. I'm sure none of us wanna go on our own. biggrin.gif I was thinking we could liase (sp?) with someone on the Philippines side so that we are constantly up to date with the situation over there as well (concert venue, best place to stay etc etc)

Nothing is impossible, Evelyn. Just save whatever much you can.

The thousand-dollar budget is just a rough estimation, if VIP seats were to be included. It would cost relatively lesser if it's normal seats. smile.gif
blue_sky78

Count me in on the trip to Manila. You know what? I'd never have planned a trip of my own to Manila, as in it wasn't necessarily a place I wanted to go to laugh.gif but hey if DC's gonna be there, that's a HECK of a lot closer than the States so I'm gonna be there. $1000 IS steep but Seth's right, that's a bit on the high end, its just to be safe. Collect angpow and Hari Raya money! wink.gif I also agree that we should go together, safer that way and we'd be amongst friends in a foreign place where we'd be bound to get lost! Or at least, I know I would get lost, not so good with directions over here! laugh.gif

I think maybe when its closer to the date and when more details are revealed, we can ask for help from the Pinoy fans, someone to help out the Singapore contingent! HAHA! Sounds like an olympic team coming in! laugh.gif

One more thing, I REALLY do not think that its a far fetched idea that David might hit the neighbouring Asian countries, including us, where he is clearly popular. I think its a strong possibility but we probably would have to wait till closer to the single/album release when there would be LOTS and LOTS of media coverage and promotion and to see how well the album sells here. If there's enough of a buzz, who knows, it could be a possibility. Makes sense to hit the neighbouring countries since he's ALREADY going to be in the region.

Btw, Jan 29 will be over the Chinese New Year holidays? Does anyone have the public holiday dates for January 2009? Cos its not easy for me to get leave from my work also, even more so when its Chinese New Year, cos then preference would go to the Chinese staff.

Seth, glad you had a good time at the MTV Asia Awards. I didn't even remember to catch that on TV! *smacks forhead* I do remember the one I went to that was in Singapore in '02. FUN but omg tiring!! Stood for SOOOOO long but still a fun experience. Congrats on ACS Singapore doing so well. I'm sure David will get to hear about all of this.

When I told my mom that DC was gonna be in the Philippines and I wanted to go, she said 'you're crazy'. laugh.gif Don't think I am able to save even $200 a month, so I'll have to assess the situation as we get more details. Yeap I've sent my msg to her already. But now that I think about it, I feel like rewording my letter or smtg. So many things I forgot to include. sad.gif

I'm not sure if 1.4k is enough to warrant a mention from Cookie, since he did mention that there was a group from Blue Springs which raised like MUCH MUCH more. (I cant remember the exact amount, think it was somewhere around 20k wassit?) I also can't remember (my memory's seriously failing me isn't it? tongue.gif ) where I saw the interview, I only remember I saw it recently.

But no matter, jiayou us Singaporeans! I just checked the ACS page again today and we're at 1.4 k now. *woohoo*

Dad: Are you crazy ?? Why the Phils all of a sudden ? I thought you don't wanna go to Manila
(He wanted to take us to Manila in July, but my Mum and I shot the idea down, we wanted to go to Hong Kong to catch the sale..lol)
Me: Ummm..
Dad: What? *starts getting over-protective* You have an online boyfriend there ?? What Widya ??
(that's my real name btw, and the only online friend I know from the Phils is pinkmango)
**nudges to Seth** laugh.gif
Me: NOO ! omg what the..No, there's gonna be a concert for David Cook..
Dad: Huh? Who? (Forgive him, he doesn't watch "commercial-tv")
Me: The American Idol ! *rolls eyes* You know, the voice you've been hearing from my bed/bathroom..
Dad: Ohh..that's the American Idol ? he's good...but..
NO! The Philippines is dangerous right now (something about protests or something)

Anyway, are the protest there dangerous ? Or if you guys don't know, do you have any ideas how to persuade my dad ? laugh.gif
