No, the reason was because THEY were SURE that the writer of the original David vs David article (Rubez Wong) is a fan of David and as the writer of the letter, SHERYL - WHOEVER YOU ARE..DELISIONAL GIRL said that Archie 'won' because his single is PLATINUM and that Cook only lead Archie in album sales by 100,000...***and that the article wasn't fair....that's why tons of them sent hatemail..and then that letter that got published was an 'apology' because of what the other members did..
The weird thing is she wants to clear things up that the old article got wrong, in fact the article was pretty much spot on. Unlike Archie, David never talked about his brother on the show until the media found it out themselves...The Archie fan said that Cook also had a 'sob story' and it's not Archie's fault that the AI show talked about his vocal paralysis. DUH! OF COURSE THEY WOULD TALK ABOUT IT. His voice is like nasaly and unclear and not clean.
And you know, the writer of the new article, Jack/Jake/whoever is like patronising the Archies..basically saying there's no point to send the magazine hatemail because the Davids love each other and etc. lol
***100,000 my ***! David is going to sell 900,000 this week and Archie is still 550,000 somethin...CAN'T YOU COUNT, GIRL?!
STUPID PEOPLE -rant not over yet, but I dont want to scare people..hahaha.
Had to bud in.
Cook's sales counting what HDD had today is approximately 891,919. Of all the artists on Billboard Top 50,
he was the only one who had a +58% increase in sales. He went from #19 to #10 (having
never been below top 20 to #10 which should hold when the final numbers come through). Archuleta
having 1 more week of sales than Cook has sold approximately 597,591 with a slight increase from last week but no % change raising him from #53 to #50. Cook sold (
with one week less sales than Archuleta) 294.4K more than Archuleta. Archuleta debuted only against one other person--Taylor Swift being a far distant 2nd place, selling 417K less than #1 and only 24K more than #3. David Cook debuted against new releases by Beyonce and Nickelback and selling only 37K less than #2. He also beat out Taylor Swift by 74K who was 4th.
If David Archuleta had debuted the same week as David Cook--based on that week's album sales, he would have debuted #5 rather than #2 the week before. On the 2nd week of Archuleta's sales, he dropped out of top 10 to #11, then to #18, then to #19, then to #21, then to #22 and kept dropping until last week he dropped out of Billboard top 50 to #53 while cook was #19 on that same week.
If HDD actual sales sales remain close to final numbers, Cook should be back in #10 as he is more than 3,000 sales higher than #11.
The record speaks for itself. In addition, Cook is gaining for radio play while Archuleta is dropping. The indication or validation of that is that Jive decided to release Archie's 2nd single to generate more interest in the album. Do I think it's going to work--no. His 2nd single is not much different than his 1st and it entered the chart at #73. For all intents and purposes, if you heard
Crush then
A Little Too Not Over You sounds the same. Crush was his big hit just like Jordin Sparks "No Air" but that I attribute more to Chris Brown than to Jordin.
Album sales is what matters to the artist and to the record label. You have to sell 10x more singles to reach 1 album sale. Jive pushes singles, RCA pushes albums.
In this very tough market, Cook's sales, as a newcomer and with the "A.I. tag" is quite impressive. His fanbase is expanding outside of A.I. and consists of both male and female and they have quite a spread in age demographics. Yes, he has "cougars" but cougars were bred on rock music and "cougars" have money to buy albums, download songs, and go to concerts.
David Archuleta's fanbase consists mostly of tweens and teens and unless their parents buy them the album (which for Archuleta they did that already) for the most part young people tend to get songs for free from various sources. As do college-age kids who never have any money. College kids will spend money to go to concerts though as that's part of the college experience.
If I was a teen I would never have liked Archuleta. I found him boring. In addition, he looks and acts more like 13 so if I was a tween--I might have liked him but even then, I wouldn't go for the stuff he sang during A.I. and I still would have found him boring and old-fashioned and frankly very childish. He's got a decent voice, but nothing I would like to listen to.
If David Archuleta was 25 during A.I. singing the same songs, he probably wouldn't have gotten to top 10 and possibly not even that. He got there because he's "awe shucks--I'm a kid and I can sing" more than anything else.
The "rabid-archies" are just stupid and immature and hate Cook because he won. I am sure though that there are many Archuleta fans who aren't like those "rabid" archie fans but what we hear and see are the vocal "rabid" fans.
They seek out anything and everything about Cook and register on these sites just to leave nasty comments. They think that people will think that's what the general public thinks, thereby, hoping to discourage people to buy Cook's albums. They think people don't see through them.
