He always says a shocker about the show at some point in time. It's the way to get us to watch.

Forgive me for being cynical but hasn't there been a 'shocker' most weeks according to Nigel!!! You could argue that either one of the Davids winning could be a 'shocker' (DC based on last nights judges comments, or DA based on DCs strong performances throughout) so its a pretty meaningless comment other than, as velvetsun says, a ploy to increase viewers

Well, to quote DC...we'll see.

Last year on the So You Think You Can Dance finale he also made up some crap about him and Cat Deeley (the host) doing a dance routine together... built up the viewship for finale night, then at the end of the show they showed a STUPID computer animation clip with Nigel and Cat's heads on the fake bodies dancing to a mexican hat dance song... UGH...

I don't think Nigel can speak in public without uttering those words. I think the only way I would be shocked is if he didn't say them. We'll see...

i didn't listen to this part of the radio show so i could be completely wrong in saying this...but maybe he meant a "shocker" as in a celebrity performance. i heard george michael is appearing, so maybe that could be it? either way, i agree that he is trying to draw in viewers.

I agree with you guys....it's all about getting viewers. I think he could be implying DC is the winner b/c of the judges raving over little David last night....but on the other hand, he could be implying that Dial Idol is wrong (gosh, I really wanted to avoid looking at Dial Idol...even started a post about it, but it has been unavoidable last night and today. Much thanks to all who respected my request to keep results hidden and not placed in topic line. LOVE YOU! but I saw it through the discussion thread. Oh well - I needed the support of all you guys to get through last night and today!!!)

Nigel wants to make sure we all watch- and of course we will, since we do not want to miss seeing Our David claim his title.. so of course, he has to say that there is going to be "a shocker...."

SIMON: ""Actually.. I DO have something to say.... to David Cook.... DAAAAAAAAAVID, I just watched last nights show again, and I have to say that I was very critical of you and I have to take back what I said .. it was not a knockout for Archie at all.. I have to say that he was very strong last night, but looking back, he was just so- robotic and predictable- and you were so genuine and unpredictable and THAT is what I was looking for and that is WHY you WILL win this competition.. singers like Archie are a dime a dozen..

RANDY: "Dawg, what are trying to say- I think..."

SIMON: "Excuse me Raaaaaaaaaandy.. but I was talking and we KNOW what you think and I think America is tired of hearing what YOU think and I think they actually got the vote right this year.... so please let me finish what I was saying and then you can have your say... so Ryan, back to you and Mr. Cook... I believe that singers like Archie are easy to come by, excellent voice.. but not much else to fall back on.... YOU on the other hand have a remarkable voice AND an incredible stage presence and that is what I admire about you..... and I want to say that I am sorry I was so harsh on you and I want to be the first to congratulate you on winning the competition this year.." and then he points to Randy.... and now I believe that Randy would like to have his say.."

I have been being blackmailed by Jeff Archuleta to make sure that he wins and to say what he has told me to say.. I am not proud of this fact, but it's true.... So, David Cook I am truly sorry to you for everything.. I put you in the middle of this and I put you down and said horrible things to you and it was not your fault at all.. I am hopeful that you can forgive me for this.. and I am sorry to everyone for lying this whole season.. and as for Jeff.. I guess that means you can expose my secret now.... since I can no longer live with the guilt..." the camera cuts to Jeff Archuleta who is getting up to leave...

Simon: "And just where do you think YOU are going sir? You have a lot of explaining to do... what do you have to say for yourself?"

Jeff: "Cram it Cowell.. you guys know my little david is better than this raggedy rock star wannabe you are trying to push down our throats.. and who are you to try to take my gravy train away from me... Randy got what was coming to him and watch it Cowell.. or you're next.."

little david: "Did you just call me a ... gravy train.. so that's what this whole thing has been about?? getting paid for what I do, and not actually believing in me?"

Jeff: "Look kid, that $100K you won on Star Search wasn't going to last forever, ok... we have to get paid while you're still a cute kid, since face it.. you aren't going to be much to look at in a few years..."

little david breaks down on stage and begins sobbing hysterically.... and then Our David rushes in to save the day..

Our David: "Jeff, your son is one of the finest people I have ever met and he deserves respect and if you aren't going to give it to him.. I WILL!" (and with that.. he goes over and helps little david up off the floor..) "Arch, it doesn't matter which one of us is declared the winner..... I just know that I don't want to compete against you anymore.. I don't hate you.. I am glad we met and I want to be your friend.. so I think we should just get out of here.. what do you say to that?"

Jeff rushes up and tries to grab Our David and then little david jumps between them and KNOCKS JEFF OUT COLD!!

little david: "That was for me, and for David and for Simon and for Randy.. you had no right to do this to them and to me.. your ride on my gravy train is OVER.. we are out of here.. David, do you think your mom would mind if I went home with you?"

Our David: "Mom, what do you think? Do you got room for another David in the house?"

Mom: "Sure, but first I have one question.. where did you learn to punch like that and can you teach MY David that move? I must say that it was very impressive..."

little david: "I didn't know I had it in me.."

Our David: "Arch, you have a lot of strength inside of you.. and I think it's time we worked on that.."

Mom: "Um, boys.. can we get out of here now since EVERYONE is staring at us... come on David... come on Archie, let's go home.."

Ryan: "But Mom, what about the results... don't you want to know the winner?"

BOTH DAVIDS: "NO!" (and they both begin laughing....)

Our David: "We don't want to know.. just call it a draw this season and say that the best men won, and leave it at that.."

little david: "'Did you just call me a man?"

Our David: "Well, that punch you gave your dad just layed him out cold.. so yeah, I guess you could could say you're a man now.. but hey now take it easy.. don't try to go all hard core on me yet.. we gotta ease you into it, ok?"

little david: "So, I guess this means.. we're like family now.. so can I call you DC?"

Our David: " Sure, Arch.. that's cool with me.."

Simon motions for them to come over the judges table....

Simon: "BOYS..... I must say I am very impressed by what you both just did.. and look at you.. Mr. Archuleta.. that was nice work back there.. and as for you Mr. Cook.... extends his hand out and then they shake hands.... I wish you the best of luck with your career and I am assuming you can take care of Archie for me from here?"

Our David: "HA, I think that we are both going to take care of each from now on... but it sure won't be the same without you giving us your opinion every week.."

Simon: "HA, I have your cell numbers.. and I will we giving you both a call every now and then to check in and to give you my opinion on what you're doing.... I mean I can't let my co-winners get away from me that easily, now can I- you know I will be watching you both very carefully from now on.."

BOTH DAVIDS: "MOM.. can we go now, Simon's scaring us!"

Mom glares at Simon...

Mom: "SIMON.."

Simon: "Wow, she has that look down perfectly.. I think I will just leave you boys in her very capable hands... but just call if you need me... "

Ryan: "Well, America there you have it.... there is no one winner this season, both there is one GIANT loser.. camera closes in on Jeff being hauled off my security... Thanks for watching American Idol!"

Yes, Nigel does tend to talk out of both ends. He's mentioned the word shocker so many times this season it hasn't even been funny! I heard the radio show and shocker really wasn't mentioned in reference to who the winner was. It was about some big guest celebrity that was supposed to be making an appearance tonight unless I heard him wrong and yes, Nigel loves to create drama. He thrives on it.

Davidschic, this is hilarious! and I agree that at some point tonight, somewhere in the show, Simon is going to say something about having reviewed the performances again, he thinks he may have been too harsh on DC. Yes, it is bound to happen. He won't want to be entirely wrong. LOL!

davidschic, you must be like Paula and can see the future cause you called it. I think we all wanted an apology but thought we wouldn't get it, and yet, there Simon was apologizing to David and saying a lot of things we wanted him to recant from last night. Awesomeness!
