Full Version: I've Found What I'm Looking For
David Cook > David Cook > During American Idol

I rewatched the performance video of DC singing, "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For." Everyone is talking about TWIK, but I'm telling you that if DC had closed out the night with that song, there's no doubt that no one would be sitting around on pins and needles today. Despite obvious exhaustion, his voice a little raspy and hoarse (ALW mentioned it in his mentoring session,) David gave the performance of his life on that joint. At one point the camera behind and above him as he stands on the platform behind the judges table lets you see what he sees as he sings to the fans in the audience. It gives me chills to watch it.

No matter what happens tonight, seeing David Cook, the bartender from KC who loves music so much that he "would sing to 5 people", rock a house of screaming fans singing (and nailing) U2, has got to be one of the great IDOL moments of all time.

He could have played it safe last night. But not DavidC. If he was gonna' go down, he was gonna' go down rockin' hard and baring his soul to his fans. Screw the judges if they prefer "perfect" ballads to rock. That's not DC's problem -- and today we know that his fans love him for not letting it stop him.

Rock On! David Cook. You are a real American Idol.
