I have not been this heavily invested in an idol contestant since Elliott Yamin of Season 5.
I was drawn to David Cook immediately when I saw him audition in Omaha and he sang "Livin' on a Prayer"...seriously, I got goosebumps. I said a rocker with a great voice, I can buy that, so I told my cousins that I already have a favorite
Ever since the start, I have invested myself in him and exposed myself to my friends and family members that he's my favorite and I would definitely buy his album. They're all archuleta fans, by the way, except for one.
After the Top 2 performance show, well what can I say... The judges showered archuleta with praises (which actually I dont get coz I thought "The World I Know" was David Cook's crowning glory). My friends who are archuleta fans naturally were so elated. but IMHO I really don't buy the whole ballad thing anymore, it just seems so passe. But how can I argue, I was outnumbered...
I just think David Cooks is a genuine guy...what you see is what you get. Besides having an awesome voice and amazing talent, he doesn't compromise if he feels strongly about something...and they have paid off. And for the record, I don't buy the whole "being arrogant" thing, and I felt he was vindicated last night when Simon said he was one of the nicest and most sincere contestant they've ever had.
So we come to the results night. I am nervous but a little optimistic. When Ryan said at the beginning of the show that the votes weren't as close as what people would have expected, I kinda thought that there was a huge possibility that David Cook would win. (I don't think Ryan would have said that if Archuleta was the winner). So when David Cook's name was called, I felt like a winner...
That's why I say that his victory is my victory... Thanks to this board and thanks to David Cook. So who's laughing now??? hahaha
