Carly would surely be in the top-2 if she hadn't sung that song.But, in fact, when she sang it, it was so great!!!Honestly, her performance could outsmart the performances of the davids in the finale.hehe.

I agree...I thought it was one of her better performances! The two that got robbed this year were Carly and Michael Johns...they should have stayed longer than Brooke and Syesha...still I think the battle of the David's would have happened but I think Carly or Michael should have been in the top three!

That was one of Carly's best performances, in fact it was probably her best. If she had sung another song, she would probably still have gone. Don't get me wrong I love Carly Smithson (and Michael Johns) but I think the right 2 were in the final.

You just can't sing that song out of context and not come across as flippant and disrespectful. After all, it was JUDAS singing that song in the musical!! I knew she was gone once she sang that, even though she sang it well.

carly was good in which i think brooke or jason shoulda gone before her, it's just that we havent had a twos guys clay vs. reuben but that's my thought! but i think she'll do well and believe everyone was not fond of her tattoo and her tattooed husband, just so u know my mother's always said cut your hair, pierce your body but do not get a tattoo! you all know jordin sparks song tattoo? your stuck to me just like a tattoo? hopefully you people will understand but let me just say if u are gonna get a tattoo please put where no one can see it! well sorry for bein a nag and a marge simpson!lol! in away i dont know!

Carly's "Superstar" was one of the better performances. Sadly, AI is really a popularity contest. Carly didn't have the same big fanbase as Brooke and Jason.

"Superstar" is a very difficult song. I've seen theater actors who had a hard time performing it in Jesus Christ Superstar (musical). Carly did it effortlessly.

DC, Archie, MJ and Carly are my top 4 (in that order).

Syesha is a very versatile all around performer. I really liked her. But she seems forgettable. She sounds like combined Beyonce and Riahnna.

I love Carly when she did Blackbird. So heartfelt and moving.

Hated to see her and MJ go early on the game.

Remember during the Finale when Ryan introduced Carly and MJ? "Shocking departures are definitely a staple in AI. And these two performers CERTAINLY LEFT BEFORE THEIR TIME."

I don't think it had anything to do with Carly having tattoos, not at all. A lot of people have tattoos nowadays, it's not like it's a rare thing anymore so it's not frowned upon and rightly so because it's down to personal choice.



I agree with the fan base thing, I think even though Carly is very very likable (I adore her to pieces, I think she's amazing) I think that Jason and Brooke have a bigger likability factor - especially Brooke.

If the tattoos are done properly, they don't fade. My grandad has tattoos and they haven't faded at all.

You can't generalise and say that people with little kids were turned off because you don't everyone that watched the show. Lol.

The entire topic of tattoos was beat to death on the AI boards. People either like them or not.

The conversations wound up where posters started insulting each other going back and forth on both sides of the argument (to have them or not have them). And that's not even considering all the insulting things that the people who hate tattoos and people who have them said about Carly and her family. What's the purpose? Why go there?

I just popped in on the thread because I really liked Carly and then saw this post possibly going in that direction. That's just my view.... if anyone judged Carly on the basis of her tattoo it would be like judging someone on the color of their skin or religion (or lack of). The discussion of that is just bound to start arguments IMO. Hate to see it here.

I wasn't going down the road of an argument by the way, I was just voicing my opinion just like the other person was. And I agree with what you said about judging Carly on the basis of her tattoos.

well think about goin into a tattoo parlor and bein stuck with dirty needles and havin that liquid pumped into u that's what i dont like em! remember ur stuck to me just like a tattoo! meanin you'll get never rid of em!

*sigh* it's your own prerogative to get a tattoo or not. don't judge people with the choices they made especially if it's with their own bodies. they have to live with it, not you. and i think tattoos are wonderful works of art if done right.

i just saw this performance earlier (they're showing an AI marathon today woohoo!) and i have to say this was Carly's best performance. I love the musical, i adore it and she definitely sang this song with conviction and her voice was phenomenal. I loved every bit of it.

she was voted off because her fanbase wasn't as strong. the girl has talent, no questions about that. I was a little turned off because of the hype she got going into the top 24 but she has proven to be very talented and her voice is amazing. i hated that jason and brooke stayed longer than she did. but AI is about votes, not about who has the better voice.

i bet we're watching the AI7 marathon again at the same time.

didn't hear about that hype about Carly going into the Top 24. Is that about her MCA recording before AI7? David Cook in Lary King Live, fearlessly defended Carly and all the unfound artists/contestants who have made recordings one way or another before AI.

^^ yup. i have to admit i got carried away by the negative press and i wasn't impressed with her in the top 24 performance too. but bit by bit i have discovered how great she is as a singer and i have looked forward to her performances.

Michael Johns' was upsetting. Carly's was annoying, you're right.

I expected Carly to stay at least until the final 3. But I expected MJ to last longer as well.
