Just curious ---I started watching the finale about 40 min. behind so I wouldnt have to fret through the commercials.

END OF RECORDING!!!

I scrambled to set my comcast box up to tape the next show but of course after 40 min. of commercials I was only a few minutes behind the live spot and then could see by Davids teary face that he'd won. Of course, I got to see the replay tons of times since but I was like "you've got to be kidding." You get yourself so psyched for that last couple of minutes to have to go like that!!! LOL..

Anyway, I did learn a valuable lesson. Any time a show is really important, make sure to tape the program after it JUST IN CASE.

Did anyone else have this happen with Tivo or cable boxes or was everyone watching it LIVE and/or am I the only dimwit that did not plan ahead for this calamnity!!

but the show did run over time so thats why it cut off Tivo always does that
thats why we watched it live , because that would stink to see it get cut off

I watched it live as it aired! I didn't wanna miss a thing (yep, mind wanders back to last weeks performance. SIGH) so I pretty much stayed glued to the tv from 8pm to 10:04pm.

oh man that happened to me as well, I was so upset. so i quickly just came on the forums and downloaded the videos and then i watched the re-runs.

I hate when television does that. I should take your advice for next time tape the show right after!!!

A lot of people have been complaining about that. We always had our DVR set to record about 10 minutes following a recorded program to catch any time run-over, so I don't think ours missed it. Haven't rewatched it yet, so I'm not sure. But we watched it live - I just couldn't miss the pivotal moment of victory!

yeah, ive heard that happened to a lot of people. i watched it live. but just as ryan opened that envelope our stupid phone rang so i had to pause it and wait an extra 3 minutes. worst 3 minutes of my life i swear.

I watched it live, but I have had problems like that before with the Tivo and it really frustrated me because it was a show I wanted to watch and I missed the ending of it.

My Tivo did the same thing. I was so mad but what I did was I tivo'd the show after so I have the end. I just have to go to the next show right after

Yep, and I have mine set to always go 2 minutes extra! Luckily, DVR's will often jump back a few minutes, so by the time I realized it wasn't recording, I hit the button and picked it up again. So, lucky for me I have a separate 10 minute little video of David winning and singing the finale song. Yeah! So to watch him be crowned, I don't have to forward through 2 hours of other stuff. I have watched that little snippet so many times today, I can hardly believe that it's over now!

I couldnt believe the timing of the whole thing. When I walked to the TV I thought well, we'll see the news and hopefully theyre talking of something else--if not we'll look away real quick...

But no, theres David crying so I just started mouthing words that were "oh, so, not feminine." We ran to the computer to see if utube was showing the final video so we could see Ryan finish his sentence....winner is AAAAAAHHHHHH............................

What a release though-I'll never tire of watching them read that result to him-NEVER!

Mine did the same thing. My husband tried to surprise me by upgrading our HD receiver to the DVR one while I was at work yesterday and set it to record the 2 hour show. I tried to warn him that the finale often runs late and that he should set it to record the show after it as well, but he didn't.

Wouldn't you know it, the DVR ends with; and this year's winner is......................................

I almost died.

I can't believe you found that! I swear, I think I woke up my entire household watching the replay last night. I'm almost at the point where I can laugh at it after watching the vid you just posted. The other half of me is still in shock at the timing

Gosh, I'm lucky. I watched live and when I noticed it was about to run over I set the DVR to tape the news after the show, so I could watch again. I didn't have to post on the board and warn everyone b/c it was just a minute before 9 and the announcement was about to happen.

I watched it live and set my DVR to record the show after AI, so I don't have anything to complain about, but when I watched it back later, I have Ryan saying 'the winner is...' then the screen goes black and asks me if I want to keep or delete the recording.

My DVR stopped right after they announced it..so at least I got to see that much. I was watching it live at the time so as soon as the recording stopped I switched over to live Fox so I could watch him sing "Time of My Life".

If I had waited until today to watch (which I was never going to do, but still..) then I would have missed the performance and the tears and all the exciting stuff.

I'm glad I watched live..haha..I started 20 minutes after it began but caught up so I'm thankful for that.
