I've been having trouble loading this website for a couple of days now...and figure that I'm not alone because some peoples posts are showing up multiple times as if they were hitting "post" waiting to load.
Have we reached server capacity, or is it my internet connection? I'm not having problems with other sites.
thanks.

Same here. Having lots of trouble loading, and it seems isolated to this site. I'm OK on AI boards, The Tube, etc. Seems to have started sometime around last Thursday. Pages just hang and hang for minutes while loading or replying.
Is it us or the site?

I have been having problems too! And like others, it's only with this site because other websites open up quickly for me. So, it's not my internet. Maybe it is server capacity? Travis, I am noticing a slow load when it's afternoon/evening in my time zone (Italy), more so in the evening.

Iam having the exact same problem...it ran fine before and then the day after DC won the site took like 20 minutes to open and then 20 min to get to a post so i gave up! I had to come to my parents computer the past couple of days. I thought it wasstrange cause it went from working to not! I even tried deleting a lot of things from my computer like cookies and temporary internet files but no luck!

I haven't had problems for a few days now...it was mainly after the finale, so it probably had to do with server capacity. I noticed that if it takes a while to load, all I have to do is stop and refresh and it will pick up where I left off.

I thought it might be the server too so i tried my laptop just now at my parents house and it is still loading (since 9:21) and still hasn't loaded yet. I used to be able just to refresh, but now that doesn't even work. This is strange!

I'm having the same problem too. My friend cannot enter the site coz of the hanging problem.

Yeah, ever since last Wednesday night, I've had the half-page load and hanging problem. Takes minutes for the pages to come to life. Over the weekend, I scoured my temp files and dumped my cache. Can't figure it out. But it's definitely isolated to this site for me.
Travis, any thoughts on whether it could be configurations? I'm running Vista with IE 7.0.6.
I'm hanging in there (no pun intended) - it's not like I'm going to abandon the site because of this, but it can be tough sometimes. I'm going to dig into my system more this weekend to see what I can do to improve it. It's only great for me in the wee hours East Coast time for some reason.
Edit: Hey, Travis! Bingo! It's the phishing filter in the above config. If I turn it off (default setting on my laptop), I am AOK. prob b/c the boards are updating so frequently, the filter can't catch up. Turning off the default seems to have fixed the site issues for me (at least for now).

The only thing I can think of is after the finale I added the streaming single at the top of the page. I'll remove that...let me know if that changed it...

OK, turned the phishing filter back on, restarted my browser and tried it. Site's pretty zippy for me now, too. I can work it either way (filter off w/single; filter on w/o single) - I'm pretty comf either way.
Does this mean we lose DC singing to us each time we come here?
Might want to ask others to try and see if their probs improve.
The single did operate strangely for me. Never loaded until after I replied. Odd . . .
Thanks for the quick action there, travis! You rock!

I was wondering where the player for the single went? Now I know! Honestly, for me, it made no difference having the player there. I was playing it yesterday while surfing through the site and everything was fine. My problems happened more so during the first few days after the finale. I will chalk it up to an influx of visitors and the server couldn't handle the load. Thankfully, everything is running smoothly now. :::Keeps fingers crossed:::

Travis,
My name is Jessica aka armychick34. I just wanted to take a moment to let you and your other administrators know that I LOVE this site and hope that it will continue to be just as thrilling in years to come as it is today. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS FORUM!!!!
That being said, is it possible (or a proprietary issue

) to have some of
Analog Heart on the Media Player? I was just curious. I wouldn't want David to be cheated out of any ownership or anything like that, I'm just so enchanted by his music and lyrics that I want more.
Thanks from the bottom of my heart!
Blessed be,
Jessica

I am also having problems. It just loads the top portion of the page and now it takes about 5 minutes to load the rest of the page. I'm on a T1 at work, so I can't imagine how long it is for everyone else.

I've been having issues with the site loading both at work and at home. For the most part the page will either freeze the loading process directly below the image with DC leaning on the TV, or after the "CookBot" post. Usually refreshing fixes the problem, but load times are still quite slow.
I've also been attacked by pop ups recently {I haven't before, but now I get several, plus a warning from my pop-up blocker telling me it's blocked some}. Anyone else having this problem?
Sorry to be the squeeky wheel,

I've been having the same problem - I thought it was just me - but now I know that it's not, I guess I feel a bit better about it. It takes forever to roam through the boards, but I guess it's worth it!

yeah sorry, i actually deal with it too...it's actually just ONE ADVERTISEMENT that if it's loaded, it takes a while, so just refresh the site if the page doesn't load after 5 seconds...that means that one ad is trying to load...but i can't remove just that one ad.
so if it ever takes more than 5-10 seconds, just refresh...because the server the site is on is fast, it's just that one advertisement.
