...be nice and polite guys when you request the song. be timely in requesting and don't annoy the DJs. shower them with good words and don't get mad at them. if we piss them off, that could hurt David and might stain the reputation of the fanbase. the Claymates got a bad rep with radio stations before and the radio stations refused to play Clay's songs, we can't let that happen to David.

Just because I put down Mix 93.3 earlier in this thread, there's no reason for it not to be on this list. They do play his music - I've not heard the single, but I have heard three or four of the live AI performances, and the ABMB studio version. I highly doubt 97.3 would play David's music; they've not been the Planet for a while now. They tried out ESPN Radio, and now it is K-Love, a Christian music station (like the city needed a fourth radio station like that - diversify, people!).

Actually, that first listing - for Radio 104 - is technically incorrect. They changed formats a few years ago, only to switch back to alternative and rock within the last 6 or so months. So, they're actually now:

I don't really know that they'd play his single, though. They're more old-school alternative... like your early-to-mid 90's stuff. They have been playing some more recent stuff lately, so it is worth a try.

WTIC is probably the better bet to get some airplay.

Thought I would pop in to give a little update on DC's radio progress:
I will list his airplay status on current Mediabase charts:

These are the only types of stations that I would check on for this song. His songs from his album will have a broader reach. But he is not doing badly at all, considering it is an AI coronation song, and those things have a hard time getting decent airplay. I am particularly impressed by his rank on AC.
For comparison, last year Jordin's numbers on the same stations were #74, #47, #80
So, he is doing better with his coronation song than she did, and quickly. This is a good sign. If a station in your area is already playing him, call them up to request and say thanks. If not, one or two requests wouldn't hurt. But, don't push too hard on this song; wait for the album for the big push. And, trust me, AI NEEDS Cookie to be successful. They have had two seasons in a row with lackluster winners as far as albums sales. He will be pushed big time. But we will be here to help when needed.

Just a quick explanation of what the thread is about because this forum is sooo busy, it's taking ages for pages to load up.
Anyway it's about an internet radio station based in Jacksonville, Florida and the website is www.radioio.com but it's this one http://www.radioio.com/channels/idols one where you will find is always playing David tracks, I suggest you check it out and perhaps you can drop Gregg the DJ a line and request one of your fave Cookie tracks.

This is a very good point. This is one of the things that we were talking about on mj's blog on Friday night. mj basically said to let Idol or 19 do the promoting for him. She didn't say don't request at all, but don't let what happened to the Claymates, Blake, and even Taylor happen to Cookie. One of the posters there also said to save your energy for the first single from the CD too. Oh, and stick to stations within your local listening area too. We were also told that DJ's do not like getting calls from listeners outside of a station's listening area either. That is another big no no and it will certainly rub them the wrong way! I've seen similar campaigns like this mounted to help Blake, and it has backfired big time. We don't want to do anything to hurt Cookie now seeing how well this song seems to be doing at this point.

As Cali said over Idolbored, He will get more promotion to radio than a 2nd place finisher would have gotten and basically he really doesn't need a street team. In fact, "Time Of My Life" is doing better than Ace's song "Addicted if this tells you anything.

I don't think it matters too much, but in case any Tulsans are confused, Tulsa ROCK KMOD is 97.5, not 102.3. I believe 102.3 is the Christian station, but you'll never know, maybe they're playing David Cook too. *Shrugs*

And, I found out The EDGE KMYZ 104.5 (http://www.edgetulsa.com) played David's single once. But I don't know if it's on their playlist. I believe the DJ that played it was a friend of David's and he just wanted to promote his buddy.

Have you tried the request line, 1-800-STAR-987? You might also want to try requesting the song at 102.7 KIIS-FM (Ryan Seacrest's day job), KOST 103.5 FM, and 104.3 My FM.

For the last few days, I've been hitting up every local radio station here in Massachusetts and haven't gotten ANY response about getting David's new single played on the radio. While I'm here at work, I tend to listen to my iPod but today I decided to live stream a local radio station out of Boston and sent them an email requesting his song.

The radio DJ replied with this:

Have you guys been requesting the song and if so, any responses back from the stations? Out of the 5 I've tried, this was the only one to respond.

Thanks for letting me know that I can try requesting the song on Q102. i don't understand why other stations aren't playing Time of my Life. Maybe because it isn't hip hop.

I said this before, but give the stations time to get this song. The song didn't start getting airplay until last Friday. mj had told us on her blog last week to try to refrain from calling several different stations too. This song is only being played on Top 40 stations. That is what Mediabase is showing. Some may or may not want to believe this, but I believe RCA is promoting this song. Another thing we have to remember too is that this is the winning song and not the first single from his album. This song has sort of beaten the odds so far against especially Jordin's single last year in terms of sales and airplay. I would strongly advise fans to stick to requesting at their own stations. I said this last night and it's true. IdolBored tried this tactic with Blake and and it backfired big time. I know we all want to support David and I'm all for that but I don't want to do something that will end up causing him not to get airplay by the time his real first single rolls around. That's the song you really want to save your energy to push without being too pushy with the DJ's because they aren't the ones who make the decisions in what gets played. The decisions are made by mostly the program directors (their bosses). Remember, David is the winner and not the runner up, he will get more promotion. Just give the label a chance.

I loved Travis' initial first post in this thread because it pretty much said what I just stated with this post, but it's all true. You have to be so careful not to tick these DJ's off or they will treat David like he's a big joke and won't take the requests seriously. That is exactly what is happening with Blake now.

Playing on AC stations in Mobile, AL (100.7 the most).........NOT YET on Top 40 stations.....DJ said Tuesday evening on phone with me that station hadn't received copy of single yet.......... ????

Singapore (all the way in asia) radio station has the song

I called this station and they aren't playing his song. When I said David Cook, the DJ asked, "Who??" and I said he just won American Idol; he laughed at me and in a Dracula style accent he said, "We don't do the Amercian Idol stuff here" Laughed at me again and told me to try KRQ. I didn't act belligerent to him or anything. So...they'll see when his CD comes out..they'll see

I'm still trying to get a hold of KRQ but I haven't heard anything from them yet.

Um...ya gotta look at the stations format. That station is Classic Rock. You know...like Led Zep and The Eagles and Hendrix. NOT his market and as Pam pointed out going all fangirl and not bothering to research the station is just going to piss off the DJ's

So here I am at work, calling in a bill payment on the corporate credit card, get put on Hold, and GUESS WHAT'S PLAYING - - there he is, Time of My Life. They came back on the line and I could hardly speak. Dangerous!! I said they just made the rest of the day. So now I'm smiling and everyone's wondering what my problem is.
