Well I know i will probably get slammed for saying it, & i realize he asked her to dinner on tv...but come on now. Who he chooses to have a dinner date with doesn't have anything to do with his music, his career, etc. Which is what i hope we can focus on here.

This may not be a popular opinion, but I stand by it. And considering how happy everyone should be today...i really think we have better things to discuss.

we weren't discussing his personal life... we were discussing the dinner date HE TALKED ABOUT ON NATIONAL TELEVISION. Didn't think that was off limits. Jeez, relax.

He DID ask her to dinner live on TV, so its not like there is any speculation as to whether or not he asked her. That we know. (And for the record, in the moment, it was cute. That's where I leave it.)
And this thread is actually being DECENT about the whole thing. What I think we should stay away from is putting personal opinions in as to who he dates and things like that. There was at least one thread that got locked up fast because people got very catty and started trashing her. I don't know enough about her (or David, for that matter) to feel that I can analyze anything about the situation. I'll leave that to the tabloids... Lord knows he's been in them enough already, and now with the title, the scrutiny of his private life will only intensify. They'll start linking him to every female who is photographed with him. They'll start dredging up anything from his past they can find, from all kinds of un-named sources or people that spoke to him once. The beauty of being a freshly minted celebrity... life in a fishbowl. I trust that we will treat him a lot better than that, in spite of the fact that most of us don't know him any better than the tabloid writers. We're the ones that care enough to be here, right? Our first job was to get him the AI title. We succeeded. Our new job is to be here to support him in his music career and other professional endeavours... and to just be happy for him in general.
I am beyond thrilled that less than 24 hours ago every dream he had career-wise was put on the road to coming true. (Hell, I still haven't entirely come down from the high of Wednesday night.) I just hate the trade-off that comes with it.
(And by posting this, I am not singling anyone out. Its just my thought on the whole basic idea of the privacy thing, and its been quite a day of seeing a lot of personal attacks and putdowns...)

It really rubbed me the wrong way she did it too. I mean, he values his privacy and she is quite literally rubbing the fans noses in the date. She was supposed to be talking to David Hernandez, I didn't know that interviewing David Hernandez meant talking about her date with David (which, from what I could tell, hadn't happened by the time of the interview, but I have no clue).

Keep it private, and don't try to egg people on or rub noses in it. Sheesh.
The one thing I heard her say about it (and purely because it gave the impression she's a gold digger- whether she is or not I don't know) was something like "as long as he can pick up the check I'm good."
That just sounded really rude, and I hope that isn't what she is really like.
Ugh, I have allowed myself to nearly be dragged into this whole thing.
Its not my bag. At all.

i thought it showed a lot of guts on his part to ask her out on live tv. i wish guys would be as brave as he was, not afraid of rejection and confident enough to ask a girl to dinner right out.
