Ok so I have to ask...Why?, Because I am curious, curious like a cat...that's why my friends call me whiskers...

Anyway, I wanted to know how many of you out there have gotten a "David Cook Tattoo"? Meaning how many of you have gone out and gotten the same tattoos he has or one that is inspired by David Cook? If you have one of these tattoos...I would love to see pictures if any of you Word Nerds out there have David Cook tattoos! And I mean real ones with needle and ink...not fake washable ones!!

I would honestly love to get some "anaglog heart" lyrics.
its just a matter of when and where!
I have a tattoo already so maybe i could somehow incorperate it with that one but once i get it designed
i just have to figure out the placement!!!

I hope someone out there will have some tats about DC or lyrics or something.
It's sweet to get inspiration for someone elses tattoo(s)!

I don't have a DC tattoo as such - although I did buy a special bead for my Pandora bracelet.

But I get his tatts - I have four and my last one is kanji that means younger brother.

My little brother was my only brother and he died 10 years ago this year. I put it on my foot so he always walks with me. Sounds corny but I love it and I love my brother.

(Love ya Geoff)

I'd actually like to get some of the lyrics from "The Truth" tattooed somewhere, along with "DC" or something. I don't have any tattoos, but I want one, so why not that?

I don't have a David-specific tattoo, but he and I seem to be on a similar wavelength tattoo-wise.

I already have a cancer ribbon tattoo (to remind me of my own (so far) successful battle). David did inspire me to get it touched up and enhanced recently. I have the date of my first clean pathology results opposite the ribbon (tough to explain, but the two tattoos form a 'matching set' when you put them together).

Two years ago, I got some OLP lyrics on my back (*not* my lower back). (And they're from "Innocent" - is that a coincidence or what?) And one more in honor of my brother's kids.

My only advice to those of you who don't have tattoos yet but are thinking about getting them . . . . is just make sure that they mean something personally to you.

And enjoy the journey - it gets very addictive very quickly!

I'm with ya on the addiction thing. I got my first one 20 years ago when not many girls really had tattoos. I still only have four, but already I am wanting another another one, two, three etc etc.

But i totally agree - it really has to be something you want.

Not all tattoos have to have special meaning, sometimes you get one just because you want it - no other reason.

Just make sure there are no regrets because tattoos are not kind to regrets.

Glad to hear you are doing well..You gotta love those clean pathology tests. My Dad has just finished chemo for bowel cancer - But he is cool now.

I have this... it's a lyric from a David Cook original "Straight Ahead", BUT I was getting the words "...just breathe..." tattooed on my arm anyway. I just added the extra words because I liked them. This phrase has a personal meaning for me, which I won't get into on a message board, and really doesn't have anything to do with David other than I am borrowing his lyric.

I have been contemplating my next tattoo and it's definitely going to have something to do with DC.. I'm thinking the heart he has on his chest.. I want one on my right leg.. especially after the interview I saw last night with what the heart stands for.. too cute!!

By the way, WordNerdsUnite, that tattoo ROCKS that you have.. I love it!

I have been wanting another tattoo. I would love to get something DC related. I just need some time to come up with something meaningful for me.

David's first CD, Analog Heart, won Best Indie Record in Tulsa, OK and the newspapers there called him the "New Tulsa Heartthrob" and all his friends made fun of him, so he said it was a way to acknowledge the event, but mostly to honor his friends and the jokes they made smile.gif

He said that when he lived in Tulsa and put out his album, that he won an award for best independant album (I think it was.. when he talks, my brain doesn't function all that well!).. in a newspaper article, they called him Tulsa's newest "heart throb" and apparently his friends gave him alot of shit about it so he got that tattoo kind of making fun of himself too.. He's just so freaking awesome!

I don't have any tattoos currently but I've been thinking about getting one and if I do I'd love it to be the cover art from Analog Heart.
That and the tattoo that the Winchester Bros. have from Supernatural.

On August 1, my eighteenth birthday, I will be getting my first tattoo.

It is going to be a cerebral palsy ribbon on my ankle, with the lyrics from "Truth is a Gun," underneath, "I'm driven by fear."

I can't wait. It has extreme meaning to me, so I am very excited.

I agree that tattoos indeed can be extremely addicting! I just got my fourth tattoo a couple weeks ago and the more you get the more addicting it can become! I still can't wait to see all the David Cook inspired tattoos people get!

David has a grey cancer ribbon in the middle of his chest and his brother's intitials, AC, done in fancy script on the inside of his left bicep.

I have two tattoos and am planning on getting another this summer. I have a red rose on my shoulder and on my ankle a yellow rose piercing a heart with blood dripping from it.

I for one like the Analog Heart logo. I think I have found my 50th birthday tattoo!! (and my 5th one overall)

I have 1 tattoo on my hip (a picture of the comedy/tragedy theater masks with a g-clef intertwined) and love it. It represents my love of the theater and the love and the level of music that I've been brought to (actually inspired by Josh Groban, originally, but I suppose it can have DC meaning too). That's the joy about having a g-clef on me - its universal. smile.gif

I hope to get #2 later this year, but don't think it'll have anything to do with DC.

I have 6 tattoo's but would never get a DC one, or a band or musician one actually. Lyrics I totally get, but I just wouldn't get the band name or logo!
I have a treble clef on my back and am thinking about extending it, but I think rather than lyrics I'll actually put notation, like the first two bars of one of my fave songs...that way it's personal!

Have I lost my mind, or has others began wondering if it would be a good idea to get a tattoo that matches David's.

As someone who has 4 tattoos and is currently working on a 5th, I can only say: be wise & be sure.

Since you asked for opinions, your tats should be something that really mean something to you since you will probably have them forever more. You might be comfortable with the meaning as "art of the moment" or as a personal long-term commitment/statement. Everyone is different, and only you can determine what fits that category. Which one are you thinking of 'matching' and, maybe ask yourself, why?

I waited 15 years before I got my first one, and I *desperately* wanted one. My barrier: making sure that every single piece I choose is something that I'd be AOK with in my 80s when I'm saggy. wink.gif

Good luck, whatever you decide is right for you.

I'm referring to the "heart throb" tat. I actually have one already that slightly resembles it. I was thinking about maybe just adding too it a bit to make it more like Cook's.
I'm not talking about going as drastic as putting his name on my body. biggrin.gif But when I'm 80 I will probably still be in love with him so I think it might be worth the risk!

Thanks for the advice!

Amen. I have 4 and there are approx. 3 more I will get between now and whenever I am finally planted. I think long and hard on placement, meanings, and art work. Tattoos are personal story told via art work that is permanent and somewhat painful. In early tribes tattoos were part of a right of passage that meant something.

I strongly suggest you step back and let the obsession cool down. Those tattoos mean something very special to David. It would honor him more to find something original that means something to you.

Oh! Enhancing an existing tat is *way* diff than an entirely new tat to match DC, imo. Tell your hub that makes you less crazy. wink.gif

Well-said, Starrlight. Sage advice. A cooling off period would definitely be a good idea.

Over in the People thread, someone mentioned NKOTB. I was OBSESSED with NKOTB in the late 80s (before they broke nationally), and that was what I wanted as my first tat. (Second idea was Winnie the Pooh) Thankfully, when I asked myself if it would still be meaningful, appropriate and OK with me at 80 years old and sagging (and to have to explain it to children and grandchildren), I came up with "no". Can you *imagine* if I had actually gone through with it?! (Now, my OLP lyrics are a totally different story . . . and I thought about those for years before I got those done.)

In the end, it is a personal decision, and you really have to remember that they're fairly permanent. Make the best decision for you. Just be a bit judicious in this decision, maybe.

OMG, NKOTB lyrics? That would have made for one hell of a story at the nursing home tongue.gif Lyrics are risky, for sure which is why I still have not had mine done. I figure 2 years of wanting them and then I will pull the trigger. Which OLP lyrics?

LOL! See?! This is what I'm saying! NKOTB . . . so right 'in the moment' for 1989. Not so much in 2008 and definitely not in 2050! Awkward nursing home convo, for sure.

OLP lyrics = 4 lines from Innocent. Like David, a song that just always resonated with me. When I was diagnosed with cancer, they just became even more meaningful. Kinda helped me through the roughest patch, and my tat is now like my badge of honor/working-my-way-toward triumph:

And while she wishes she was a dancer
And that she'd never heard of cancer
She wishes God would give her some answers
And make her feel beautiful.

I have them straddling my spine vertically. Solid black, serif ital font. My tat guy did a great job (and is happy that I'm finally getting off the overtly cancer-themed tats! smile.gif Was with him today talking about my fifth one!)

Definitely have to think through each one, especially anything 'trendy' like pop culture and music. Keep thinkin' on it Starrlight.

BLake and starlight thanks for all your advice. i've been thinking about getting one but i haven't had an idea that would be good enough to suffer through the pain. i watch the show miami ink a lot and i've come to think of tats as works of art and i'm glad that the show really educates people on how to choose tats, where to put them, colors and stuff.

my bf just asked me today where i'd want my tat if i could get one. been thinking about it for years now and i've decided i only wanna do it if chris garver does it for me biggrin.gif
