Just dropping in to say Hi to everyone. I'm proud to be a Cougar who supported Cookie by voting her fingers off. I just found this place the other day, and love it! Hi to my fellow Cougars, as well as everyone else. It's great to be able to enjoy David's talents with so many!

I suppose I fall into the cougar catagory. lol I have been a fan of Cookies since the VERY beginning. I think about him waaaay too much! Does he have ANY idea what he's doing to us?! I have rewatched his performances over & over & over......& I still can't get enough of him. I voted the entire 4 hours for him too. (never did that for anyone else) I'm looking forward to seeing him on Larry King tonight.
wordnerd # 17 (that's seventeen!!!!! I told you I was hooked from the very beginning!)

Yet another Cougar for Cook here, and I think about him way too much too. The good news is that I can confess my obsession to my husband. He thinks it's great. Hey, in a Jamie Lynn Spears world, DC is young enough to be my son, but I don't let that stop me. Wheeee!

Same here! I just joined today but have been hooked on DC since the beginning. Voted my fingers off as well. Growing up listening to Steven Tyler, et al. I thought we would never see the day when someone could have the same potential. I am so happy DC came into our musical lives and saved us! He is such an old soul, isn't he? That also may be why we Cougars love him so much.

Hi--I'm also a Cougar from PA new to the site...I have not been this obsessed with anyone...EVER....not even as a teenager!! I think DC is a breath of fresh air in the music seen...I am tired of the lack of intelligence in today's youth (not all of them), but especially the musicians and actors. I agree that he is an old soul...and I was thinking also that's why we all are so enthralled with him.

I think I fell for him when he said he was a Word Nerd....I love to listen to him talk! He could "talk the phonebook" as Randy said 80 million times, and I'd love it!

Does anyone know where to register as a Word Nerd? I keep seeing people referencing a number but I don't know what it is or where to get a number.

Thanks for letting me obsess!!!

Proud cougar here! I've like guys older and younger-its not the age, its the guy-who he is. David knows who he is and is completley comfortable with that. His quiet confidence is very sexy.

Has anyone noticed how we "Cougars for Cookie" fit a kind of mold? (no pun intended!lol) Most of us have the same avatar, most of us haven't "crushed" in years, most of us LOVE his boyhood charm ( well, ladies, in our books, he IS a boy! DUH!) just seems kinda strange to me... We should compare notes as to what kind of teens we were...i.e.,greasers?,dupers?,locals?,hippies?,and what our favorite crushes were "back in the day" Might be fun... I was a greaser ( black hair, heavy eyeliner really really long ratted hair, black leather jacket, the whole nine yards) had a million boyfriends who wore wife beaters and drove convertibles... and you?...........

I was definatly a nerd/dork. Good student but shy and pretty much invisible-which was ok with me-I'm an observer by nature. I was the girl with glasses who always had some book under her arm. I came more out of my shell in college but was probably still one of the studious ones laugh.gif I've always been attracted to intelligent, confindent men and married one as a matter of fact(who is also a soldier btw). Crushes throughout the years have included Peter Jennings, Robert Palmer, Nicolas Massu and more currently Gerard Butler-David is the newest addititon. tongue.gif

I am guessing I fall into this category as well! Luckily, my husband is "understanding" about my new obession. LOL

I was an original flower child, beaded headbands, bell-bottom jeans, fringed jackets, the whole bit. I attended
a Rolling Stones concert back in 1969 when they were playing at the college gymnasium in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Warm-up act was B.B. King. Was that ever a concert! Back before the giant stadium concert days. I didn't get
to go to Woodstock, but many of the friends I made that first semester at college had been there. Haven't crushed
on anyone since those days!

I guess that makes me a cougar too laugh.gif - I'm 42, and a HUGE David fan....I LOVE him!!!!

I guess I'm a word nerd too - but my area is more medical words. I spend my entire workday - sometimes upward of 12 hours a day, typing in the biggest, knarliest medical words you can think of. HEEEEEE Yeah, I'm a nerd. I love word search, crossword...words words words. My "kids" call me the "wordMaster". HAHAHAH

Another proud Cougar here. I was also a band/theater geek in high school. Even more of a geek because I actually LIKED the academics (especially English and History). I think we'll find that today's "Cougars for Cook" will have come from quite a varied background.

Hello all, I am also a Cougar in LOVE with David Cook! I am happily married, but not sure if the hubby can handle this obsession, so I sort of sneak in here and drool over David De-Liciousness in secret. I am sooo in love with David....I saw him on "Ellen" today and actually cried like an idiot...from the sheer joy of hearing his pure voice...it was soooo beautiful, and he is such a beautiful man. MAN, I SAID! He effects me in all the right ways, and in all the wrong ones, too, probably! ohmy.gif I feel so giddy most of the time, cannot get his face out of my mind, and I am so glad I found this website! I had been looking FOREVER for a DC site, and I only found this most fabulous site upon seeing a photo someone had posted elsewhere, and it said "David-Cook.org" on it.....so I came here immediately and started ogling and posting! Hi fellow cougars - well I'm new to this board and have been in the background for a long time just admiring all the ladies who thought this kid was the best! I was, however, at the FIRST Woodstock - so I don't think I need to go any further other than to say I was an original Groupie back in the 60's! Was a go go dancer at Gazarri's on Sunset Strip and frequented many a rock club in those days. The best time ever! I'd like to think I still have it to pick a winna! and evidently - from "Livin on a Prayer" to now proves we are all right about one Mr. David Cook. His genuine quality is the most endearing - his quick wit - and that voice of his - leaves you long after that last note! wink.gif

The only other fan board I was ever on was Queer as Folk and when that show ended - I let go of fan boards - but it is a nice touch to see so many feel this kids' quality! He is amazing in all respects and I can't imagine that he won't rock the music world.

I thank our administrator for putting up the Music Player which I have yet to turn off today! It's been heaven listening and smiling all day while at work.

Thank you all again for sharing your thoughts - this kid is fantastic.

Hi all,
I was the all-around girl-next-door in HS. I was the good girl cheerleader, nice to everyone and top of the class. I definitely fell for the "bad boys" though...always wanted them, but then I couldn't stand their antics and would dump them....
I went through a lot of bad relationships but never married (Thank GOD). I now have the quintessential bad boy turned good...he's is the best thing to happen to me...He is funny, intelligent, cute and hard-working, plus he adores me (he's also a little CRAZY, hehehe).
So I think David Cook has a little of the "bad boy" edge from my early days with the substance of my present day LOVE...GREAT combination in my book.
I sneak on here also....I think just because I feel a bit silly being this awe-struck over a 25 y.o. musician. Though I also like to keep by little fantasy land going...can I say I am a BIT jealous of Kim Caldwell!!! YIKES!!

I am a Clinical Pharmacist that deals with very sick children/adults all day long...so I like my little fantasy land retreat. One thing I noticed about David is something I see most days in people with a sick loved one....They GET IT...the REAL things in LIFE..the pain and the joy, the appreciation for any moment that you have and the fact that the trivial things we all seem to worry about really have no importance in the BIG PICTURE. David embodies that...and I have never seen any actor/musician/artist really express that better than he does.
That is what made me really appreciate him and fall a bit in love (lust, who cares)...
Anyway, thanks for letting me say the things I keep hidden and not feel so foolish.

I fell so hard I did a face plant on the pavement . . . seriously, I'm a leftover from the 80s hair band days where long hair ruled, tight pants were the norm, and lead singers, well, I fell really hard for a lot of them. Let's see, David Lee Roth (still a fave...saw him in concert his year. STILL has washboard abs), Billy Squier, Steve Perry, Kip Winger (did anyone else see his Playgirl spread?), Joe Elliott of Def Leppard, Steve Jones (former Sex Pistol), Axl Rose, and so many, many more. I actually went to a heavy metal convention in L.A. in 1989 (LOTS of funny stories there), so I considered myself a quasi-expert.

I can't say what the first thing was that made me fall hard. Maybe because he was the only NORMAL contestant from Omaha, so we kept an eye on him from Day 1. But the Billy Jean video REALLY made me take notice, plus I thought he had a cute face from Day 1. From the Hello video on, it was over. My husband watched him because he liked his style. I sat there burning a hole in the couch from surging hormones. I haven't had a crush on a celebrity this bad since the Billy Squier addiction of the late 80s where I had to read EVERYTHING, watch EVERYTHING and communicate with others who feel the same way.

I'm a huge sucker for eyes, and his speak volumes....some are rated "R" (or ARRGH?). Plus the intense vocabulary. Some actors today can't put together a coherent sentence much less use the word "trite." AND the hair . . . since his hair makeover, it's luscious enough to run your fingers through. That paired with the smile, his love and respect for his family and his wicked sense of humor.

Oh David, here we go . . .everyone thinks I've gone overboard but NO ONE has disagreed with me that if you're going to have a celebrity crush, well, this is a good one . . .

I was a band and theater geek in High School and very shy. I was really into new wave music and went to hundreds of concerts. I always loved music. I was also prone to crushes on musicians. That's been dormant until now.

rolleyes.gif Yay I found my fellow Cougars! My first post here--I've been completely enamoured by Cook since the beginning and have been keeping it to myself lest my friends think I'm nuts. I'm 20 (gulp!) years older than him, but I don't care--he's fabulous and I haven't had a crush like this since....since, um....Shaun Cassidy in the 70s? Wow!! wub.gif Can NOT wait for his CD!

Hell to the yes!

I'm only 44, which at 19 years older is well within acceptable Cougar range.

That poor guy; here I was thinking - he is so going to get laid now. Only I thought it'd be a slew of young nubile groupies lined up for blocks. But it looks like maybe he's a serial monogamist.

Well, no harm no foul I guess.

Maybe he'll eventually develop a taste for a riper, juicier fruit. After all, we've had more time to build expansive vocabularies.

Hi All,

I was a choir/theater high school geek (late 70's/early 80's) who also excelled at academics. I was quiet and had pretty low self confidence except for when I was performing. I went on to college and majored in music and sang professionally (contemporary Christian music) for 5 years. I have been teaching vocal performance for the past 18 years with a concentration on classical music. I have to admit here that initially I was a David Archuletta fan. I didn't really pay too much attention to DC until he sang "Hello". Oh, I said to my kids that DC had a nice rocker voice, but the comb-over hair really took away from his face didn't it? From a technical vocal teacher's perspective David A's voice does stand out. It is unique in it's tone and texture. DC's first few weeks, he did nothing out of the ordinary to make a vocal teacher sit up and take notice. When DC sang "Hello" and he didn't just rock out the whole song and did the soft falsetto at the end, I suddenly realized how technically sound his singing was. I really feel like Archie peaked too soon. His best performances were early on. DC, by contrast, just got better and better. Plus, as the weeks progressed, we were getting to see more of the contestant's personalities. DC with the crossword puzzles and calling himself a wordnerd helped me fall for him a little more. I have always loved a guy who's intelligent and articulate. By the time DC sang "Billie Jean," I had fallen under his spell big time and switched my allegience and votes from Archie to DC. I don't think by any means that Archie outsang DC on the final night either. He sang the big power ballads that we are accustomed to for the finale. DC just did his own thing as always. Simon said he would have been smarter to sing "Hello" or "Billie Jean" again because that's what got him there to the finale, but smart move on DC's part to know that doing a new song "The World I know" was doing what got him there--being creative, emotional, and innovative. I haven't crushed on anyone like this for a long time. My husband and sons think I'm crazy although they liked DC the best too. I am so glad to have found this site, so that I know that I am not alone in my craziness for the hotness of David Cook!

I'm not sure if Im a cougar or not but I'm 45 and in my day was interested in bands/singers.

OMG, I am soooo glad I found this topic. After David won the "crown", I found I was still obsessed with him. Like another writer here, I am obsessed with watching every video on him! And watching the Guitar Hero commercial over and over and over....!!! I haven't crushed like this since another DC was on the scene...David Cassidy!!! I even had a dream a couple of nights ago about Cookie. When I woke up, I knew that I was a "cougar"! I am twice his age, and my youngest is a year older than DC. I felt guilty at first and wondered what was happening to my brain! Fantasizing about this guy is crazy, but I can't help myself!

He is confident, intelligent, articulate, and sexay!!! I can't even believe how obsessed I have become over him!

The kind of person I was in high school was a straight A student, choir was my fave class.

Ohhh, I feel so much better now that I have admitted this obsession to someone! I can't tell anyone, especially my husband (he would probably laugh, but I don't want to hurt his feelings anyway). Thanks for the outlet!!!

Welcome to the club! I'm 58 and this is actually freaking me out a little bit. At first my husband thought it was funny - now we're at the "rolling his eyes" stage. "Why are you taping Larry King. You never watch Larry King. Oh. Don't tell me. HE'S going to be on." lol I'm running out of room on my DVR. I just can't erase any of the American Idol shows. Now the rest is filling up with Jay Leno, Ellen, and all the other stuff I CAN'T BEAR TO ERASE.

Ha ha! Me too! I just recorded Larry King for the first time. Caught hubby paging quizzically thu the "Now Playing"
list on the Tivo at all the talk shows I never normally record. lol

Got lots of gigs on my PC, so I've been using the Tivo to download the shows to the PC so I can free up space on
the Tivo. If the PC fills up I'll just either burn the shows to CD or put them on my external hard drive. ;-)

Is anyone from No Cali going to the Sac town show? If I am lucky enough to win tickets (unlikely) (can't afford to buy) I would be embarassed to go and my 14 year old won't go with me! Actually, maybe I wouldn't really be embarassed to go alone now that I come to think of it...

What classifies us as a cougar? I'm single, but I'm 35, so a bit older, does that make me a cougar? If so, I'm proud of it!
davidisdevine
Gosh. You all are fantastic. I feel right at home here because I am 53, married, with two nearly fledged kids, a son who's 21 and going to be a senior in college, and a daughter, 18, who graduates HS this Sunday and goes off to college in August. I was a "wonk" in HS--remember that term? I was the class Salutatorian (missed Valedictorian by .001 and am still bitter over it) I went to THE Ivy League school (heh heh heh and "snap" to any Elis out there) and then married and went to work. I went to law school at night while I worked. I was a Yuppie in the 80s.

I was never a hippie, or really any fun at all, haha. I never had celebrity crushes after my first and only one on David McCallum as Illya Kuryakin wore off. I pretty much had my nose down, tail up all my "good" years. I waited to have children until my 30s and then to everyone's shock and awe, decided to stay home with them. Luckily, I could do so because my husband made a good living. My kids are awesome and were totally worth it. 3 years ago I went back to work and it is going well.

Okay. So you get the picture: Not too spontaneous, moi. Not too passionate, either, except for my kids. Life working out as planned. I have watched AI for all the seasons. I like the show. It is usually good entertainment and the kids on it are fairly talented and I like to see them work at their craft and succeed.

This year one young man, David Cook, rewrote the script of my life, and he has absolutely NO CLUE!!! Talk about shock and awe. That describes me perfectly. How did this happen to me? Where have these emotions come from? How does he make me cry and shiver and laugh and one time (very memorable) literally ROTFL!!! I cannot begin to fathom it.

How can I, the world's most rational and cool head, have what feels like truly loving sentiments toward a stranger? I really care about him, his family, his friends, his hometown, his causes, and pretty much anything to do with him.

It embarrasses me that I also think he is amazingly beautiful, more attractive than I have seen in an eon of living, and can't take my eyes off him when he is on the TV, that I look for pictures of him, and some of them make me smile, but some raise a completely different, uncomfortable type response in me.

My husband is the hero here because he is understanding and not at all inappropriately competitive. He knows he is reaping the side benefits and isn't too proud to enjoy them. He doesn't mock me, in fact, I think he actually feels a little sorry for me because this is a dream more fragile than a soap bubble.

So, I don't call myself a cougar. Frankly, I am not sure I could pass for one since I am far from sophisticated or slinky. But I definitely have a case of the superannuated school girl crushies.

As for me, I was an orchestra geek in HS along with participating in track/cross country/cheerleading/volleyball/soccer as well as student council, steering committee and don't forget scorekeeper and head statistician for the boys basketball team. I even got an award for being involved! Do you think David will need some excellent string instrumentation on any part of his CD? I can volunteer!

My musical tastes are all over--just give me good music. But, back in the day, as far as musicians, I had a crush on Andy Gibb, then in college it was Richie Sambora. Now I feel just like a school girl again. I get so crazy when I watch David--I don't think I've ever been this crazy about a musician (don't worry, I mean crazy in a GOOD way). I just can't get enough of watching him, whether he's performing or just being interviewed. He is such the original Word Nerd and he is so wonderful to listen to during interviews. See, I was always attracted to intelligent, articulate men. He is the perfect man!

I guess I will have to live vicariously through Kimberly Cauldwell and root them on if she will make DC happy. That's all that counts anyway! First, I'm married. Second, like I'll ever meet him. So go Kimberly & David! (Just in case it doesn't work out, do you think he likes cougars?)

Also, I am stuck on the tv appearances. The only reason I'm deleting them off of the DVR (when I don't, my husband looks at me funny) is that I can scan the website here and watch them all I want.

I'm late coming to the boards, but I've been a DC fan from the beginning when he sang Bon Jovi at the auditions. (Again, think my RS obsession!) Okay, enough rambling with small words . . . See, my Word Nerd tendencies go out the window when talking about DC!

Well, I can see I'm in the right place too! You are all me! I'm not divulging my age for pity sakes, but I'll tell you I've been hooked up with a much younger man for 9 years now and may I say that it really changes your whole outlook on life. And mainly for the better!

He introduced me to the rock world about 6 years ago and we've seen hundreds of rockers. What I learned at my first heavy metal concert, Iron Maiden - yep, you all outta try it - is that music is really ageless and timeless.

Right now my all time favs are Def Leppard - I'm in love with Joe Elliott, too (double timing DC), KISS, Journey, Tears for Fears, Heart, Styx, The Moody Blues, Billy Idol (oh so sexy), Kenny Loggins, ZZ Top, Bryan Adams, Scorpions, and many more. I've seen Metallica, Queensryche, rappers Fifty Cent, Eminnem, Lil' John (these guys were so filthy it was disgusting, though - stay away, far away).

I didn't become obsessed with David in the beginning because I didn't think AI would ever choose a rocker. I was devastated when my first true love Bo Bice lost. But I later saw him in concert and went to a meet and greet, got his autograph and my picture taken with him. He's so adorable, but he's now on my back burner. Then there was Chris Daughtry, who I adored next and when he got the boot, I was furious. So you can see that with broken dreams for a rocker in shambles, I took my time getting to know DC.

I listened this weekend to all his songs and when I heard his heartwrenching "All I Really Need Is You," I cried like a baby. My heart opened up and that was it. And then I watched his personal message on his myspace and boingo!

David has the magic touch alright - straight to your heart and soul. I've been thinking about him and comparing his future success to the way Elvis' was. I really believe our Beloved (Hebrew for David) is going to be the next King of Rock and Roll. And it's so fun to be a part of this craziness!

Hello fellow Cougars!

It is so fun to read what y'all are writing. I've been part of a Clay Aiken Cougars (only we call ourselves the Cradle Robbers Gone Wild) and everything you're saying about David, we all say about Clay. Have traveled all over the US to see him, 19 times or something crazy, and we've had 2 CRGW paloozas over long weekends. Great fun. I'd never felt like I did about him and I went overboard, staying up till 4 in the morning on message boards, etc.

Seriously.

Then DC comes along and I literally can't even remember what it is I liked (loved) about Clay. Hee.

He and DC and actually very similar. College graduates, vurry vurry intelligent, articulate and funny. Titanium cojones and a sex appeal that defies definition. Both of them had a hair makeover that really changed them.

But Cook? Oy vey. I can't get enough of him. Clay who? I love David's lips, the way he eyef*cks the camera and how he works it. Most of all I love his voice and the content of his character, as far as we know it.

I was a fan from early on, but the combover held me back! My favorite performance is the studio version of Music of the Night. It will be the best 99 cents you ever spent at iTunes. I have it on continual play. That song really showcases his talent and I hope that someday he'll sing something like it again before I wear a hole in my iPod!

Another Cougar for Cook! And I am so pleased to meet you all!!! I've read each and every post, laughed and nodded my head, recognizing myself in so many posts. I'm so in love with DC that it's almost scary (well, not as in the BAD scary!). I'm 53, married happily for 31 years and I have one almost 20 year-old son.

When David sings I find myself lifted up, suspended, hanging on his every word and nuance (word nerds unite!). When he says "c'mon" in "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", well I just want to go with him! tongue.gif He's so easy on the eyes, so bright and well spoken, and seems like a kind "people" kind of person. His mama raised him right! He'll go far and I can't wait to follow his career. I wish him tons of success and happiness.

As for me, I was a rocker chick from way back, I've seen in concert: Eric Clapton, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Joni Mitchell (my personal all time fave), and lately I've seen Counting Crows, Goo Goo Dolls and even went to see Jimmy Buffett back in the day and now Kenny Chesney (go figure). Anyone ever hear of Dar Williams or Gomez? Love them too. I was so happy when DC won the title, I cried!

Just a shout out to Crickett for mentioning the Music Player at the top of the page, that's awesome! I've got it playing now and absolutely adore it.

Cougars are all the rage now, with Sex and the City coming out, it seems cool to be a Cougar! laugh.gif

I am so thankful that the term "dirty old lady" has now been replaced with "Cougar" which sounds much sexier. Don't you think?? I am 41, happily married with 3 children and when I saw David Cook sing "Hello" I was totally hooked. Back when i was a teenager I feel in love with Jon Bon Jovi and still to this day I still sigh when I see him. But now there is a new man in my life and I don't know if I feel more guilty for Jon or my husband. I feel like I am cheating on them. Jon fufilled many teenage fantasies, David made me a Cougar!! There are so many things about him that I find sexy, the smile (little smirk), voice (swoon), or his admiration for his family. I am proud to join the group of Cookie-Cougars!!

Hey, there's nothing wrong with being a 50-something! I ski, mountain bike, hike, and I'm a martial artist.
I'm a tech nerd and a word nerd both. And I'm a rocker chick from way back too. Saw Cream, Donovan,
Rolling Stones, Chicago, just to mention a few.

I'm not sure about being a Cougar since I don't have any personal designs on David. I think he's very sexy
and I admire him from afar, but jeez, I really am too old for him (sigh). However, I do have fantasies about
my hot 25-year old self meeting him! lol

Hi. I am 39yo and married and obsess over him too. What is it about him? I think it's because he comes off as the perfect man. tongue.gif

He loves his family and loves kids. He isn't afraid to cry in front of people, and just the fact that he is so emotional.

He aint bad on the eyes at all and his voice is perfect.

He is so modest, that's the main thing I love about him. He doesn't get how people think he's "pretty".

and he didn't really think he was going to win this thing and was happy with what he was doing before.

unlike other former american idol contestants who are so shocked when they are voted off like they are so great or something, Uh hum, Chris Daughtry, Uh hum.

It's funny because this weekend my husband didn't shave after he found out I am addicted to Cookie.

Me too, me too...Medical transcriptionist and DC fan here. I'm 40 with 2 kids (boys)! I was a total nerd in high school in pretty much every sense of the word. Duran Duran was my biggest crush back then, I guess. Aerosmith, Boston, 80s Hair Bands... tongue.gif

Until a few days ago I couldn't even post on this board, so this is such a nice way to start! (well, other than my fanfics).

Being from Omaha, I noticed David during the auditions. He stood out, argyle sweater and red hair..and VOICE! I watched for and voted for him every week, just 'cause. But like most of you, it was a few weeks into the competition where he really touched me. I listened to him again this morning on the "Today" show, and got those same goosebumps I got the first time I heard him.

It's so nice to share these odd and unusual feelings with fellow cougars. I told someone on this board, that there used to be a saying, "He thinks he's God's gift to women." Well, as far as I'm concerned, David Cook is...and I will be forever thankful!
